If you're a fan of either of these genres, The Paperback Exchange could easily warrant a five star rating. Seeing as how I don't have an interest in either, the selection for me was pretty limited. However, after some concerted digging, I plucked a copy of The Memory Keeper's Daughter from the shelf. It kept me entertained on my flight back to New York which is pretty priceless considering that it saved me from flipping through the SkyMall magazine again!

They have an unbelievable amount of comics and collectables that revert me back to being a kid (in a candy store). For me the knowledge of the staff is great as many of them collect and or read comics and therefore I have some interesting talks or debates . I highly recommend this comic store for the collector in you! Also they have a pretty cool little cafe to get a coffee or drink inside as well. Hero up!

It's a nice place to look for a gift for those geeky type of people too that are into cards, comics, action figures and board games. There's so much selection and if they don't have something, they will try their best to get it for you.

I particularly like coming here because you can always find the latest releases, often before they're available for purchase online. I tend to be anticipating releases for months prior, so I really appreciate being able to get them ASAP! The selection is vast and covers a good array of topics, interests and identities. There's what seems to me, admittedly v Anglo, a fairly big French section (and I think some other languages as well) and the kid's section is awesome-I read stuff fairly often that seems to be categorized as YA here. I feel very welcome and catered to as a queer person as well-the selection is super inclusive in this respect! You can also get many zines (lots seem local), manga, and comics here too, if those are more your speed. The employees don't pester you while you're browsing but are always friendly and helpful if you have a question. The current location is also accessible. For me, this is the ideal one stop shop.

They have a children's area which has the material from their old Little Island location. I could imagine taking a nibling in there to go comics shopping and having a good time. Entry requires masking which, well, we're still in the middle of a pandemic so protecting the staff and yourselves is just a good idea. The books aren't cheap but they don't overcharge, so that's good; you need to just disabuse yourself of the brain poison that Amazon has infected everyone with.

You might find a good value, or something. It violates pretty much every rule of retail in terms of organization and presentation, being more like a massive single retailer basement rummage sale. It's a shame, since the downtown store has been improving and the junction store is a good venue. I guess this is the picture in the attic.

My wife and I wandered into this store yesterday afternoon while taking a walk down Bloor. This store is PACKED from the front to the back and while that might overwhelm some people, I absolutely love being surrounded by thousands of books and the smell that comes with that. I spent a good thirty minutes digging through horror, Canadian history, poetry, and everything else before finally landing on something to read on the flight back home. The gentleman working was also great and definitely the kind of person I want to interact with while book shopping (I also support anyone going to see Napalm Death and Primitive Man). Overall, Doug Miller books is a must stop for any reader out book hunting. The selection was fantastic, the store was cozy, and the staff was fantastic. I'll definitely be back in the future!

Some even have great staff. The owner here is probably the nicest comic book/hobby store owner in Toronto, and I have been a customer at pretty much all of them. The off-peak day staff is just as friendly and welcoming, and it honestly amazes me how difficult that is to find with other stores. It's a small store, but it manages to have quite a bit of variety considering the size. Focusing on comics and graphic novels, but a really good selection of toys, and other merchandise considering the size. Usually even for unpopular items, at least a couple are ordered meaning non-regulars and those who want to make an impulse buy still have a chance; but by all means place an order if there's something upcoming that you really want. Frequent sales, fairly regular warehouse sales featuring a great selection of bargain older items, a really fair membership system and more make this a really good store to visit. I look forward to returning there once I am settled back in. It's a store that makes you want to shop there for gifts, and even makes you want to be sure that a certain item is unobtainable there or inexcusably cheaper online before shopping elsewhere. At least when I shopped there, so many of the regulars are friendly, well mannered, and intelligent as well. It was a place I was excited and happy to visit no matter what the day. Also be sure to visit Cybercity at various conventions, especially Anime North. It's perhaps not the place to visit for making unreasonable deal requests on Friday afternoon, but it offers a great selection of warehouse stuff and storefront items for a little less if you're not a store member.
