No question, this condo unit (#1607) and location is great! 5 stars! I booked through vrbo and the host was very nice and responsive and even checked in on me during my stay. And helped make a couple of local spot suggestions. The condo unit is super cute, liked the open layout, it was clean inside, it has a great view of the Gulf and loved hearing the waves all the way up on the 16th floor like they were right outside my door. It was easy access to everything. But the building and property itself I give this place 2-3 stars at best.... The location and amenities are great, but the property and elevator cleanliness are not. This is no reflection on the owner/host for the specific unit I stayed in, but the building entry from the front and back and inside the elevators were never clean. There was trash and dirt/debris inside the elevators every time I went in one, there was dirt and trash at the lobby and entry way as well as spilled food outside the front automatic entry doors in the driveway for at least 2 days (it was there when I left), which you right walk by on your way in and out to the parking garage. However, they did do a fairly good job keeping the floors dry from the pools, beach, etc. as there is a lot of wet foot traffic and each and every afternoon they had the air dryers on! The pool, hottub, direct beach access, sun, wind, waves.... there was a tiki bar, it's only open until 7 and it closed early one day due to weather but did not reopen when the weather was totally cleared - I came back from my day's excursions early just to hang out by the tiki bar that day. :( Overall, I would stay here again just because of the direct contact/rental with the condo unit's owner... Definitely facing the beach for the best views! Despite the building's cleanliness issues, it was a lovely stay!

Pros: Room 1614 big Great view of the beach Two pools Fully stocked kitchen Two full bathrooms Complimentary parking Beds comfortable Washer and dryer in room Quiet After 5pm, the beach is practically empty even on a busy weekend like 4th of July. Cons: Elevators hot- no Ventilation or AC Must wear bracelets Before 5pm, the beach is crowded with the rental companies lounge chairs and umbrellas, but not as bad as some reviews say it is. Check In was a breeze. They had our room ready and all of our paperwork in an envelope. They placed our arm bands, gave us parking pass and we were on our way. They do have a spot where you can park and unload your luggage. You can use their luggage carts. Just remember to be courteous and return them in a timely manner. We were in room 1614. It was a two bedroom, two full baths. The master bedroom overlooks the ocean and has a king size bed. The second bedroom has two twins. The living room also has a sofa that can turn into a queen size bed. We had no problems sleeping soundly on the beds. The bathrooms were clean. Toiletries included bar soap, shampoo and lotion. The kitchen: fully stocked with pots, pans, utensils. You do have to bring coffee maker filters and dish soap. They even had a blender. The balcony was big. It had a great view of the ocean. You can partially see your neighbors balcony, but you still get enough privacy The pool: a decent size. Not overrun as I would have expected on Fourth of July day and weekend. They have one indoor and one outdoor one. The indoor seemed to always be empty. The gym: typical hotel gym. Treadmills, elliptical and weights available. Parking was easy and always available. Extras/tips: - there's a big grocery store right across the street - Merlin's pizza delivers. Don't use grubhub. Order directly.

My husband and I stayed here this past weekend and we absolutely enjoyed it! So relaxing! Our waitress for the weekend Caitlin was AWESOME!! I don't normally leave reviews but this girl deserves some major credit for our great time there! We can't wait to come back!!

First of all I have never written a negative review but our experience with this resorts management was infuriating. We stayed 5 nights at the Pelican Beach Resort. The room was pretty clean, a bit outdated but the view was amazing. There was construction noise, which is understandable and we dealt with it during our stay without complaint. However on our last day we were waiting for our ride to the airport and had paint dumped all over us. While our ride waited for us I went in to notify management what had happened only to be told that we had already checked out and there was nothing they could do for us. There was literally paint all over my hair as well as my daughters and on our clothing and luggage. I have filed a claim with the HOA board. If this is any indication of how they treat guests on a regular basis, I would book else where.

Pros: -Location -Views -Nearby restaurants -Nearby groceries -Beach -Our Airbnb hosts, Steve & Oscar Cons: -A little run down -Not the cleanest -CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL (I had a horrific experience when my sisters and I tried to stay there for a girls weekend. The front desk was so rude to us, especially a woman named Terri and whoever the male manager was. The manager literally turned away from me as I was trying to ask him a question and waved me off. And then Terri rolled her eyes and scoffed at me when I tried to ask her my question. Come on people - get some employees who know how to treat others with basic respect!!!)

The main room. The two bedrooms to the right each sleep two and the sofa pulls out as a sleeper, as well.

We stayed her over spring break in 2018. Our two room condo was nice and we had access to everything we needed including a great view. The boys enjoyed the heated pool and while we rented an umbrella and some chairs for $35 a day and hit the beach. And you can purchase tropical drinks from a local cabana. What's especially nice about this resort is that it is secured 24 hours a day and provides the visiting party with a $25 gift card to the pool side cafe for food or drink. Things to note: during spring break there is constant activity and the hot tub gets packed. Mornings are a great time time to enjoy the amenities sans people.

    Roaches

Roaches! We had German roaches in our condo. I told the front desk the first morning we were there and they said they would spray while we were out. I do believe the unit has a nest or infestation because they were all in the kitchen and despite being "sprayed" they kept coming out. From the sink, the garbage disposal, on the counters, floor, one was stuck inside the clock on the stovetop. It made for a very uncomfortable stay since we paid so much money to stay there. We stayed in 914 and the only positive was that there are two king size beds in the condo.

This is your view if you prefer not to pay an ADDITIONAL price for the third party chair service.

If you prefer serene beach views in the comfort of your own chair, or you need a canopy/tent for your entire family or little ones; you can forget it at this resort! No where on their website is it advertised that there would be no space for your personal belongings except the first 20' from the dunes. The entire square owned by the resort is littered with 5 row deep third party vender chair services. For an additional $45-$50 a day, you can enjoy this vendor service on top of the already high price for the resort. But, no guarantee you will have an ocean view. For the week I was here, almost half of the chairs littering this section stayed empty the entire day. If your children wanted to play in the water, you have a LIMITED time to stand near the waters edge to watch them before being asked to vacate. How is this family friendly? How is this GUEST friendly? What little we did see of the ocean and beach from our balcony, it was beautiful. The guest service was lacking customer service and elevators stayed under maintenance with one set down completely. No resort is perfect but with the money they are making from the vendor, adequate elevator services should be easy. 10/10 do not recommend for beach vacationers.

We vacation often in Ft. Walton beach down the road, but this time we thought we'd try something different. Overall we're glad we did. We booked through VRBO and got a personally owned condo. It's very nicely appointed, had everything we needed and then some. Condo was clean and felt like home. Also Wifi was best we've had any resort we've ever travelled to. For my kids that's a definite plus. Pools are nice and heated. Hot tubs are very nice as well. Security is strict, they make you wear wrist bands everywhere and you're not allowed to remove them. This place also has a tiki hut with food and frozen drinks. Pretty unique to Destin. Beach is the worst part about the place. It's run by a company that rents out chairs and umbrellas. They have 5 long rows all across the beach. If you want to bring your own chair etc, you have to be behind the rows of bought chairs. Want a front row seat, too bad, you had to book that months ago. Also this service is extremely expensive. $175 for a week, or $35 for a day. Overall, I'd stay here again, but wish they'd do something about the beach service. It's a bit ridiculous.

security wrote all of these people up and gave the info to the front desk

Imagine paying thousands of dollars to stay at a resort... having to go floor to floor to do laundry because they have so many broken machines. they have a no smoking policy on the entire premises but yet people smoke cigarettes and weed on their balconies all day. i've yet to enjoy a sunrise or a sunset without dealing with smoke. my kids have been pointing it out all week. marijuana alone is supposed to be immediate removal from the resort... but yet they're writing people up for hanging towels to dry on the balcony. makes zero sense. they also let people swim in full outfits that they would wear on a regular basis and claim they can't make people wear swim attire because it's against their religion. mind blowing honestly. as strict as this place seems, don't worry there really aren't any rules that they make people follow.. except the towels on the balcony part. apparently that's their biggest concern.

We enjoy our condo rental. The chair/brella rentals were less than desired for a family of young children. Smoking was common place outside and on the beach, was than desirable for a family of non-smokers. If we were to plan another Destin vacation, we would definitely consider this spot! The beach is beautiful and it is close to all shopping and fun we like to do while in Destin.

7am and restricted access in either side of these umbrellas.

Throughout the years I've stayed in almost every condo on the first floor, and 209 and 211 on the second floor. Every time it has been wonderful. Check in is at 4, which is kind of late. But if you show up early and your room has already been cleaned and inspected they will almost always allow you in. The front desk staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I've never had a bad experience with them. They always greet you with a smile and are super kind. Almost every condo has a king size bed, 2 bunk beds, and a pull out couch, so you can easily fit 6 comfortably. There is a full kitchen with cookware, 2 bathrooms, and one shower. From the living area there's a back porch that overlooks the gorgeous powder white sand and emerald coast. You're provided with 2 chairs and an umbrella. On the first day you go to the beach you can reserve your spot for the week so I would recommend getting to the beach early the first morning. There's also a pool and hot tub in the complex for when you need a break from the beach. One huge plus of staying here is that there is only 3 stories. The beach area behind Destin Beach Club is reserved for only residents so the beach is never overly crowded at this condo. Since you're right on scenic highway 98, you're close to everything there is to see and do in Destin. There's a plethora of restaurants, souvenir shops, and shops. You're also right next to the Destin harbor and all the new things it has to offer. Because of the great staff, amenities, view, and less crowded beach area, I would definitely recommend Destin beach club to anybody who is traveling down to Destin. Absolutely love this place, so many happy memories. Can't wait to be back!

They charge you for any housekeeping and don't allow you (for safety reasons) to borrow a mop etc. bring your own cleaning materials. It's obvious people don't cook because the cookware is awful! The room wasn't as clean as it should've been when we arrived, despite smelling clean. Our feet turned black and we do not wear shoes in the room- they come off at the door. The pictures give you a false impression that the resort is on the beach. It's not. In fact, it's located in the most touristy area of Destin and you have to take a shuttle to get to a beach or drive. The hotel beach is a joke. No restroom, no waves- just sand and sea water. There a significantly nicer beaches and water just a few minutes drive away. The Wyndham. It's standard for them to chase you down to attend a meeting, but the rewards are minimal. The pool- that's a joke too. Constantly dirty. Why? Because it's entirely too small for the vast hotel. There are not enough chairs. Towels- they give you a card to exchange for a towel. Lose it and it cost you $25. This doesn't scream luxury, more like cheap! At night you hear the party people down below. Here's what we liked. Our room. We had a 3 bedroom and despite finding someone's fake nail and candy wrappers, it was spacious with an incredible patio. Our view was perfect for the fireworks. Will we stay again- nope. Would we come again to this part of Florida, perhaps because the beaches- Miramar beach and Henderson state park beach were unbelievable! We would pay rather than stay here again. We drove around looking for Harbor Suites and finally went into Emerald Grande and they said, "yes this is the hotel!" We booked a suite for 3 adults and 3 children through hotels.com in Dec. 2025. Our confirmation states, "luxury room, multiple beds, balcony." When we checked in we stated we had 3 adults and 3 children. We were given a room in Harbor Suites. The room was not a suite! It had 2 beds for 6 people! We called down to the front desk and were told there was nothing they could do about it and all other rooms were booked for the night. We asked for rollaways and was told you don't provide them. So that meant 2 people in our party were to sleep on the floor!!!! I went down to the front desk with our confirmation and was told because it was booked by a third party, there was nothing they could do. After another discussion with the woman at the front desk, she said there was nothing available and nothing she could do. I said, "We need to solve this problem. How can we come to a solution?" The woman at the front desk said I could pay for another room. At this point I was done arguing and said, "If that is all you can offer, then I will have to pay for an additional room." Which I did and was given another room in Harbor Suites. When my 8 year old grandson entered the bathroom of this room, a bra was found hanging on the back of the door! The front desk called and said a woman had left it in the room after changing into her swimsuit and she wanted it back. So the woman and someone from the front desk came up to the room to retrieve the bra. So we were given a room someone else had occupied and no one from the hotel went back into the room to see if it was ok to reassign. We were appalled by this. Is this the kind of quality you approve in your resort? I was done dealing with the front desk and chose to write this letter instead. We were offered a $25 credit to one of the restaurants, but does this really compensate for the bad experience we had? And we don't understand why you push the blame to the third party booking company? Why do you continue to allow this third party to offer your rooms if there are continual problems? As a consumer, it appears both businesses were at fault, not the hotel guest. What a great location with many nice amenities. However, we cannot recommend this resort after our terrible experience.

There's two sides to Sandpiper Cove: - The gulf side has a surprising number of beach front units & Rick's Sand Trap Beach Bar & Grill. It's has a private entrance that requires a code to enter by foot or by car. - The larger area of Sandpiper Cove is just a quick walk across Gulf Shore Drive & has all the pools, tennis & pickleball courts, 9-hole golf course & putting greens as well as the restaurant (Louisiana Lagniappe). That side also has a gated entrance. Most security guards seemed friendly checking car tags & waving guests in. BEACH: The private beach access with chairs, umbrellas and a snack shack was so convenient. The chairs/umbrella perk seems to be dependent on the individual condo owners so make sure check your condo's listing to see what's included. BONUS: We spotted a pod of dolphins our first morning- there had to be at least 6-10 swimming around so close to the shore. Our particular unit seemed to be recently renovated with a nice kitchen, new & well maintained appliances, comfy beds and decent size patio which was fenced in so our dog could walk around too. We were in the larger area of SPC & only a few buildings over from the security gate so that translated to a quick a 5 min walk to the beach! The location was perfect especially when we decided last-minute to try to catch the sunrise & sunsets. PETS: Welcome in some units & the fee is very reasonable. Units vary by owner so it really depends on what you want & need: upstairs or downstairs, quicker access to: golf, tennis, pickleball, beach, pools, hot tubs.
