I've been coming here for 3 years, since I was 18, and I've never had a problem with the people there. A couple of friends and I went over the weekend to celebrate one of the friends from out of state being in town. Two of us are 21, and one of us was underage. We weren't there long when the of age friend and I went to the bar to get a drink, and our underage friend got a sprite with cranberry juice. At the bar there was a woman leaning against it watching out and it was obvious that she worked there. I complimented her hair and she didn't seem to be in a great mood but that was expected having to deal with people all night. After we got our drinks we went to the bathroom which is a 30 second walk from the bar. We were behind 2 closed doors waiting in line for a stall talking when she bust in and told us that she was undercover and saw our underage friend taking sips of our drinks, which she wasn't, and it had literally only been one minute since we left the bar. I don't know if she was just in a bad mood or if she just thought she saw something she didn't but even the cups they give you for alcoholic beverages are different than the ones they give you for plain soda, so I doubt that's the case. We followed her to the security desk, and security was very kind even though they didn't believe us when we tried to defend ourselves. We all ended up getting banned for 30 days, yes the rest of pride month! I wasn't even that upset about not being able to go to Bonham because I honestly don't really go there anymore, but I know a lot of people go there for special events like birthdays or bachelorette parties and I'm just thinking about how many others she's done this to. We always have a great time when we come to Bonham. Their security/front door staff are always super nice and it's a very inclusive environment supporting the lgbtq community. They have multiple bars and music areas to choose from so you can experience different vibes in each setting. The only reason I couldn't give full stars is because one of the bartenders lost a $5 bill we gave her when paying for drinks, then claimed that she never had it. She didn't even bother looking on the floor for it either. Luckily drink prices were low, but still that could've bought me an extra shot if she wasn't so careless! read more

My very first time being here was fine but within five minutes of entering the club, we had the rudest bartender. He had a beard in the first room with the games. Very rude and my friend was ordering multiple red bulls and vodka and when I stepped up to ask for my drink, he goes "I already started pouring" assuming I was just going order that and would not let me finish trying to order. The rest of the bartenders were easy going and chill but this guy definitely has a problem talking to people. Since he was the first person we interacted with, it put a sour taste in our initial mood. The place is spacious so you're not clumped next to other people which is plus. Since it is a gay club, I wish they played more fun and iconic gay "anthems" to dance and sing to. I'd go again but avoid that one bartender. read more

This was one of the better nightclubs I've been to -- no creepy touchy men (huge), a good setup, and pretty decent music. The reason I give it 3 stars-- my friend and I are both 20 so we had to pay a $15 cover charge. They marked up our hands with blue marker that immediately came off when we went to the bathroom and washed our hands, but we shrugged thinking that it wouldn't matter since everyone 21+ had a pink wristband anyway. We were dancing and two angry, shirtless undercover security guards came up to us accusing us of intentionally trying to get rid of the markings, saying that we would be immediately kicked out if we didn't have them. We explained that they came right off when we washed our hands and they rolled their eyes and forced us upstairs to this closet-like room to get re-marked. I had heard that supposedly that if it's your birthday you get in "for free" I just decided to test that theory and told the lady checking IDs that it was my birthday in the nicest tone but I wasn't expecting anything. She in return said "what do you want me to do about that?" Like 4 times while I looked at her out of embarrassment and didn't really know what to say and I proceeded to say "uhhh my friend told me y'all do free entry for birthdays" and then she said "okay just tell them you're my guest" so then we went it and started having fun and got drinks, my friend told the bartender to leave her tab open for her and the bartender said "okay" then all of a sudden she got charged $150 and then they tried charging her $180 so her account got frozen for fraud??? I usually have fun here and still did last night but that lady at the front needs to be put in her place, you have no reason or right to give people attitude, even if I was spontaneously telling you it was my birthday you don't give customers bad service for no reason. read more

I go to the weekly Sunday jazz nights offered by the Roarin' Jazz Club hosted at Bonham Exchange (upstairs). The event is always really well done, offering a venue for bands across the San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas areas. The event is co-run by the San Antonio Swing Dance Society who also raffles off amazing jazz records during the band breaks. The community is incredibly welcoming and warm to anyone interested in dancing or simply there to enjoy the amazing music performed. You absolutely must make time on Sunday to drop by upstairs the venue and check out some really great jazz musicians. SASDS periodically offers beginner lessons, so be sure to keep an eye out on their Facebook page to see what is being offered that particular night. went on a saturday night and my group of friends and i had a pretty good time, music was fine and drinks were good. only thing i will say is my boyfriend is 20 and underage, he had one sip of my drink and a "rent a cop" lol was watching and kicked us out immediately, not even a warning but fair enough, we go outside and the lady tells us him and i are BANNED FOR LIFE. i was honestly shocked like i mean ban us for a month or a year yeah but FOREVER? you kidding? then if things couldn't get worse my friends truck got broken into and his girlfriends card got stolen. the cops came they were nice and helpful, my friend had to go pee so we went back to the entrance and i told the lady our problem and if my friend could just use the bathroom. she told us i was banned and im not allowed the set foot on the property ever again, even my friend who was not banned, honestly just really rude. we went across the street to a hotel and was treated better lol. i enjoyed the atmosphere and most everyone in the place it's a lot of fun, but getting banned felt like a kick in the head and i didn't even get to finish my drink. well i guess ill never come back my choice or not. read more

This used to be primarily a gay club but because the dancing space (3 floors of it with different music on each floor) and music is so awesome, it has turned into a mix of heterosexual couples, singles and gay people. I've seen all age ranges there from 20 somethings to 40 somethings and everyone seems to get along. We have ended more than one pub crawl at this place and have never seen or experienced any problems with staff or other patrons. It's REALLY a fun place and great for dancing! read more

Had the worst experience ever tonight. We had already gotten into the place, my family of 8 had already ordered drinks, my sister in law runs to the bathroom and suddenly the bartenders are claiming she's underage?? After they had already scanned her ID at the front and given her an over 21 wristband. The rent a cops cornered them when her and my brother got out of the bathroom demanding to see their IDs, my brother provided them with it and the rent a cops started pushing them out the front door. My parents were questioning the rent a cops and they were stating she's underage drinking??? They literally scan IDs at the front you're going to tell me that the machine is broken/faulty?? The rent a cops were pushing my brother and my mom stepped in between them to stop them from getting physical with him and then the rent a cop shoved her. She immediately started recording and they stepped away from us and asked us to leave. All 8 of us had already ordered drinks and they refused to give us a refund. We will not be stopping at this bar ever again for any future Pub Runs. Worst experience and the shittiest rent a cops. read more

Bonham Exchange is the last bar for the monthly First Fridays Pub Run San Antonio. May's theme: May the 4th Be With You! I love this place! There are 5+ areas to party with various music genres. It's a LGBTQ+ bar that everyone is welcome at and can feel comfortable. The music is pumping, the dance floor is plenty big in the downstairs area. Oh yeah, it used to be a church! The drinks are inexpensive, the staff friendly and there's food outside in the courtyard. It's definitely one of my favorite if not, my favorite bar in S.A. to go out and dance in. read more

That said, the madam who was in charge of the front door was totally cool, allowed me to visit the back bar, and order a drink. Bonham has a very relaxed vibe . . . Then again, I was about an hour early. There was a $2 well-drink special, so I pretty much ordered a triple gin and soda, nursed it for a bit, and left for another adventure.
