I really like that they will almost always be able to fit me into the schedule at my soonest availability. If someone is not available to answer the phone right away, I will get a call back from an advice nurse. That is a fantastic help to me. We have seen almost all the Pediatricians who practice at this office. I find that they generally are great about spending time with the patient and answering all my parent questions. I never feel pressured by the doctors about our medical decisions.

I was forced to bring my kids to this location after a nasty custody dispute with my ex husband…read moreforced them to change doctors. It was tough going from the only doctors they had ever known to a bran new facility, but we did what we had to do. Getting an appointment was easy, the receptionists aren't overly warm, but I didn't have any rude behaviors or mask drama like many people have reported. They do still require all patients to wear masks, and when we forget them they quietly hand us all a mask and we go in. The office is older but clean and well maintained. The bathrooms are clean and always stocked which is nice. They don't have books or toys which isn't an issue for me, but for parents looking for distractions you might want to pack a few. There is a fun fish tank in each office to keep little eyes entertained while you sign in or fill out paperwork. Our kids have seen Dr Turner who I was pleasantly surprised with. She was calm and had a very welcoming demeanor which made it easier for my kids to warm up to. She took her time listening to them and addressing the concerns they had. We never felt rushed or unheard in her presence. On one occasion my son thought it would be funny to put a piece of fake dog poop on the chair as a prank. When she walked in she totally rolled with it and was so silly with him. She scored extra points for that!! She places orders quickly and is easy to contact which is also really nice. All of the nurses/LVNs have been amazing. They take their time and really practice patient centered care. One nurse even did breathing exercises with my daughter when she was panicked. It was beautiful to see and warmed my momma heart. One issue I did have, which is why I removed a star, is there don't seem to be any systems in place for victims of abuse. This is very concerning especially when children might be accompanied by an abuser and they are unable to advocate for themselves with the person in the room. Other than that I recommend this place.

Dr. Han was very thorough and clearly very knowledgeable about the USCIS medical exam process. She took the time to explain everything in detail, answered all my questions, and made sure everything was done correctly. Since the immigration medical exam can feel a little overwhelming, I really appreciated how careful and detail-oriented she was. It gave me a lot of peace of mind. She was also incredibly kind and friendly throughout the entire visit. I was especially surprised by how painless the vaccines were--I honestly barely felt them! If you or your kids are nervous about getting shots, I would definitely recommend her. I would also highly recommend Dr. Han to anyone who needs a USCIS health examination. She is knowledgeable, thorough, patient, and genuinely caring. I'm very glad I chose her for my exam.

He really takes his time with each of his patients and you can tell he genuinely cares about each and every family he sees. We opted into the concierge program and it is the best decision we have ever made. The ability to text Dr Kar when we have a medical concern after hours or on weekends is invaluable. It is worth every penny and has come in handy countless times. Our son had a life threatening illness in 2024 that multiple specialists overlooked, and Dr Kar is the only reason he was able to get admitted and into surgery. He was a critical voice for us at CHOC when we needed an advocate to push for treatment, coordinate care among specialists, and get prescriptions and home health services figured out. I genuinely do not know what would have happened had we not had Dr Kar on our side. No one ever wants to be in a situation where their child has a life threatening medical condition but if you find yourself there like we did, Dr Kar will be in your court 100%.

Love the NP at this office. She showed genuine interest and elaborated on my questions to a first…read moretime mom. Regarding the doctor, first few initial visits were great then somehow it went downhill.. demeanor and vibe changed. I went back a few more visits to see if it was just an off day? I can tell this pediatrics (minus the NP) is not thorough with their care, rushes appointments and seems extremely transactional. the last few visit began the same way.. the doctor comes in, first thing he says is "Hi, any concerns?" nothing felt personable about the visit. At my last appointment, the same thing happened, dr comes in and first thing he asks "what are your concerns..." there was no how are you? How is your son doing? Doesn't even acknowledge my baby. I addressed 6 concerns (I think or more) and he only commented on 3. As a new mom, if you're asking about my concerns and I mention 6 concerns, please address ALL SIX even if the answer is "this is normal," but he chose to pick the 3 out of the 6 and gave me the most generic quick responses and then the appointment quickly ended. I was waiting for an answer about the continuous redness down in his mid area but it wasn't addressed until I spoke up AFTER he tried to end the appointment lol. To add to this, the nurse doing the vaccines comes in with my next appointment slip, she doesn't say a single word about my next appointment and places the slip on the exam table and proceeds with the vaccines. Like what? am I supposed to assume that slip is for me?? Simple customer service response could be, "here is a reminder for your next appointment." WILD. Once the appointment ended, I shared my feedback to the checkin nurse and left the slip on the exam table because I knew I wasn't coming back.. As for any business, at least show your patients some level of customer service or maybe interpersonal skills esp if its your business lol. Fake it if you have to. I switched peds and its been night and day and I can tell the new ped is much more careful and thorough during our visits. Business is business I guess.

We got a phone call from the front desk confirming the nature of the appointment, but when we showed up they said we needed to wait another week to give her the second dose. What was the point of the phone call to confirm the appointment if she wasnt going to be able to receive the medication? Then they billed me for the appointment! I took my daughter back the following week and they had us waiting for 40 minutes past our appointment time. My daughter was 8 months at the time. They had multiple patients be seen before my daughter that checked in after us. I had to ask to be seen for them to take my daughter back for her shot. Fast forward to her 1 yr check up we arrived 2 mins past the 15 minute grace period and the office admin turned us away. I explained to her that one of their elevators was broken so we waited for the next available one, but she was so rude and told us that she just couldn't fit us in anymore. She seemed to enjoy turning us away and didn't have any warmth.

She is extremely knowledgeable, patient, caring, and friendly. In addition, as there were some unforeseen situations requiring engagement with Dr Curitore, we consulted with her multiple times via the St Joseph app and she is so thorough with her explanation every single time and we appreciate her responsiveness! My family has had the most incredible experiences with OCEAN PEDIATRICS…read more Our forever doctor is Dr. Steven Abelowitz, and we love him. My daughter is always excited to see doctor Steve, for both well visits and sick visits. She says, "doctor steve will make everything better. I want to go see doctor Steve, and only doctor Steve." He is patient, kind, thorough, communicative and very knowledgeable. We feel so confident in his care and are so grateful for how he has gone above and beyond for our family. He has been there for my daughter since birth, and has helped us navigate through major health issues. You never know how great your doctor is until you have an emergency, and we feel blessed to have had our daughter, Allison, under the care of Dr Abelowitz during those difficult times. He has always made sure my child has received the best care, also referring us to excellent specialists when necessary. He has followed up with the referrals and made sure that everyone treating my kid is on the same page. I cannot recommend this office enough. I know my daughter has always received the best care with doctor Abelowitz. In addition to everything stated above, The practice is very organized and I have been very impressed with the ability to make same day appointments and are generally able to see our favourite doctor, Dr. Steven Abelowitz. This review is longer than most as I want to repeat : he is with OCEAN PEDIATRICS. If you're curious as to WHY he is not at Coastal kids (they're to blame for the negative reviews, in my opinion) kindly read this article: https://www.latimes.com/socal/daily-pilot/news/story/2024-08-02/newport-beach-pediatrician-sues-hedge-fund-he-partnered-with-alleges-managers-put-profits-before-patients Don't believe the negative reviews as coastal kids and those running it are the ones who are at fault (this is my opinion, and my opinion alone). The hedge fund currently running coastal kids (Steve's old practice), are putting profits over patients. They forced him out for putting PATIENTS FIRST. This hedge fund in particular seems to NOT care about your child at all, and only focus on the big P: PROFITS. This is why non-professionals (like the entity running coastal kids) should *never* be allowed to partner with professionals. It compromises professional integrity and puts profits over people. Attorneys and doctors are prohibited from partnering with non-attorneys and non-doctors for exactly this reason. Maybe some hedge funds have gotten around it by having doctors as partners. New legislation needs to be passed, prohibiting any organization with a single non-professional partner from this kind of activity. I have been WAITING for Steve to open up a new practice, and am so happy OCEAN PEDIATRICS is OPEN & accepting new patients. My daughter was one of the first- I got her in their system on the day they opened as I completely trust Steve and his amazing staff. That said, If you're want your child to receive the BEST care, call OCEAN PEDIATRICS and make an appointment with doctor Steve Abelowitz.
