While I appreciated their history, classic look and the fact that they were still in good shape, it was clear they needed to be updated. I contacted several window companies around town, both local and national establishments. After being put off by some of the high pressure, in person sales tactics other places had, I found the approach that Brian and his team at Zen Windows very refreshing. I also saw that they were voted Best in Charlotte by Charlotte Magazine in 2020, and I wanted to support a local business if I could. Brian was very generous with his time, and it only took a few phone calls with him and a quick visit from his installer to get measurements for them to have all the information they needed. I was impressed with how simple and straightforward the process was. Another huge selling point was that I wouldn't have to pay anything until the job was complete, a big difference from other companies. The turnaround took about three months for the windows to be built, but I would chalk that up to COVID, supply chain issues and increased demand for home projects because of the pandemic rather than anything on Zen's end. Quoted turnaround times at other businesses were similar. Once the windows were ready, Zen sent a simple three man crew to my home to perform the installation. Each gentleman on the crew probably had 30-40 years of window installation themselves, so as a team they were pretty capable. In just two quick morning sessions, my windows were complete! I'm extremely happy with the end result. The windows are fantastic, incredibly easy to use, they look great (black exterior FTW), and I can already tell they perform much better than the old ones. Brian and his team did an outstanding job, and I would recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their windows!

The exact verbiage from the contract is, "The Contractor is not liable for damage to hidden water, electrical, gas, and/or HVAC lines." However, in the photo sent of the damage, the HVAC line is clearly visible. When we pointed out that the line was clearly visible, they claimed they were still not responsible and would cover just $250 of the $2133, but only if we removed the 1-star Google review we had just left. After several attempts to get in touch with the contact on the contract and the business owner, we got no response.

When we went to put up our blinds and the windows were recessed in too deep and there is no way to hang our blinds. We have contacted your company on several occasions and the salesman, Paul, was sent out as well as the lead installer, Travis, (not the person who originally installed the windows) and both did not understand why the windows were installed this way and said they would get back to us. After contacting the company in Greenville several times, Jon Burr, called me back and said there is nothing he can do and they installed a functioning window. I said you have not even seen our windows in person and he stated he was happy to come take a look but his answer probably will not change. I find it very hard to believe that everyone that gets replacement windows will not be able to have blinds and if that is the case this info should have been presented well before we agreed to the new windows. So we just spent $10,000 with this company on windows and they are telling us now that we cannot have blinds? I have not been able to put up blinds in my 2 year olds room or our bedroom which has been a disaster! The windows are recessed too deep and are not even placed where the original windows were placed. We just want this problem fixed. We have left several messages for Mark or Karla Nichols, the owners of the company, and are still waiting for them to respond. I would recommend using a different company if you need new windows.
