There are picnic pavilions and shelters which can be rented in advance but in less busy times if empty can be used by the public. There is a staircase at the corner of the park going down to the beach. Unfortunately the high lake levels the last 2 years have pretty much wiped out the beach. Hopefully that will improve over the next few years. The park has numerous festivals each year with the most popular probably being the Celtic and the Pirates festivals. Check it out.

But let me emphasize the "wilderness" part of the trail name; it's not as well maintained as some hiking trails you'll find in WNY. From the start, it was clear this was a hidden secret of the area. With no parking lots at the trailhead, parking was limited to a small cleared area alongside the road. This space was only large enough for about three vehicles. Getting into the woods, the ground was uneven and rocky, and any trail markings became lost or confusing. Trails were overgrown with tall foliage, and poison ivy and poison oak encroaching and often crossing the trails. This said, however, the well-constructed benches, the bridges, and numerous signs about the local wildlife did demonstrate that this trail had at one point been lovingly built. Be prepared. Wear appropriate footwear. Mind where you step. And keep an eye on the brook so you know which trails to follow. It is not a difficult hike, but it is more rough than was expected. Mostly due to the need for maintenance on a few of the supposedly marked trails.

There is a nice, clean restroom building as well as pavilions for rental and a pond for fishing. Semi-recently a disc golf course was added, which I'm not a fan of because they cut down a decent amount of the front part of woods and it takes away from the experience in nature. But, I suppose it's a good way to bring more people to the park. The hiking trails can be a bit rooty, rocky and muddy in parts, so best to pay attention to your footing. I don't mind it because it makes the hike more challenging. There are up and down hills as well as a suspension bridge. The trails are marked with different colors. I also like that it's not easy to get lost here since I have a pretty bad sense of direction. Also, I've seen birds, deer, chipmunks, squirrels and snakes here. Whether you want to have a picnic by the pond, get a good hike in or both, Royalton Ravine is a nice setting for it!

I got to sleep with some white noise in the tent but I would've been livid if I was in a site next to those people. Firewood is expensive here at $10/bundle. Most people don't camp here for the park itself though but rather as a place to stay while going to Niagara. It is conveniently located to things nearby, and camping there also gets you free parking in all the nearby parks.

I didn't see any other signs, but I had a hunch about the "Dead end" road across the street. The lot at the end of the road showed up on Google Maps. About a dozen spaces, too. The path leads to a boardwalk through marshland. Then you can choose to walk beside the meadow or explore paths in the woods. Eventually, it was a little too muddy for us, but I look forward to going back during the summer. The funny thing is when you leave the park, the back of the sign indicates the parking lot. Otherwise, it's a lovely well-kept park.

A background on how this became a nature preserve; the Lytle family back in 2008 donated this 112 acres of land. It's perfect for hiking or bike riding. Even though I came on a windy, muddy day after the rain still was a nature lovers oasis. The preserve is magnificent im sure in the heart of spring or middle of summer. One of Niagara county beautiful escapes for tranquility.

There's even swings and a playground for the two legged puppers. I came to add some books to the free little library. I was amazed at how clean and well kept the grounds were. Visitors really stay on top of their dogs. I didn't see a single pile. Or maybe all the dogs just become like those kids who get too caught up in playing to take a bio break.

Checking in is easy and you can buy campfire wood and ice from the main office, and they'll even deliver it right to your campsite which was nice because there was no way I was gonna be able to carry 4 bundles of wood ($5 each) on my bike. They do have a nice playground. Not sure if I mentioned that in my first review. This is a good campground for families. The only thing I negative I can say about this place, and it isn't even their fault so I won't deduct any stars, is that there's a dairy farm right across the street from the entrance out on the main road so if the wind blows just right you get that awful ammonia and poop smell throughout the campground.

Even though it was early May, and camping yurts and other things in park, weren't open, hardly anyone at park with it being offseason, we sure did enjoy the exploration of the park. Sadly we didn't check out the light house, as it was closed. The playground replica of the Point Light House was fun to go on, yes, as an adult, Ill admit we both enjoyed letting out our inner child. The nature trails may have been a bit muddy from recent rain, but easy to manage, recommend if you check park out after rain, wear hiking boots, or sneakers you don't mind getting dirty. Perfect for anyone whose a nature lover.
