This was the quickest trip to the DMV ever. The employees were nice and helpful. It was literally 10 mins from start to finish.

This is a DMV, so I didn't expect it to be quick, but it did take a very long time. The guy at the front who checked me in was very nice and friendly, and they have a pretty efficient system despite the crowds. When I finally got called up, the two people I interacted with at that point were not very friendly, and weren't clear on their instructions but got annoyed when I asked for clarification. I think they have the system down but I wish the employees were all as nice as the guy at the front. read more

Straightforward & quick for being a DMV. I got there 30 min after opening on a Tuesday and I did an out of state ID transfer which took about 1.5 hours. Remember to take your proper documentations! read more

As far as dmvs go, this is the one to go to, at least for a license. This isn't the closest one to me but after reading reviews I figured it was worth going a little out of my way. Have all your paperwork. Proof of residence like bills have to be paper. No e-bills. I overheard someone ask. I arrived around 9 and was out by 930 even with a line to get to the first desk. read more

This center gets a failing grade. I can for a license renewal. Appears poorly managed. Arrived at 940a on a Sat, I expected a wait a wait but line F had a trainee - on a high volume day? The finally opened additional lines and three counters were able to process a total of 15 people in over two hours. There were 35 people ahead of me. The counter people would disappear for 15-20 minutes at a time during which no processing g was done. This was beyond bureaucracy - how to improve, actually manage, hire better, maintain standards of service. It's not clear any of that is considered at this location. read more

Such a good experience here, shockingly for a DMV. They were quick, efficient, and clear about what everyone needed. The man handling the front desk was awesome. And bonus - they were all actually really nice!!! I got there at 8 (half an hour before they opened) was about the 15th person in line, and was in and out in a little under an hour. So impressed. read more

They really helped me get what to expect in becoming an resident of Pennsylvania. They are very friendly

Staff is friendly, polite and helpful. All will go smoothly as long as you go to the website and bring the correct documents. Closed on Mondays. (who wants to go on a Monday anyway!) read more

All I wanted to know is do I need an appointment to take the road test. 3 hours later and several redirected websites. I still do not have my answer. This non communication SUCKS! read more

The worst DMV I have ever been to. None of the staff knew the proper documentation I needed. They were all obese and aggressive.

When to PennDot for a new license since I just moved to Philly. Keep your expectations low of any license centers lol. PennDot was no different. We arrived at opening time and there was a pretty big line. They screen your documents before you're allowed to wait for whatever services you require. Even though I followed the instructions on the real ID government website, they told me I couldn't use the documents I had. I had to leave to print other documents to satisfy the rules they pretty much made up themselves. They did allow me to cut the line when I got back which I appreciated. It took me a full two hours to complete everything. Make sure you are prepared when you come here or you will be turned away!! read more

PennDOT - Departments of Motor Vehicles Near Me - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

SO rude the people who you speak to after getting a ticket number. as if waiting 1.5 hours isn't enough they act like you're bothering them for a job they applied to do. read more

IN AND OUT for an updated drivers license in LESS than 30 minutes. All reps were polite, quick and helpful. They have a front desk clerk to make sure everyone has the CORRECT documents per service needed before waiting. Which is amazing! This to me, made the process quick and efficient. read more

It's like all the complaints people have about going to Penndot have been listened to. This location is a well-oiled machine, I was in and out in 20 minutes and every employee I came in contact was downright friendly! - aside from a grumpy security guard. I highly recommend going on a weekday if you can. read more

Surprisingly kind and quick! Way better than the rude a*s post office workers in South Philly!!

Went there at business opening time. Was probably 15th in line and was in-and-out in 45 minutes, even with all the paperwork I had. Bill, the person who was manning the front desk that makes sure you have all the correct documentation was very communicative, courteous, and helpful. Other staff members processed my paperwork efficiently. Great first experience at this DMV location! read more

Great service, knowledgeable personnel. They answered all my questions & gave great suggestions on how to proceed. read more

The staff is so so so kind and patient! I came from the arch street dmv where I was treated horribly and went miles out of my way to try this place and I'm so glad I did. They got me in and out of this place in less than 30 minutes and were very wonderful to me. Highly recommend! read more

Much different than the penndot of old. They take cards as payment AND The machines do the majority of the leg work so the processes are better streamlined. I took the test for my motorcycle permit and from start to end was less than a 1/2 hour. Facilities clean & staff were helpful and happy. Much improved read more

Possibly the worst driving testers. They disrespected me because of the car I was driving and that it's not meant to be for me to get my license. They failed me because she said I didn't stop fully at a stop sign when I did for a full three seconds until she told me to turn left and I placed me signal left to turn. After that she complained about my signal turning off when the care does that when I turn the wheel fully straight and I was already done the turn. But no they fail me over nonsense and lies. They told me to remove my dashcam and if I left it you would see the amount of bullshit and lies they conduct to drivers testing. They enjoy failing people. I spoke to someone they failed them 8 times for no reason, they fail you for fun. read more

Came here once for myself a couple years ago and they were so fast I didn't even know they had called me yet...they were waiting on me! Am here today with my friend who is switching his license to PA from out of state and we were immediately helped by the guy at the front and given all the correct paperwork and ensured we had everything we needed. My friend was called within 20 minutes of arriving. Best experience I've ever had at the DMV hands down. read more

Staff is friendly and helpful. There is a quick turnaround time depending on when you go. I try to go after 9 am on weekdays and I was in and out within 30 mins on most occasions. Ample parking available. read more

Warning to new residents getting a license. This location will not give you you're license on the spot. It gets mailed to you 2 weeks later, or you can pick it up at the DMV. Great location with really nice workers. Went at 1:30 pm on Friday and barely had to wait. Way better than the location on 8th and Arch. read more

I'm not sure if it was COVID, but I waited in LINE for 2 hours. It was wrapped around the corner of a massive shopping center. I went here because of the reviews but did not have the same experience. I'm not sure if it weekdays where it is quick only... but the line was INSANE here. Be warned. read more

Such a fast and easy experience in all honesty. If you can, try and get Lisa because she was lovely and sooooo funny and helpful! I was in and out in 45m for a replacement out of state license. Just a heads up, bring a check or money order for payment because they don't take cash or card. read more

Came in to have a license done and the female instructor who was meant to supervise my test was extremely rude and incompetent. I'm not sure why, but it seemed as though she was searching for any reason to fail me. The reason she gave? Perfectly parallel parking in a non parking zone, despite there being NO clear indication of the one that was asked of me. When clarity was requested on the correct parking zone prior to parking- it was refused. Be careful if you come here because you will also be kept waiting with poor customer service. My appointment was at 2:15pm, but the test started at 2:35pm. I would give 0 stars if I could. read more

I went in with my husband today because we just got married so I needed to update my name. The lady (rude lady might I add) at the front asked for birth certificate, license, two pieces of mail proving residency, and my social, and marriage certificate I gave that all to her and she said she needed two more documents proving my name because my middle name was altered. She said to go change it at the bank and change my voter's registration. I looked up the voter's registration and I'm unable to alter that without my license being updated, and we don't have a physical bank here (we're from out of state and just moved here) I explained it's going to be impossible for me to update my name without my license and she basically said s*** out of luck. Anyway I ended up calling the court/city hall (the office that deals with name changes) here to ask about what I do, and she explained that the lady at the DMV was uneducated and that it was ridiculous I was given a hard time, she told me to try to go to a different DMV and I shouldn't have an issue because apparently this happens quite a lot from that DMV. So after three hours of scrambling we just go to a different DMV with the same documents we had this morning as the lady instructed, and I was in and out within an hour, absolutely no problems, they didn't even mention my middle name change. This office is ridiculous and a waste of time they will do literally ANYTHING not to help you. read more

Graded on a government curve. Very efficient and they finally accept credit cards.

The best DMV experience ever! I moved back to Philly and procrastinated changing my license because I dread the DMV. Instead of the arch street one I went to a few years ago, I elected this location because of the good reviews. The workers were great, and I even had them laughing as I made jokes about the dreadful state I moved back from (cough NC cough). I am not sure why some people said they can't print licenses; I got mine printed on the spot (for RealID you have to wait). Skip the center city location and come here instead! read more

I never thought I'd see the day I'd give a PennDOT location a rating like this! I live in north/northeast Philly and go all the way to this location on SEPTA (over an hour!) because the locations by me are DREADFUL! I've had to come here several times in the last couple months to get my new ID, then to pop in and grab a driver permit app and then to take the permit test. The first time I tried to take the permit test I had forgotten my proof of ID because I was rushing from work and the woman apologized & told me to come back the next day because I did make it in JUST before they closed that day. The woman at the front desk was the same every time and she was very helpful and friendly. The other staff has been great every time and on weekdays I've been in and out in under a half hour. I just did the test and got my permit Saturday ... from start to finish it only took an hour even though they were packed! The lady that helped me that day was being trained and she was very lovely and was still just about as fast as the other workers. I commend these workers for not being like the ones in the locations near me! read more

This is the best DMV office I have ever been to in my life. I came here in 2015 when I first moved to Philly. They were awesome back then so I returned when I had to update my address on my drivers license. It wasn't a fluke, they were awesome again. The staff is wonderful, fun and h extremely friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough. What an awesome DMV experience. Thanks so much for making my day! Sincerely Chris Taylor read more

I drive to the Arch st DMV today. After paying a lot for parking and walking into a room of over 100 people waiting in line, I got back in my car and headed to this location. FREE PARKING. Well-lit. Sufficient seating. Few people waiting in line. I came at 3:00 on a Wednesday. Also, I believe the 47 bus passes right in front. read more

When i know i have to contend with any division of motor vehicles, a deep sense of dread fills my gut. So when i got my notice to renew my license my first thoughts were unpleasant. Especially since i was making a minior name change on my license. I must have reviewed the website four times to make sure i had ecerything i needed. I got to the Oregon location and my nerves were alighted as i entered the building..... But much to my surprise it was a quick and painless experiences. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes! Wowwy wowwy wow and yippie skippie! It was actually super efficient and everyone knew what they were doing! My only complaint that while not unpleasant the employees weren't particularly pleasant either. Whatever, I'll take it if it means I'm in and out that fast! read more

Not sure if people don't realize that the one on Delaware Ave relocated or the other locations are more convenient now, but, this place was pretty quiet for the afternoon in the middle of the week. Was in and out in mere minutes. I also did renew my ID ahead online, but, I couldn't imagine it taking much longer. The woman assisting me was also very polite and professional. Definitely a big improvement where I waited up to an hour and a half with forms completed at the old one next to BK. Hopefully won't be back for 4 years, but, I know the visit with be smooth even if I am. (I.e. I'm your friend with like 2 or 3 dupes. Aha.) read more

Best DMV office. If only they handled passports and PPA services! Went there on a Saturday afternoon and my son had his permit and a temporary identification card in under 30 minutes. I was having very bad experience at another driver license center so I did not expect to get much help when coming to this Oregon location, just came to ask a question in person because when I called, the staff on the phone literally told me they don't know anything?!? However, I made the right decision to give it a try because the gentleman who helped me was very nice and he actually explained thoroughly to me how things are and took time to help solve my issue, unlike some other staffs who only told me to wait or refer me to another website/ call center. His name is Allen, I can't thank him enough for his help. I feel like at most driver license centers, people are too busy to offer some extra help if the case is not straightforward and simple enough. They would likely to tell you to wait or give you a phone number to call someplace else. At least now I know not everyone is like that and there are staffs like Allen who show more empathy for the customers. The place was not busy during a morning Friday and wait time was short. Overall, it is the best experience I have so far with driver license center and the person I worked with is definitely the best (maybe i am a bit biased but he is still very helpful) read more
