I've come here so many times over the years since becoming a resident in the San Antonio area, yet literally last Friday I stumbled onto a room (not like there's many!) that I've never been in! Pegasus has many "areas" that play different music from what I've seen. There's the stage outside where hiphop & cumbia seems to be played the most (They do drag shows out there too!). There's a center bar area that plays latin pop, but I've also heard english pop played in there. A corner bar where the bathroom is plays country music, and then you have a patio area in the back that's a karaoke spot. The location is awesome, Pegasus is on a block right by other LGBT venues. It's definitely a place that will appeal to your group of friends with varying tastes. I enjoy the "come as you are" vibe of Pegasus. The bartenders have always been sweet. I celebrated my birthday here and other patrons bought me drinks till I blacked out (opps!). Besides being a little packed, it's a fun place to shake your butt to the music of the night. read more

My husband and I from Ft lauderdale visiting this city stopped on the GAY strip so naturally we tried all FREE bars....We don't pay to get into a GAY bar to go buy drinks forget that. The place has seen its days but also had like 5 different areas to go and relax , see a drag show, karaoke outside and just a regular hang out bar. We really enjoyed this place.... First time in, 2.00 buck drinks where great. Staff seemed friendly. The over all atmosphere leave a little to be desired on the exterior and interior. I had to use the restroom and could not believe how disgusting and filthy it was. It was gross I just question how clean the bar area is as well. A dirty restroom that is not at all clean is a good sign if it's not clean then the overall place is not truly clean. A Clean restroom in any bar and or bathroom will tell you if you want to eat or drink there or not. read more

I walked in when there were only a few patrons there. (looking for some friends) and the smell was just plain bad. This is how it smells after it's been cleaned. It really needs to be hosed down and scrubbed. The scari-oke bar is just that, scary and smoky. Did the smoking is gross memo not make it to San Antonio? The front patio is the only place to get a cold beer as opposed to the barely cold beer inside. The only redeeming quality (and earned 5 stars indiviually) is the country bar with Lonnie & Jason. Pegasus is one of the 3 gay bars that are right next to each other behind San Antonio College (SAC). A lot has changed since the last time I was there. Back then, before I left for DC, Pegasus was a gay bar for older men. Its attraction was that it had dancers on the bar. Now, it's just really different. TV's have been added for music videos (Johnny Dangerous & Beyonce were gracing us patrons with their booming music.) Lights have been added to make the place brighter. There's a mini bar in the back called The Hawk. I have no idea why this was added. I forgot that San Antonio is not like DC, being smoke-free. So, you'll reek like cigarettes after leaving here. Nonetheless, it was a huge improvement from before and I liked it. Plus, there are additional gay bars down the street. And drinks are cheap!!!! That's the one thing I miss about San Antonio. $2 for Amaretto Sour. That's something you'll never see in DC. read more

Came out on a Wednesday night with some of the girls and we were not disappointed! Bartenders were so nice and attentive. There was karaoke going on outside. Multiple single restrooms for relieving. The only reason i'm giving this place 5 stars is because of the back outside bar and Karaoke!!!! Some really great singers are there almost any night of the week!!! Karaoke is 7 days a week from 10pm till 2am!!!! The front bar sucks and is way to small!!! They should take down the wall between the front bar and the right hand side country bar and create a big room with a stage for drag shows inside!!!! This place is so much bigger than it seemed from walking by at 1am, and that's not just Drunk Tiffany. There's a huge front patio & back patio plus the twisty crowded space in the middle. We made it in, we got drinks at a great price, we went to the back. There was Karaoke! Also $1 Jello shots being served by a beautiful man in skimpy clothing. So, this place was definitely full as hell, I'll give it that. The back patio and the outside karaoke (!) bar were relaxed, but inside moving was like getting a herd of buffalo through, well, a very small place. The karaoke seemed interesting (though offensive to my classically trained ears), but the singers were truly terrible. The crowd was certainly older and liked to grope in the cramped quarters. I almost broke two wrists that grabbed for my personal areas - I daresay they'll have bruises in the morning - and that's a huge turnoff. All in all, the only positive thing was the karaoke section, and frankly, if I want to do that I'll go to Ego's. Under 40? Under 250lbs? Stay WAAAAY away from this 70s throwback grope-fest. This isn't on the top of my list, but it's my friend's favorite place to pick up drunk boys. The multiple bars is pretty cool, but the inside smells like a urinal cake and the outside bars are always sticky. I mean, always sticky. They do have events for local organizations, so that's usually cool. And the karaoke in the back can be interesting, especially when someone is really good. If you're looking for a place to just drink and don't really care about the actual place, this is pretty cool as everyone inevitably goes there. read more

I really enjoy having a night out but this bar has just never really been a good place to go. It's a lot of very very crazy activity and the bar service isn't that great. I'm positive the alcohol is watered down and I was paying for what I thought was Crown and it was for sure some nasty off-brand. I know my Crown Royal by heart. The bathroom is disgusting and I refuse to use it. This place needs work. read more

I love karaoke watching at Pegasus. I keep it strictly at watching distance because these karaoke-ers do not mess around y'all. This is not the place to gather your group of friends onstage for a drunken rendition of Beyonce, or at least I've never seen it. The back bar area is great, with small tables for sitting and watching, if you get there before it gets too packed. I will admit that I'm not a fan of the inside bar/dance room because it is an extremely tiny, poorly planned out room that takes an hour to get through once it's crunk in there. The bartenders are all very sweet, and politely obliged when I asked for the TV to be changed to the basketball game. Now, here's the most exciting secret that I'll let you in on. Apparently the frozen margaritas on Saturday nights follow a special (read: stronger) recipe. For only $5, you can get a double marg that will have you up on that intimidating karaoke stage in no time. As for the "trashy" comments I've seen in other reviews, I think Peg is better described as a no frills, unpretentious, but extremely fun, come-as-you-are bar. read more

I've never really cared for "The Peg" (as the locals/regislars call it). It's small and always packed but there always seems to be very trashy people here. I normally get here fairly early (around 10) and people are already falling over drunk. There's not a particular crowd here...just a bunch of people that seem to be just trying to find someone to go home (or to the bathroom for that matter) with and get it on. The Peg is not the highest end bar/club on the strip, but it's the one where you can be yourself. There's a ton of different types of people here. It's not unusual to find the guy both in a cowboy hat and boots and the guy in the booty shorts, and they'll both be buying jello shots from one of the many muscled, young men walking around in their little underwear. It's a really chill environment, though it's a place that encourages sitting and relaxing more than dancing, and that can be a little hard since the music is so loud. However tonight I was treated to several Beyonce remixes, and we sat outside and chatted, so it worked out fine. The tables are super sticky, and it can be hard to get the bartenders' attention, but overall, it's just a very relaxed and comfortable "come as you are" vibe. I will say that almost $4 for a Lone Star seems a little over the top, but since I've been coming here for a decade, I'll deal with it. Plus, the karaoke is always a sight to behold. read more

Repulsive odors, BROKEN JUKEBOX, sticky bar tops and stools and filthy patio!!!! The odors inside this bar are unbearable....the owner clearly doesn't return even the basics to his customers....there is dust everywhere and the bathrooms reek of days-old urin and vomit.....DONT BOTHER TAKING YOUR VISITING GUESTS HERE- you will be embarrassed and ASHAMED! Hopefully if you go, the jukebox will at least work....because it didn't last night and there was no DJ....the bartender kept having to go up into the DJ booth and refresh his laptop so the music would keep playing (with NO base!). There are plenty of other nearby bars/clubs in the same area where their owners take pride in their establishments.... and clean and update the environment regularly. read more

When Logan V promises a great karaoke night, he delivers! We came to Pegasus after our recent CMYE. The place was packed. Packed. Gorgeous men everywhere my eye could meet. Unfortunately for me, they were all interested in the other gorgeous men about, but no matter, I still had an absolute blast. We spent most of our time in the back bar waiting on karaoke. Logan put in our requests and we waited out our time. I want to be the first to announce to the world the sheer dedication and commitment Mr. V. has to a karaoke song. He did a backflip on the stage whilst singing. The crowd erupted in a roar, everyone clapped and screamed and I felt like the proudest Yelp mama there could ever be. I drank beer and it was super cold. The service was fast and the crowd was hoppin'. I'd go back anytime - this may elevate to my favorite karaoke night in town! read more

Pegasus - Three bar area that sucks - Gay Bars Near Me - San Antonio, Texas

My friends and I had a horrible experience at Pegasus. Half of my friends (who are teachers btw) and I do not drink, yet were singled out by bartenders and one member of our group (who had not been drinking) was asked to leave. It's worth noting that another man, just standing and watching the show, was also asked to leave We were sitting in the karaoke area, minding our business. There were people there who were genuinely too drunk (I mean it's a club that's open late, what do they expect) and for some reason we were singled out? I asked for a breathalyzer since she was sober, and they said they didn't have one. Well, we weren't going to leave our friend, so I said we were all leaving. They told us to walk through the giant crowd (dumb idea if you're trying to escort people out, but whatever) and then when we told them what they did was wrong, the security threatened us with criminal trespassing charges. It was a horrible experience, and I will never go back. Oh yeah and the owner is a trump loving republican, so do yourself a favor and do not come here. read more

Pegasus is part of the strip by San Antonio College. This is one of the bars that has really good drink specials. On Sundays is when it is best. Around 5 they tap kegs of bud light and blue moon and charge .50 for a bud light and $1 for a blue moon. It is a great Sunday funday spot for anyone looking for cheap drinks. During the prime time weekend it is also a good time as they do have drink specials and have a food truck directly outside. They also have karaoke. read more

When I first started going here 4 and a half years ago, this place was great! Great people, great environment, great drink prices, great music! But... all great things come to an end, right? This bar is run down, and the smell of urine and feces in the restrooms is unbearable. The restrooms do NOT get cleaned for what seems like days and out of the 4 restrooms, only ONE restroom has a mirror. Don't they know gay men love to look at themselves in the mirror? Out of all the staff, there are but two or three bartenders who actually don't give a shit about the next dollar they can make, or how much money they can ring up. The others put on a facade to earn your tip. Now, I've always been one who said, "If you don't have money to tip, DON'T GO OUT", BUT I have actually heard bartenders complain they didn't get a tip from a specific customer! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! The chairs in the bar are torn and broken, and the outside bar area is filthy! The bar is dark and dreary and outdated! There HUNDREDS of bars if not THOUSANDS that have the amount of patrons who visit the Peg, and yet they are able to maintain a clean and safe environment. The passion and love of the inside of the bar is followed outside to the bar/patio located outside. There seems to be an abundance of overgrown plants and mis-manicured bushes that seem to go well with the lack of cleanliness and chaotic theme. The paint on the concrete platform bar is chipped and sticky, with residue of days old liquor and only God knows whatever else. The price of the drinks have gone up steadily, and although they're still fairly cheap, the prices of local bars are quite comparable; which are much cleaner and nicer than the Peg-a-pus. It seems there is a lack of motivation by the management/owner to maintain the facility, which is sad because it would have a lot of potential. Bottom line, the Pegasus is a diamond in the rough, but requires a lot of TLC! read more

I am visiting from out of state. My friend found this "Drag Brunch" show online and we were both SO excited to go. We walk in, the bar area is TINY. Ok, maybe they have a stage in the back.... we walk up to the bar and order our drinks from the 2 SUPER friendly bartenders. We immediately got out drinks, with a smile. We asked about the drag show and we're told it was in the back. We grab our drinks and head up the step into the back area to find an even SMALLER area with 2 tables, and an additional bar. The "stage" area was about the size of a photo booth and the seating non existent. Inside the back area was a table set-up with some "warmers" keeping food warm, I'm assuming the "brunch" part of the show. We sat, for at least 15-20 minutes before the show even started, and we had gotten there at 2:30 when the show was supposed to start. We couldn't hear anything from the main bar, and couldn't get into the back bar for lack of seating. The "Queens" walked past us on their way to the stage area and not a single one of them smiled or nodded or said hi back to us as they passed. All in all I would not recommend this place for a drag show. We ended up going down the street to another establishment that was also doing a drag brunch and had a way better time. read more

So this isn't your typicall uber-posh bar. It's a chill place to go to and drink cheap drinks. Go cutie Chad in the back, or Guero in the front and you may not remember your night...hah. They have kareoke on the patio which is always fun to hear drunk-tone-deaf-american-idol-dropouts sing their feelings. You do hear the occasional great voice. When it's hot out, the bar inside gets crowded. If you go on a holiday, good luck w/getting in before 10. They also have an event the first Sunday of the month called 'Bears, Beers and Burgers'. Burgers are good and you can pet some bears...bahaha. It is fun on those days. A nice chill place to hang. read more

This bar is a health hazard and a death trap! My partner and I were visiting from out of town, and were dropped off here by Uber because she recommended it. I am disabled and wheelchair bound. As we made our way around discovering the bar, I passed through a door with NO warning sings and was thrown from my chair face first onto to floor just as I crossed the threshold of the door. We had to use flashlights to determine what was pure black filth and where my actual injuries were. The gap from the door frame was 2 and half inches or more from the door frame and the concrete floor with no ramp that I could see. The managers excuse was somone must have removed the sign, but did nothing to immeadtly prevent other patrons to protect their safety. The manager on duty Friday night instructed me they had a law firm and walked off to gather the information. He flat out lied to me and my partner only having put the bars name and address. They had no medical kit to speak of, only a used can of antiseptic spray. I am sure there are many other code violations at this establishment but we left to seek medical attention. For your own saftey I would highly avoid this bar. From what I had to endure as a person in a wheelchair with thier lack of concern, how would they treat a non disabled customer? read more

No seating. Very crowded. Dirty. You'll have a hard time trying to get through and find your friends. Tiny rest areas. Be careful of the bar, we have had numerous problems with them overcharging us.
