Marsh's Free Museum is the legendary home of Jake himself (you can find him in the back). The shop is an absolute treasure trove of curiosities. It features a mix of your classic beach-town souvenirs alongside more "not-so-typical" fare, like unique books, sweatshirts, and even knives. If you have some spare quarters, the old-school mechanical games are a must-play! The service here has always been great, super attentive and friendly. As for value, some things are a little expensive, but they also have affordable stuff if you look hard enough. They are not any more expensive than any other shop in Long Beach. I always make it a point to stop here every single time I'm in Long Beach. Whether you're just starting your trek down the strip or looking for the perfect place to end your journey, this spot is a PNW essential.

There are lot of curios, from taxidermy animals to old orchestreons. A lot of the amusing displays are in the back and in corners. I would say if you have small kids to be careful bringing them in as it seems like there are a lot of delicate items, from the piles of beautiful seashells in the front, to the porcelain items in the back. It is such a fun and unique place to visit, and the best part is that it's free! Although you will definitely walk away having purchased something.

Long Beach Razor Clam Festival - We were enjoying each bite!

This is a fun festival to attend. There are so many great parts about it, but the beer garden is…read morenot one of them. Sorry, lost a point for that. It used to be better but now they are limited and I feel that the area is not as fun as before. Let's talk about the festival.... The mascot is a Razor Clam! Yep, it is! Pretty funny. I actually go every year because I like when the town is booming and this seems to bring people out. Must dos are Chowder competition. You get to sample about 10 of them (2 oz little cups) and vote on your favorite one. It's fun when yours wins. There's free fritters but you only get a small piece (it's free) but it's fun seeing them make it. There's always a band playing. That's kind of fun. Booths, galore. One even had a mermaid in water once. I have seen the festival evolve. They got rid of some things but kept others and made others even better. What I do miss was the free items you would get if you visited specific stores. You would get a little booklet and if you visited one place, you'd get a magnet, if you visited another place, you'd get a key chain, another, you'd get something else. It made it fun to check out different places in the area. Again, it's worth going to and just enjoying everything... Oh, and the best part is that it takes place on a clamming day so before all this, you go clamming bright and early so it doesn't interfere with the festival. The festival even offers razor clamming lessons. I have never gone, but for those who don't have someone to teach them, it's probably worth checking out. April 2025

Hopefully I'll be there in 2016. Long Beach, a town of less than 4,000 souls on a windswept peninsula in Southern Washington opened its doors in April of 2014 inviting seafood lovers and nature lovers to come and visit. I would say the event was a success as I heard one visitor say all the hotels in town were full. Small town, homespun hospitality. The website for the event was: http://longbeachrazorclamfestival.com/ Events included razor clam digging lessons, clam chowder cook off and beach clean up, but most of all it was an opportunity to kick back and cool our heels and eat at many excellent restaurants. We even had some rain which was refreshing coming from drought plagued California. We stayed in a hotel room this visit but as I said, we fell in love with this hotel and have already made reservations for memorial day weekend in one of the newly remodeled condos. The grounds are far enough from the road that the noise of traffic is nonexistent. Only the sounds of relaxation and the ocean in the background. There is plenty of parking. A Pickle Ball Court. A Dog Area with Bags. Even a restaurant called "Dark Harbour." I love a good pirate bar! With free breakfast and a restaurant on site, your set up for a relaxing time. Usually "breakfast" is yogurt and cereal I don't like. They had that here as well BUT they also have a lot of breakfast choices. My favorite was sausage and gravy over fresh biscuits with sausage links on the side. There was cheese omelet, pastries, bagels, cereal, coffee, tea, juices and some other things. Really nice set up serving from 6 - 9:30am. My Mother in law can get up and get breakfast without having to wait on us. We had a nice time at breakfast. We even met another family and their son Sam. There is a nice grass area in the back. Seating areas, Gas BBQ's, Corn Hole games and a nice paved walking trai. There are beach bikes the hotel let's guests use and nearby you can rent electric bikes. The ocean is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. We walked down to the beach and stood in awe of the vast sands and waves gently rolling in. Downtown Long Beach is within a few miles of the hotel so there is plenty to do or you can do my favorite vacation idea... "Nothing." Not really nothing but sitting on the deck or taking naps with the sun on my face is my idea of vacation.

The room is clean and it has a great view. This place is good for families. They have loads of board games, volleyball, horseshoes, a soon to be pickleball court, corn hole, etc. They have tons outdoor grills and a beautiful lounging area that has comfy furniture and it's all lit up a nighttime. The walk to the beach is also very easy! I suffered a major foot injury years ago that never healed correct and it makes things difficult for me. I could do this walk with zero issues. Negatives: if you bring your kids they are not allowed in the hot tub. They also have to leave the pool by 9. This place is loud. Someone lightly walking around sounds like a stampede. People blast music in the outdoor lounging area so you can hear it when you have your balcony door open. The grills smoke you out when the wind hits so once again.... You have to close your door. The tub is original. So it has a really steep hard curve that makes it impossible to actually take a bath to relax. The towels needs to be replaced. They all had strings hanging. I feel like I had to wake up extra early to be able to leave my door open or enjoy the deck. If you have family this spot is great. If you are coming to relax.... This isn't for you unless it's off season. Breakfast is a little above average. Biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, oatmeal, and bagels. The bagels were the best. The staff is all wonderful and friendly. They made sure to warn my daughter about the currents and tell her to be extra careful.
