Absolutely wonderful! I am new to Pennsylvania and was daunted by everything I read about transferring my out-of-state title and registration. These folks handled everything smoothly and quickly, even lending me a screwdriver to mount my new plate on-the-spot! There is parking at the location, too. To sum up, the process could not have been more pleasant and simple! Worth it. read more

Good service in handling transfer of plates from out of state. Close to Center City and downtown Philadelphia in general.

We live around the corner and never though of stopping in. Had to get someone added to our car title and change someone's name on both the title and registration. These guys were great! Friendly, helpful, patient, and got the work quickly done. I've never done this type of thing before so I can't comment on the price, but it seemed well worth it to us. 100% recommend for anyone who needs these types of services. They also have monetary bills from all over the world on their wall which is a nice distraction while you're waiting. read more

I thought our needs were a bit complex- bring a gifted car from NJ to PA and get title and tags, but the very responsive person on the phone was reassuring, "20 minutes, no problem." He was 100% right! We came in on a Saturday morning, were served with no wait, and 20 minutes later we were done and putting on the new plate in their convenient parking lot. There is also an adjacent coffee shop. Alex staff were friendly, customer- oriented, and took us through the process easily. I would recommend Alex Auto Tag for sure! read more

This place is next to DD at Broad and Christian. They were efficient, friendly and helpful. I had a specific problem moving back from Maine. They solved it and issued me a refund of some PA State charges! Great service! Thanks! read more

I'm very glad that I read the reviews and decided to give this place a shot for my out-of-state title transfer. The whole experience was incredible! They were fast, friendly, and explained everything clearly. I'll absolutely be returning for anything else they can help me with, especially when it will allow me to avoid the blighted hellscape that is the Arch St. DMV. read more

I came to Alex Auto Tag to get my out of state title and registration transferred. I called ahead to ask what documents were needed. Since I own my car, I was told I needed to bring my out of state title, proof of PA auto insurance, and driver's license. I also brought my out of state registration just in case, but they didn't need it. The process was fairly quick, I got done in about 20-30 minutes. Price was a little steep - I paid $208 in total, whereas when I moved from PA to NY previously, the title/registration transfer cost $202. Then again, I also opted to reuse my old PA plate and renewed the registration. I'm not sure if it would have been cheaper if I just got new plates. Parking was not an issue at all since there is free parking right outside the store. read more

I went here to get my RV registered. The older man was very difficult almost seemed as if he was being prejudice. I wouldn't come here agin. I would advise you not do business with them if you are a brown person read more

After researching the paperwork and requirements for transferring a title and getting tags in PA, we were not looking forward to the process. But the people at Alex's Tags were great - helpful, knowledgeable, efficient, quick & pleasant to work with. So glad we went there, worth the money read more

Folks were so kind and helpful. I'd definitely return and recommend. I didn't know the process for transferring a title into PA and getting license plates could be made so stress free...but they did it! read more

Great service! Called and came in the same day to get a title transfer and registration processed. There was no wait on Fri around noon. They told me exactly what was needed (pa license, insurance card, vin photo), quickly verified my VIN (I just brought a printed photo, but you can also email pics to them), and sent the title request to my lien holder. They will contact me the day the title arrives so I can get my tags and plate. The price was steep ($255 for the title transfer, registration, and plate), but that's PA for you. Thanks for a great, painless experience!! read more

Quick, easy and friendly enough for an out of state title transfer/tags. I had my paperwork ready (bill of sale, insurance, check to the PA commonwealth for sales tax), which helped a lot in making it go smoothly. I did not bring the vehicle but was able to take a picture of the VIN and send it by email. I did not receive a confirmation of receipt email, but I trust it was received. Office has a bit of a bail bonds feel to it, bullet proof glass kind of thing. - they could use a house plant or art work or something to lighten it up. $210 not including the pa sales tax paid separately, which honestly I'm not well informed enough to know if that's a good price. Seems a little high but I uh, did the poorly informed consumer thing and paid it without really looking at the charges. I probably should have. Don't be like me. read more

Super quick process. I called ahead to find out what exactly I needed to get my out of state car that was given as a gift transferred to me. This is a one stop shop that offers notary service, title, tag and registration service, and insurance sales. I can't speak for the insurance sales, but I can definitely say that they run service well for everything else. They were honest in working as a notary. Someone came in with a pre-signed form and asked Alex to notarize it, and he refused saying that he could not notarize a signature of someone who was not there, but would gladly wait for that person to come. As for me, I came in with all the forms and proofs they told me over the phone, paid the amount as posted on their wall, and walked out with a new license plate, registration sticker and a good feeling that my title would be mailed to me in 7 days. I even asked them for a screw driver to replace my out of state plates, and when they saw me struggle a bit (I currently have a cast on my hand), one of the staff came out and helped me replace the plates! Despite looking like a seedy check cashing store (they have bars on the windows and thick glass between you and the counter), everyone was friendly and helpful. All my stuff was done within 20 minutes. My car is now Pennsylvanian! read more

I don't know how much there is to say about a tag place, but Alex Auto Tag did the trick. What do you do when you purchase back your car from your parents and plan on bringing it across state lines? You get it registered and tagged of course! So here's my thought process: "This is Philadelphia, there's gotta be all kinds of tag places" I found Alex Auto Tag on S Broad and it seemed easy and approachable. The place is very small. I've seen pantries that are bigger than this place. It's not very posh inside but the owner (I'm guessing) greets you with a smile and extremely professional service. He did the registration completely on-line and like that my car was registered in PA. Boom. The paperwork was easy to fill out and it was all pretty simple. It's also located next to a Dunkin Donuts in case you're feeling like drinking substandard coffee. Anyhoo, I would recommend this place to anyone needing to accomplish anything auto tag related. read more

Alex was super polite and efficient. I went from having a pile of papers and a checkbook to having my tax paid, title transferred and plate in hand in record time. If you need title and tag you need to go see Alex - even on a Saturday. read more

Honest and quick service. I even lost the registration somehow and had to come back. And then again, quick and friendly service. If you just moved from out of state like I did, save the time and trouble... Just come here and they'll get everything done for you. read more

They are very helpful and courteous here. I bought a used car from out-of-state and registered it here in PA. They walked me through the whole process. I was in the middle of moving from Philly to another county, and they helped me update my address on my license and also caught that with my new address, I would be paying 6% tax as opposed to 8% for Philadelphia. They also explained the cost break down so you know exactly where your money is going. Great service! read more

This was the quickest most friendly transaction, considering how annoying stuff like this can be. I needed to replace a lost registration card and only had the original renewal form. I was in and out in 5 minutes. Super friendly staff and really convenient location. Thank you Alex Auto Tag for making my day! read more

I came to Alex Auto Tag to transfer my out of state title and registration to PA. Great service, easy and reasonable fees. Thanks Alex Auto Tags!

ALEX AUTO TAG Clerk Zac was a true LIFE SAVER for me in many ways. I have to obtain a new license plate to my existing title/auto. I had a very peculiar situation which a couple of auto dealers expressed weariness of helping me, but this fantastic team at Alex Auto Tag. They are true professional who know how everything works, what to be done, what to check, etc. They answered quickly on the phone that they are confident and comfortable of taking care of the paper work to issue a new plate with a new registration card, plus very clear information about the fees. The very next day, I visited the place, Zac who was serving for me was truly fantastic. He was very efficient, understood the situation right away, checked every corner to make sure that everything is taken care of. He answered to all my questions, concerns right away with sincerity. This business is in a small place yet full of intellectual property, energy, upbeat, confidence, and satisfaction to provide to customers. Awesome service, no comparison to other OLD STYLE auto tag places with ridged views, out of date tech clerks! Highly Recommended. read more

They did not know how to process a tag transfer from NY. Said I could come back later when someone else was there who should know how. Another half hour of my life wasted. read more

Saw a lot of good reviews, so came in to get some paperwork done for my car. Picked it up a few weeks ago, so had to get all the fees taken care of. Dropped in, staff seemed friendly and got the work done quickly. They charge 4% for a credit card, so I paid debit. In the end, paid sales tax, did a out of state title transfer, and registered the car. Total fees were about $90. They managed a $90 broke fee on top for about 10 minutes of work. Not sure how these businesses are regulated and determine their fees, but seems pretty steep for very little processing on their part. Glad it's done, but if I ever wanted to invest in a business with high profit margins, I think I found it. read more

These guys kick.ass !!! I visited there yesterday....Zack was just "Awesome".

I have nothing but great things to say about this place, both the owner and one of their other employees Zach were great. I'll admit I was a bit lost originally when trying to get tags for my new scooter. The DMV at arch was useless in giving me any sort of information, I had difficulty finding any other notary to notarize the title, and the whole process was a bit confusing. I wasted 2 days and several lunch breaks running around the city trying to get what I needed. Alex and Zach broke it down, helped me get all the paperwork I needed, and I walked out with plates that day. The two of them were unbelievably helpful. read more

I got ripped off by the dude Doug that works here. I disclosed very specific information regarding a form I needed sent out of state to take a hold off of my license. The insurance company he set me up with wasn't able to send out of state forms even though I told him the state and form I needed. He said the company he picked out would be able to send it. When I contacted Doug he lied and claims I never told him what state I needed the form for. I paid over $200 for the policy and now can't get my license renewed. Now I have to cancel my policy, lose all of that money and find a new company that can help me. He's a jerk, don't go there. read more

Having not known that penn dot requires you to send in insurance info when you switch companies , I had the unfortunate experience of getting my license plate taken away from a pa state trooper ... Needless to say it was a horrible experience . I went to Alex's to get a new license plate and he was more than helpful. He was able to speed up the process so I got a new plate that same day. The one good thing about the whole experience was dealing with Alex's auto tag. If you need to register your car I wouldn't go to any other place ! read more
