There are signs all over warning cars that all parking is by permit only and there's just a tiny strip of public parking available that seems impossible to get. It's first come, first serve and likely no one leaves if they are planning to spend the day lounging at the beach. This beach is small. The water is flat and shallow but cold. I think it was also too crowded. Unless you are a member of the Harbor with a permit, then you will probably go through trouble to find parking. Not worth it in my opinion.

I trained for a few weeks leading up to this trip to make sure I could handle the stairs. 391 stairs counted and verified down then up. Yes, I even counted the baby stairs lol. Down was pretty easy. The flowers were beautiful, being mid spring it was California iconic with all the poppies abloom! Twinkle and I enjoyed a very nice stroll, and she met some friendly dogs along the way as well. The windy was very gusty but as the afternoon progressed we enjoy lovely, sunny weather. There are two options, paved or dirt roads which was nice. The bikers were extremely polite and road sharing was not an issue. We greeted quite a few dogs that were on the trail with their families which is awesome (retired dog mom here). So many trail options, we plan to return.

This is also great for photographers. Pretty much the hills, grass, trails, rocks, and trails are amazing! This is also a great place for photographers. There are other places like those Battery ones and Hill 88, but my friend and I didn't really get a chance to go there since we pretty much missed the path and we didn't want to turn around. Honestly, it's really hot here and thank goodness that I bring water and snacks in case I'm thirsty or hungry. Most importantly, bring water! You'll need it if you're ever going to hike here. The trip is short in my opinion since I'm used to hiking for a long time. In the future, I am planning to come back here to revisit scenic spots that we missed. The hike might be longer since I enjoy hiking at regional parks.

Parking is convenient -- there's one-hour complimentary parking at the top of the hill. From there, it's just a short walk down a few steps to get to the sand (though it's worth noting that it's not wheelchair accessible). The beach has two areas: to the left is the main stretch, and to the right there's another section you get to by a different set of stairs. That side isn't very big, but it's a really pleasant area if you want to relax in the sun or enjoy a quieter spot. Overall, such a fun and relaxing place to visit, especially if you love being around dogs enjoying the beach life as much as people do.

You can access the 'beach' from steep stairwells off the cliffs of Belvedere, also on Beach Road. The beach is very rocky but is rumored to have good fishing, but you will need to caste out. If you are boating it makes a good spot to drop anchor, have lunch, do some fishing or you can use it to spend the night. Depending on how far into 'The Cove' you go, the majestic views include the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, Belvedere Island, Tiburon, and San Francisco Bay. Belvedere Cove is home of the San Francisco Yacht Club, the oldest Yacht Club West of the Mississippi. The Club is widely recognized as the premier yachting facility on the West Coast. It operates a year round facility including a dry haul area, a full service restaurant and bar. The Club also has a very active junior sailing program and all members are committed to the Corinthian traditions of yachting.
