Update: they successfully bullied my sisters partner into forking over $4k to drive our stuff up. It was so little stuff, that Pedro himself (the owner) drove it all up in an SUV. I was glad to see it was him, personally delivering. I thought it was a chance to smooth over wrinkles, one small business owner to another. Well. Guess I understand why his daughter behaved so poorly over the phone. Unfortunately Pedro is not interested. All he kept saying was that his daughter is pregnant and that she is hormonal. I'm a woman with kids, I should understand that, right? No. I've been pregnant twice while running 3 small businesses and I never cussed a client out on the phone. I never held anyone's belongings hostage. I never threatened anyone into closing out an invoice. Hmm. Yeah, "every person is different", like he said. I guess. He also kept saying that he built his business from the ground up and started with nothing and is now a million dollar business. That's probably easy to do when you're strong arming clients along the way. The daughter also admitted over the phone (as in used it as supporting evidence that she was in the right) that they had moved another customers items but forgot to grab some stuff of his. They made him pay full price for that second move too. Good to know. He also just called my husband, to apologize to him. You know, man to man, I guess. This detail is just icing though. What you really need to know about this business is that they do not conflict resolute well. Take the risk if you want. They have good reviews. I called Pedro movers to move a 1 Bhk + office den sized house to a new place 2 blocks away. Look at the image how little stuff we had (its everything except a desk and bookshelf). It took them 6 hrs to do this! Everything except was packed by us. They were not even cheap, at $170/hr for 2 people + truck. They sent inexperienced people for the job. One of them was literally on his first day on the job. They were slow to work with furniture (assembly and disassembly). They also didn't have any blankets or trollies, basic equipment everyone has. Even their guys complained of this lack of equipment. They spent hours wrapping furniture with paper (to prevent damage) and then charged us for the material. I have done countless moves and used many movers ranging from top-of-the-line white glove service (company paid) to day laborers picked up from the street, but this guy was bar far the worst. Seriously. His rates are NOT the cheapest. I'd say within reason. But I chose him based on all the good reviews. We had to move my mom from a temporary 1 bedroom apt to a new place literally 1 mile away, about 5 min drive. She had very few furniture (no sofa, no entertainment set, no bed frame, etc..) since she just moved from another state. I figured this will take 1.5 hour max, 2 trips at most. Moving day: Pedro shows up with khaki pants and pointy leather dress shoes. Extremely inefficient and did not seem like a professional mover. Their online booking needs work. Started fine through Yelp, then through their own system. I got a phone call to confirm it all, but the online confirmation I got sent back was for the wrong day. Fine, just had to call to correct that. But little did I realize there was no timeframe listed anywhere -- something or someone messed up in the system. So we wound up waiting all morning for a truck that was never actually scheduled, *and* it was a holiday, so they were hard to get ahold of to fix this, *and* the people on the other line are hard to understand because of weak signal, *and* then I got the bad news that all the movers were booked and couldn't come the same day. I decided not to risk any more stress and just stayed with them to rebook for the next day. Pretty inconvenienced, but the actual moving work was great and lined up with the other positive reviews, so no problems there, just with the administrative side. We definitely did our homework before choosing a moving service and had the BEST experience with Pedro's. Lalo & Manuel (our movers) were EXTREMELY careful, sweet, and helpful. We were even running late and they didn't give us a hard time on an already stressful day (our car literally wouldn't start the morning of in order to meet them at the storage facility...) they waited for probably 45 minutes and never once had a bad attitude, complained, or charged more despite that it was nearly 100 degrees outside! I would give 6 stars if I could. We decided on a Thursday afternoon to move the following Sunday and Pedro's moving service was able to accommodate. Super responsive, straight up and knew what he was talking about. I've never used Packers/movers and I don't think I will ever not use them. Super easy & thorough. Out of caution I moved some stuff myself, but with this crew it was unnecessary. They even moved a pain the rear cactus last minute and it definitely faired better with them then my cramped car. I was also a little dubious about the 2 bikes they brought down, but they were both in the same condition as when they out them in the truck. This is my second time using Pedro's Moving Services. I know that no one really LOVES to move, but I went into our move feeling good because I knew that we were in good hands. The crew showed up a few minutes EARLY and got to work immediately. I am pretty hands on, so they accepted all of my direction and they remembered everything. The lead for the job could see that I was in the weeds with getting some items together and offered to help. They worked non-stop. I had to remind them to drink water, since it was getting hot. They worked around my 2.5 year old which was very kind. They asked questions when they didn't know about an item [instead of just doing it and risking a problem]. I appreciated their clear communication about pricing. I was impressed that the entire process was complete in under 7 hours. I would suggest anyone moving to not just assume that everyone knows how you want it - you have to be involved and be a part of the process. I really disappointed for the NO service that I received, I called 8 times! left a message to Pedro, I wanted to say hi to him and asked if he wants to take care of our moving to Arizona, I never got a single response. Then I called two times to request an appraisal for our move last time was on Thursday. They never called me or email me to talk and schedule an appointment for estimate. TEN times I tried to reach them and no Response. He uses services trough a CALL center and they take messages and send Pedro them. I do not understand, if he is so busy, or never gets the messages because a move from CA to AZ will be a very good business for him. I was a VERY satisfied customer from our move from San Francisco to Benicia and only tried to contact Pedro because he offers Inter-State Services, but no service at all. Jose and Luis showed up 15 minutes earlier than the appointed time. For 3 hours straight, they not only worked hard but smartly. I appreciate that they wrapped up all my furniture and artwork in blankets and plastic film wrap. The previous moving company used a sh*t ton of plastic wrap and that surely added to the continent of plastic in the sea. I hope to see alternative solutions in the future. These guys got my office moved in the estimated 3 hours. They were courteous and positive, even when they had to climb 2 flights of stairs. I'm so grateful to them for making my move effortless. The only hiccup is the SF parking. They insisted that I paid for their ticket if they incurred one. I would've appreciated advance notice to deal with parking a big truck in SF. After all, I move once every 3 years and they do it on a daily basis. They should inform customers how to best navigate this. That's a policy issue, not a personnel issue. Let me put it this way: If moving is one of the seven circles of Hell, then Felix (Pedro's main damey) and his team are my Guardian Angels. I was moving from Pacifica to South San Jose in an effort to simplify my life. So, for a month before my move I was trying to manage a 2.5-year old; commute 2+hours a day; pack all my stuff and try to get some sleep (are you feeling the seven circles analogy, yet?). Suffice it to say, I was not as close to being as ready to move as I would've liked to when Felix and his A-Team showed up on the big day. "Not to worry", Felix said confidently. Well, he couldn't have been more right. He and his boys dissembled all my furniture; loaded up all the stuff I had managed to pack and helped me finish packing up all the stuff I hadn't had time to get to. The move went unbelievably smooth and I want to send a huge, "Thank You!" to Felix and his crew. I know I said I'd keep it short, but here are five reasons/facts about why you should use Pedro, a la David Letterman: 5) Pedro is a man of his word. I got three quotes and he was the only one that didn't try and sell me extra insurance. He basically said, "If we break it. I will replace it." And I believed him. 4) He has NO hidden costs that the other movers try and pull. He charges you by the hour and a flat fuel fee, and that's it. Extra boxes? Sure. Need some more packing tape? No sweat. 3) His guys are extra careful and will only create minimal damage. I'm sorry, but when you're moving a household damage is going to occur. You can minimize it by packing correctly, but $#!+ happens. It's been almost a month and the worst thing I've found is a small scratch on my kitchen table. 2) He gave me 5-movers but only charged me for 4.Gotta love the super-discount! 1) I've moved five times in my life and every time I've used a mover they've always ended up charging me the maximum amount on their quote. They dropped off moving boxes and reusable bins for us a week prior to our move which was way more helpful than we would have imagined. Day of our move from SF to East Bay the entire loading, transit, and unloading process was done in under 4 hours, but at no sacrifice to care. Movers arrived on time, took special note of items that would need extra care and got everything unwrapped and cleaned up in our new home before they left. TLDR: The guys who came to my house were liars and cheats. Only reason its a 2 star review is the management was somewhat reasonable and willing to negotiate a resolution. After getting multiple quotes for my SF to Oakland move, I decided to go with Pedro's on the basis of a personal recommendation from a friend and a competitive price ($100/hr for the move). The office gave me a quote of 3-6 hours given that we live in a studio apartment. My girlfriend and I were hoping to minimize the expense, so we decided to do all the packing ourselves and just leave the moving to these guys. They didn't pack a single box. (More on this later . . .) The day didn't start off great. While calling around for offers, I found out that many companies add surcharges. When I booked with Pedro's, I specifically asked if they had any charges beyond the hourly rate. The office said they also had a $35 gas charge. No problem. However, when I went to sign the paperwork, the sheet had a $100 "Travel cost" item IN ADDITION to the gas charge. When I asked about it, the movers agreed to remove it from the paperwork. Felt SUPER shady. Second issue: The move was taking a REALLY long time, so I started to get concerned. I went outside and quickly realized why. They came with a 30 foot truck for our small apartment, yet didn't have a ramp. These guys would load 4 boxes on their dolly, wheel it NEXT to the truck and then hand load the boxes one by one. One guy lifted a box onto the back of the truck, while the other guy has to walk all the way to the back of the 30 foot truck, drop the single box, come back and grab the next one. Seems pretty obvious it would be WAY faster to just roll the dolly up a ramp and drop all 4 boxes at once (that also would only take one guy, not both). I had to go to work for a bit, and called to check in. My girlfriend informed me they were "almost" done, 4 hours in. At this point, I realized there was zero chance they were going to come anywhere close to their quote. So I called the office. This is where things really go south. The office gave me the number of the operations manager, who as it turns out was also concerned this was taking so long (as he needed the crew for another job). At this point, he passes along the first set of lies and excuses from my movers: - They told him "nothing was packed" and thats why it was taking a long time. Nope. They didn't pack one box. - They say the elevator didn't work. Nope. I personally rode the elevator with them and watched them use it all morning. - They say it was a long walk to the truck. Nope. They parked RIGHT in front of my building. - They say we have a TON of stuff, and that the 30 foot truck is full. Nope. Truck was barely half full (which I later sent a picture to prove). Third and final issue: They disappear for an hour, expect me to pay for the time, and give TWO DIFFERENT LIES to explain it. My girlfriend calls and tells me they are driving away. Current drive time to Oakland: 35 minutes, so I leave work to meet them at the new place, and then I wait. And wait. AND WAIT. After an hour and a half has gone by, I call the office. The lady says, "Oh you gave them the wrong address" I tell her that I signed the paperwork, and it had the correct address, and beside, why wouldn't they call me? "Oh they called BOTH numbers and no one picked up". Um NO. Neither one of us got a call. At that point, there was no point in arguing, as the paperwork CLEARLY has the correct address. So the guys finally show up, and I ask them why they went to the wrong address. The guy shakes his head and says, "No no no, just traffic". I tell him that the office said different, and besides, it doesn't take 1 hour and 45 minutes to drive across the bay at noon. They shrug and say, "Truck is slow". RIGHT . . . Look, I'm not an unreasonable guy. They are working hard. OBVIOUSLY they stopped for lunch. No big deal. Everyone's gotta eat! But don't invent two different lies so that I somehow am responsible for paying for it. At this point, they know that I am pissed. Whereas it took them 4 hours to pack the truck, they magically unpacked everything in an hour and a half. When they were done the bill was WAY more than the quote and what was reasonable, so I told them I would only give a credit card to the office (they wanted cash in hand), so they called the operations manager. The operation manager was the only redeeming part of this transaction. While he defended his guys, and tried to make excuses, thats just backing your people up. The important part was, he acknowledged something clearly went wrong and was willing to negotiate the price. In the end I agreed to pay for 5 hours, which was at the high end of their original quote. While this resolved the issue, I certainly would not do business with Pedro's again. read more

My furniture were picked up on Friday and supposed to deliver on Sat. to AZ When I called on Sat. and asked to have approximate time for delivery the reception VIRGINIA said she would talk to driver and call back . 6 hours later I called and asked the same question. They let you know that there's a minimum order and give you the estimated quote. I have used Pedro's now for the past 3 times I've had to do small apartment moves from one SF neighborhood to another. Yeah it's more expensive than the cost of pizza/beer (lol), but the price comes with the guarantee that the move will be done right and done on-time. We used the moving and packing service and all we had to do is stay out of the way while Lalo, Manuel, and Manny packed up our apartment. I just moved to a new office yesterday and have lots of great things to say about Pedro's Moving Services. The first is that the building I moved into requires a fair amount of liability insurance from the moving company. I called many movers that did not have the level of liability required. Pedro's does, thankfully. I spoke with Maria on the phone, who was very helpful. I called 4 days before my move date and they were able to fit me in. I even called back to push back the move by one hour and they were able to make that change with no problem. The real stars, however, are the movers. Rene and Hector were my movers. They had to navigate parking in SF, which they managed to do without getting a ticket . I had several fragile boxes that made it safely. I had one large box that I didn't want anything on top of and they did that. All my furniture and artwork made it without a scratch. They were professional but also fun talk to and made my move so much more enjoyable than I thought it would be. I would highly recommend them! read more
