Pelham Parkway is a nice short trail, a little over 2 miles from White Plains Road to the I-95 so, you can get a nice 4-5 mile run in with a subtle incline when traveling West to East and back. It's best to stay in the middle and cross at either end so you don't have to deal with too much traffic. The trail is relatively flat, blacktop.
I mostly enjoy running along this trail because of the possibilities. You can start at White Plains Rd and when you get to the highway, you can take any number of directions. To the left is the North Trail, alongside Section 5 of Co-op City, straight is heading towards City Island/Orchard Beach and towards the right leads to Pelham Bay Park. These options allow for extended running and ample scenery, depending on your mood and ability.
The only downside is that during those miles along the parkway, you have to cross a number of streets so you might find yourself jogging in place while you wait for the walk signal or even timing the cars that are entering/exiting the ramps for the parkways. I like to go without stopping but on days that you need a break, it's helpful.
Traveling westward along Pelham Parkway has a slight incline. You definitely feel it but it's almost unnoticeable in the opposite direction. The pathway could use a little sprucing but the trail does the job. Happy running read more
