My elderly dad wanted to sell his car and I had absolutely NO idea how to go about it; the PennDOT website was super confusing. Did I need to draw up a bill of sale myself? What tax was owed? What Form to use from PennDOT? Well all I had to do was show up at Laughlin and Damon took care of EVERYTHING. Steve was really nice and got me in and out in minutes. They let you know what you need before coming. However, I still messed it up. Apparently you need PA insurance before getting PA plates. Why does that seem backwards to me? He told me that immediately when I came in, and luckily, I was easily able to book another appointment online that same week to get everything squared away. He has a small and effective office in Philly, but we have appreciated that he is opened for business even on Saturdays (till 5pm), and that he is very knowledgeable in the "aposilla"-based verification process for the Pennsylvania documents and certificates. They refused to give me a refund for a duplicate title which I ordered through them. After 2 months the title never came. They could not process it because it was also under an ex girlfriend's name. In the end they charged $90 for a service (duplicate title) they could not deliver and issue to me. That's border line theft if you ask me...they shouldn't have charged me money if they knew they couldn't process the request. The manager even admitted his subordinate wasn't supposed to do that. That's just bad business. Use another tag place...they suck! read more

I really have nothing bad to say about my experience at Laughlin. In fact, it was probably the easiest of all the steps in the transformation of a NJ-licensed vehicle to a PA one. I went on a weekday around noon and was in and out in a matter of ten minutes. Steve was a pretty funny guy, and he was nice enough to remove my old NJ plates and put my new plate on for me. Transferred my out of state registration to PA. What a great place! So friendly and accommodating. I called first and was given explicit instructions as to what to bring and where to park. When we arrived we were treated to first class service including: explanation of payment alternatives, explanation with visual aids of what to expect to receive in the mail and by when, the use of a screwdriver to put our new plate on the car, a photocopy of our paperwork (the old title), a photocopy of the state regulations that explains that an inspection isn't needed for 10 days (in case we're stopped by an ignorant law officer!) and very respectful treatment. read more

Steve McGarry, Sr. at Laughlin saved the day!! My daughter went to AAA to get her new registration after I transferred title to my car to her and had the worst experience. The receptionist had her fill out the odometer information on the FRONT of the title. Then she was told by the "specialist" that that was incorrect and the title was now defaced!! She tried to take the title and rip it up and was totally unapologetic. Worst service ever. No worries, we went to Laughlin who fixed EVERYTHING!! They only take cash for notary stuff but it was only 5$ per seal, so stop by an atm beforehand. If I ever need notary services again, I am 100% going to return :) read more

This place is great. I just moved to PA from Indiana and needed to sell my car. This couple and I were doing a "car swap"--I bought their car and they bought mine. My car still had Indiana plates, registration, and my driver's license was Indiana. I clearly had no clue of how PA did vehicle registration and licensing. Stephen was a tremendous help and really nice about it! He told me exactly what I needed to do and where I needed to go and he threw in a few jokes to make an otherwise frustrating experience funny. Stephen is great and full of information, if he is not the owner he sure acts like it. He has a lot of integrity and runs the business like he owns it (so he must be the owner?!)
