Came out for emo night. Security was unfriendly. Didn't like how they were wearing bulletproof vests. Too much of a reminder of the problems in the world. Difficult club to relax and have fun at. Also was touched by security to move because I was looking at the candles on the wall. Pretty off putting experience when you're trying to have fun. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Horrible security. On Sunday night I don't know what his name was but the taller dude or checked my purse who also said I showed signs of intoxication so I had to wait for the manager. While I waited for over 20 minutes he let 2 girls in that were clearly intoxicated abut they flirted with him to get in. read more

Best value of drinks with the hottest people to people watch for. Also, the staff are be friendly and approachable. Austin was kind, serious about business but very good at his job. As a regular he's a new face but definitely deserves a raise for his hard work. He's great at crowd control and sternly keeps the area free and clear. read more

I don't get why there are so many bad reviews -- this is honestly the only spot in San Antonio worth pulling up to if you're going out. There's no just standing around or awkwardly staring at people here -- everyone is dancing, jumping, and actually having fun. My drink of choice is an Adios MF and they are great here. I've been here at least once on every day of the week they're open, and it's always a blast. New Year's Eve is always insane, Fridays and Saturdays have the best music for dancing, and Emo Wednesdays? Always amazing. Apparently, they do ask people to cover up neck or face tattoos, except on Emo Wednesdays and Thursdays, which might explain why my friends and I have never had any issues getting in. Either way, this place is a total vibe -- ignore the negative reviews and just go have a good time. read more

Noticed a woman ordering about 10 'Cape Cods' and realized I had no idea what that was, so I asked the bartender (dressed as Buzz Lightyear with glasses). When I asked, 'What's a Cape Cod?' he responded with 'Can't you read?' and pointed to the TV behind him, while literally standing in front of it so I couldn't see it. Rude and unnecessary. After that he didnt even serve me and proceeded to ignore me. read more

Stopped in for a quick drink while I was on the St. Mary's strip. It was emo night to my surprise. I encountered almost a scary situation. A fight broke out on the dance floor due to the mosh pit ; but a helpful brass monkey bouncer Austin efficiently broke it up before it got to me. He was awesome for looking out for us. read more

I really enjoy the ambience and one of the new bouncers Austin is so nice and energetic I love his energy!

This place is fun and enjoyable when the workers aren't rude. The first time i came here, one of the workers told me to cut my hair in such a mean manner that i was disgusted by it. I was standing close to a fan and i was aware of it but i made a joke to my friend about my hair getting caught and he responds with "then you should cut your hair." The second time we went was last night, my friend had asked the bartender what drink he was making because she thought it was a cool drink and she wanted to order it. The bartender proceeded to tell her "Don't worry about it." So now we can't ask what the drinks are?? read more

Waited in line for 45 minutes and was denied at the door for genuinely zero reason wasn't even told why all they said was I'm not going in, incompetent bouncers who are either on a power trip or have the iq of a mentally deficient turtle and have zero idea how to do their jobs. Don't waste your time. read more

My group was full of 21+ people with valid IDS, and was denied entry because someone had an Id from outside of the United States. Have been here several times with no issue, when prompted the bouncers NOR security guards would provide the names of the people denying entry. Completely discriminatory towards non US citizens will NOT be coming again! read more

Here's the deal- when you come to Brass, you come prepared to DANCE. This ain't the chill and hangout backyard bar, it's definitely some place you head to for the dj. Brass always has a theme night going on, so be sure to stay active on their socials to see what is coming up. They are quite strict on security, but it definitely prevents fights/other unwanted behavior so you always feel safe. Christian, the current manager is super friendly but also not shy to making sure things are running in tip top shape. A solid place to hangout downtown and get a cheap drink, with some great music! read more

Showed up and security had "top flight security of the world Craig " Imagine having a whole party bus pull up, ready to spend money and have a good time... and the security ruins it before we even get inside. The attitude? Nasty. The customer service? Nonexistent. Congrats to the rude security for turning away a whole crowd of paying customers -- hope the power trip was worth it. I'll take my hard-earned money somewhere that actually wants business. read more

place is fun and great security, Juan is a great bouncer and helpful. Love the vibes al bartenders serve great customer service

Went here for the first bar of the night and they refused me for being "too intoxicated".

Love the vibes on a Wednesday. Can't beat $2 anything on a Tuesday. Just come with a good friend and expect good vibes!!!

NO BRASS they see my id is 22 years old and STILL DENY ME! He just shook his head no not even asking me any info so clearly they don't want customers who are willing to pay for drinks. Before this year I had been plenty of time idk what happened or why they are denying legal age people but it's very disappointing to go there to just be told no. read more

I went to Thurzgayz. The waitress served me "Tito's and Sprite". After my 3rd round, she made a "Tito's and Soda". I kept ordering the same exact thing, so not sure why she switched it up. She said she could not remake it and I would be charged for both if I wanted the correct drink. I tip well -- for sure tipped at least $30.00 for my drinks, and still ended up with subpar service. I would not go back based on this experience, along with the security constantly pushing people. There's other bars in San Antonio that actually appreciate you as a patron. read more

as someone who's been going to brass for 5+ years, i'm very disappointed in my most recent visit. i was told at the entrance that i will not be allowed to enter with visible neck tattoos (i have tattoos behind each of my ears about 3in. big) i was shocked bc of all the years i've been going this policy has never been mentioned to me and i've had these tattoos forever. when i asked to speak to a manager i waited outside about 20 minutes before giving up and going home without ever seeing anybody. the next day i reached out to brass via instagram dm's and asked about this policy. the photo is their response. so they only allow these tattoos on certain days of the week? doesn't make sense. in a city like san antonio (one of the tattoo capitals of america and a high latino population) i don't understand why a rule like this is in place it seems shady. if a policy like this is that important to them they should put it on any of their social media accounts or their website but it's not in writing anywhere, you don't find out until you've already drove there and waited in line which to me seems unprofessional and shady. sad to say it but i probably won't be returning, they probably don't care though bc they don't want money from people with neck and face tattoos i guess ‍ read more

I love brass monkey. Been coming here for years. Emo night is fun and thurzgays is cool. Only problem is that it gets so crowded and it's hard to dance. Drinks are cheap. Staff could be better though. read more

Went here with some friends, the dance floor's not that big but people are here to dance not stand on the floor with their bros. The music was a good sampling of dance music and some of the better popular EDM, not some DJ's obscure preferences. Security was diligent and very observant , but they are there for people's safety not to hassle people. Some people felt they were getting scammed on drinks but they may not have been observant of happy hour times. read more

100% they need to have a better process for who comes in. I was told I could come in just for someone to tell me I was not allowed in like two seconds later? Just need this place to have a better vetting process and not confuse people. If you want a great night wouldn't recommend coming here where people seem to have a power trip and make you feel bad. I'm used to Austin's friendly energy, would give zero stars if I could!!! read more

Dropped my wallet outside the bar (next to the "Greeting from San Antonio" wall), didn't know that for almost 2 weeks until I saw my picture with the wallet located near my feet. I'm glad that the "Brass Monkey" sign was visible in the picture, or else I wouldn't have a clue who to call I contacted Brass Monkey and holy moly someone had brought my wallet to them!! I didn't expect this to happen at all cause I dropped it at around 5.30 in the afternoon while the bar wouldn't be opened till 9 PM. The bar was so kind to send it back without asking for anything Definitely recommend this bar to any visitor to San Antonio. They wouldn't let me in with a Paper ID issued by the DMV like literally every other bar on the strip. But wanted me to show an "expired ID" when having expired IDs or multiple forms is illegal. So maybe educate your rent a cops on what is and isn't legal to carry in my wallet. read more

If you don't mind being over charged for crappy drink and if you wanna keep a tab open you have to give your driver licenses on top of your credit lard or debit card. I trust no one with none of my information. I paid 28. 00 for two whisky and coke drinks and it was low grade crappy brand. I really don't mind paying for a drink if it's a good tasting drink. Wanted it to be on record that this place has gone down hill and I will never be returning, on top of the drinks tasting virgin and the establishment being not the liveliest, the police guard had the audacity to charge and shove me out of the doorway for waving to my comrades who were on the other side of the door to signal them we were heading out. If having shitty drinks in a roach pit and then getting tackled by their police for STANDING IN A DOORWAY sounds like your kinda night then hell give it a try. I usually have a really great time here at brass but the other night has me traumatized. I was dancing and a fight broke out. They ended up slamming up against a trash can and fell onto my back and was trampled on for what felt like minutes. Thankfully it was maybe shy of 60 seconds. All security did was open up the side door to guide the fight out from the dance floor. My friends had to push the fight out the door for them to get off of me. After I was helped up we weren't approached by any staff or security or asked if we needed any help or first aid. I am really saddened to say that I will not be returning. Please be safe here when you come. Stay close with one another and if a fight breaks out LEAVE. I have bruises and cut all over my body. :(( do better. also I post all the bruises and cuts so there's a few I can show. read more
