Be advised, because his office is so new, his website (virginiasportsandspine dot com) is not on…read morethe first page of Google. You end up seeing a few other similar names, but they are not him. Use the address from Yelp. Google his name instead, Dr. Farid Mohammadi and use the Main St. Fairfax address. Or go straight to his website (not VA sports and spine, but VIRGINIA sports and spine) The most interesting thing I found about Dr. Farid was that the first time I used him for a chronic issue in both arms, I fully expected to be getting treated for an extended amount of time in order to fix this injury. I even may have asked him "how many appointments do you think it will take? a couple dozen or so?" He explained how he "didn't think so at all" and that he "prefers to fix patients for the long-term in as low a number of visits as possible" and that my issue "shouldn't take more than 3-5 appointments before we should re-assess whether there is enough progress to continue to use his treatment, versus seeking a surgical solution" WTF?! I was thinking, "What kind of chiropractor does that?!" After completely repairing those issues, I came back to him to see if he could fix my shoulder too. He is now in a new office and this review is about his new downtown Fairfax location. Received absolutely top-tier service again, and for a significantly lower price. (Take advantage of him now, because he is clearly undercharging in order to show the community what he can do.) Dr. Farid took as much time as I felt was needed (and significantly more than any other doctor I have ever been to) in order to understand the issue. After listening to the full history of my injury, he did some doctor-y movement-y stuff and identified the problem. He then explained the underlying cause of the injury and his therapy plan. At that point, he began my treatment. His website is not lying when it says he provides highly-specialized treatment. That is exactly what I saw. He's also a really friendly guy, which makes the appointment much better. Seems to have a pretty nice facility that looks like it caters to sports injuries. Makes sense, considering my injury was shoulder-related and he clearly had significant experience dealing with athletic movement-types of injuries. Will be going back and would wholeheartedly recommend above anyone else in the area.

My low grade spondylolisthesis was what brought me into his office originally but we continue to go to him for overall back, shoulder and neck pain management because his quality of chiropractic care is so wonderful. He always makes it a point to set time out in our session to talk about pain management and how to remain pain free after an adjustment session, and those tips have helped us leaps and bounds. Would highly recommend setting up a visit with him! During this time in particular, we have felt very safe visiting his office and we will be continuing to do so!

The receptionists are warm, well-organized, and accommodating, and everything that is required is taken care of with ease from the time you step into the office. It is clean, soothing, and carefully designed, right from the reception area to the adjustment tables. Every single visit begins with listening and an explanation so that you know at all times what is being done. There is never a sense of rushed time; everything is tailored just for your needs. My treatments have been precise, effective, and geared towards long-term results rather than quick fixes. I feel the difference after each appointment, whether it is reduced migraines or 6-8 hours or sleep. This is because Dr. Jesse has the knowledge, and concern for his patients to make a difference. I came into AFW with chronic migraines that I have had for 30+ years and chronic insomnia, Dr. Jesse not only adjusted me but also took his time to explain the reasons why I had these symptoms. At the end of my first adjustment, I slept for 6 hours straight and this a huge milestone because for the past 6 years I was averaging 2 hours of sleep. This is what chiropractic care should be, and AFW is a prime example of it. It is a place where I can definitely put my trust in, and I cant recommend it more!

Extremely disappointed and my trust was betrayed. Upon further investigation I discovered that…read moreActive Family Wellness was not in fact Active Care which was also in Fairfax. I provided my attorney information to the office and was under the impression that they were already in contact but the later find there was no affiliation. My trust was completely lost. I've been going to the correct practice which has a similar name and I've felt 1000% better with only 4 visits after being in terrible pain and trouble walking. last visit to Active Family Wellness I expressed that I was in pain and I mentioned to the office manager that I was in too much pain and I wanted to skip the tense pressure before the adjustment and I was told "You have to do it". which was so painful it brought me to tears and I didn't feel any better. Additional I was made to sign paperwork agreeing to pay a detailed breakdown of the when I have health insurance which I was completely caught of guard by. How can I know what the projected cost be for medical treatment? What ICD coding would be used for long term treatment? I don't appreciate being sold this "fallacy" of care knowing that I wasn't the first patient this happened to. Disappointed.

She had gone to the clinic for PT for about nine months but stopped because of the PT's rudeness. My daughter notes that the people at the front desk were beyond helpful and kind. Specifically, Anna gave us her email when my daughter hinted that she was upset about a different situation, and she seemed to genuinely care about the issue. David was also nice when we talked to him. Unfortunately, there were multiple occasions where my daughter felt sick and terrible during the sessions, and had to leave. When she would tell her PT, the PT would make my daughter feel bad and guilt trip and pressure her into staying longer. Recently, my daughter got sick and couldn't go to PT for about a month. After a month, she felt well enough to attend about 30 minutes. After the initial 30 minutes with the PT, my daughter told them she wasn't feeling well and would go home after one more exercise (that she planned and chose to do). They told her, "Okay, well just plan to stay longer next time." My daughter was extremely confused and just dumbfounded. She assumed the PT misunderstood and told the PT that she still wasn't feeling well from her recent sickness and had planned to only stay for 30 minutes. The PT double downed and told her to plan to stay for longer. At that point, my daughter was so angry she didn't want to talk to the PT anymore. She did the last exercise and left. Because they were not receptive to her feelings and symptoms, my daughter decided to stop going to the clinic, but we wanted to report it to their admin team. She sent in a contact request to the Jackson Clinics company admin team, but they never emailed or called us. A few days later, I cancelled all of her upcoming appointments at the clinic and the clinic director asked me why. I briefly explained, but my daughter called him back and told him more. At first, he seemed understanding, but near the end he seemed to be making excuses for the PT. He said he talked to her about it, and he didn't mention if she was even sorry or wanted to explain it herself. We later learned that Jackson can only bill you for the time that the patient is there. We assume they put pressure on their employees to make clients stay. While we understand that this is not the employees' fault, we expected more courtesy from them, explaining that they had to say it. Jackson most likely puts pressure on their employees so they get more money, but because of this forced pressure, we are not willing to continue service, and they lose more than they would have. We also recently learned that they sent an end of service note to my daughter's PCP. We know this is normal and expected. However, the PT lied on it. She said that she had explained to my daughter during the last appointment about their 90 minute model. She did not. She also said "patient was noncompliant with at home exercises." While this is partially true, as my daughter has multiple unreliable and unpredictable health conditions, the PT did not put in a lot of effort to help. We hope this review will give potential clients some insight and our goal is that they won't make others as upset as my daughter was, and still is.

If you would of asked me to review Spine and Joint when I started treatment October 2013 I would…read morehave given it 5 stars without even thinking about it. But since then a lot of things have changed. Don't get me wrong, Dr. Felix is very personable and memorizes every patients names and is very nice. He is very good at what he does, after my car accident it was a pleasure going every week to get adjusted and therapy with Dr. Felix. All in all the service and chiropractic care is great, Dr. Felix is a great doctor. But here is the reason I am only giving them one star. Never in my life have I been so disrespected and lied to by a doctor in my life. Since I went to Spine and Joint after I got into a car accident I had to have everything filed through the person that hit me's car insurance. The car insurance, mentioned that once the treatment was over we would have to get the itemized bills from the doctor and start the reimbursement process, but for now I would pay all co-pays out of pocket. Seeing that I graduated from college in 2013, paying out of pocket was really difficult, because of my student loans. I started treatment in October 2013 and my last day of treatment was March 2014, I definitely felt better and healthier. However, getting the itemized bills was the hard part. Our insurance holder tried calling Dr. Felix multiple times and had no response. I then had to take time to call and leave several messages because over a month went by and there was no response from spine & joint. This went on for several months, leading no where. Tried to be patient but by August I was starting to get really frustrated, and finally talked to Dr. Felix over the phone he assured me that he mailed all the paperwork. After 2 weeks, the insurance had still not received anything. To make a long story short, he basically told me he mailed and faxed it twice, with insurance never receiving anything. After me driving down to his office to speak to him face to face he finally faxed it in in November! It took 8 months for him to submit an itemized bill, and I was lied to and ignored multiple times. This story could be even longer and more frustrating, but I'll save everyone from having to read all the details. All in all, if you are going to a chiropractor due to an accident that you will late claim, I would strongly recommend to stay away from Spine and Joint.

This is an outstanding practice and if you are suffering or have been told you need surgery, check out the Spine & Joint Institute first. You'll be happy that you did!
