Company never even called me to let me know what my problem was after an inspection. Got the inspection Thursday morning. Called five times for information. They had to get back to me each time and never did. They let me know on my fifth call that I need a new drain field. Lost a week of time trying to use this company. Pence installed our septic system over four years ago at our new home. We have had nothing but problems since. Our septic system smells constantly. They've been out and replaced gaskets and poked around. Nothing ever helps. We have had back ups in the house, leaks down the driveway, have already had it pumped twice! Every time they come out they never seem to diagnose the problem. It's just trial and error. Lord knows you can never speak to a manager or owner. It's absolutely ridiculous! Pence had been my go-to septic company until now. They came out yesterday to clean out the black water tank. Everything seemed to go well until I turned on the sprinklers later. A geyser erupted close to where the tank is located. The worker had broken a sprinkler pipe. I called Pence and was told it was too bad, they were not responsible, and would not repair what they had broken. I have had the tank cleaned out 3 other times without incident. Now I have to pay to repair damage Pence caused . Pence will no longer be the company I recommend! read more

First off I must say I called to make an appointment for my septic tank to be pumped out and the lady told me it be it would be at least 3-4 weeks for them to come out. I called another company and they came out the same day. Later on I called pence again to request an estimate for a new septic system and they came in a couple of days. The man poked around here and there and proceeded to in form me that there were two tanks in the ground. Being a retired contractor I already did my own probing and determined that there was only one tank. He later corroborated that I was correct. Then he started going off on how one of the employees was constantly late to work, as if I need to hear that. He said I should receive their proposal in a few days. Well a few days went by, I called and was informed by the lady that these things take time and they would get back to me. A week later I called again and the lady said she'd have someone check on it and get back to me . Still have not heard from them. Called again in a week and same line given to me. No response whatsoever. I really don't understand what's going on with this company. I would highly not recommend them!!! read more

We have been having septic problems for a while and were told by another company we needed a new septic system. Pence was recommended by several friends so on 8/13/18 we called them for another opinion and quote. The first appointment they had for someone to come inspect was 8/29. Lynn came that day as promised and he seemed very thorough and told us we would get a proposal from them "probably Monday." Monday was a holiday, but by that Wednesday we still did not have anything from them. We are living in a home without a properly functioning septic system and time is crucial. On Wednesday we called again and were told "it usually takes a week to a week and a half" to get the quote. The following Wednesday, 9/12, I called again and was told Lynn had been attending a class and had not been in the office, but he would be in the next day and she would remind him. Today is 10/1 and we have never heard another word from them. If they didn't want the job, all they had to do was say so so we could move on rather than anxiously wait for their quote. We have since contracted with another company. We are extremely disappointed in this well known, longstanding company. They people were all very courteous and nice but that doesn't get our problem resolved. read more

I called Pence for an estimate and they said it would be a few weeks before they could come out; i'd heard they were great so i waited; they came out on 11/27/17 and did the inspection; i started calling the next week and i called almost every single day, at least once a day, sometimes twice, for the next 4 weeks and today is January 10th, 2018.............each time i called after the first few times, they knew my voice and said "hello ms. **"; they always said that someone would get back to me in just a little while; once the person who answered the phone even said to me that "it takes a few weeks to get the estimate you know" and i said "it's been 4 weeks already" and she said "oh"; i have to admit that towards the end i took it as a challenge; i wanted the darn estimate even though i had no intention of using this company; if i can't get an estimate and i can't get a straight answer, why would i use them? anywho................the 8th i called again and asked to speak to the owner and they actually asked me what it was in reference to - this is after they recognized my voice and called me by name - i said "you're kidding, right" and then i said i needed to speak to him with reference to the wait for an estimate; miraculously, as if from heaven above, the person who did or typed the estimates called me that same evening............................and told me that the work order had been lost or misplaced or something and i said ' all you had to do was tell me the truth' and she said she would email it to me before she left - and it was really late; next day - no estimate - i actually called there - don't ask me why - i kinda felt sorry for the woman because she was obviously distraught when i was speaking to her, and i told her i hadn't received it - i looked in my regular mail, my advertisements and my spam and it was nowhere to be found; she swore she'd emailed it and i finally gave up and said - why don't we just call this good - i won't call your company ever again and then i hung up. Suffice it to say, the owner of the company never called me; I know there are times when folks are having a bad day, are overworked and stressed out, but i think this is poor business practice at the very least. read more
