I had seven sessions with Lauren, 3 in the pool and 4 on land. They…read moreweren't always easy, but i understood why I was doing them. Lauren was great, she listened, asked questions and overall was excellent. I would recommend Smith and Lauren to anyone. We also had a little fun in between. Thanks Lauren!!

I have been in therapy off and on for over 30 years. I have had therapy thru Rush and NorthWestern…read more I choose Smith Therapy for the Aqua therapy and was somewhat satisfied with the therapy I was given. though I did feel it was a slower pace. I do have chronic problems and therefore I would do the recommended exercises at home, but I still wasn't improving enough for them to continue the aqua therapy and wanted to do floor therapy instead. Problem with this was there are bettwer equiped facilities than theirs. They wanted a credit/debit card to charge if I missed therapy and while it was not my intent to ever cancel it was bound to happen due to my various illnesses as well as, my not being able to move due to hip that needs surgery. I am not entirely surprised that they charged me for the missed session, what was surprising they just took $185 out of my bank account without any notice. Had they told me they were charging me I might have been able to make satisfactory arrangments with them, but I was not given that oppurtunity. I am on a fixed income. I pay my bills and on time, thus my decent credit rating. Taking the money without advising me that they were doing it was unnecessary and given my time working with them a betrayal of trust, and no trust in physical therapy, no progress. I do not recommend Smith Physical Therapy. I was disappointed with the progress I did not make with them and while I may bear some responsibility and also falls to therapists to find ways to help me progress. Finally there are much better therapy centers for floor work. Smith is illequipped. You will be better off at Rush in Lkae in the Hills, or Northwestern in Huntley. UPDATED RESPONSE 11.17 I received a call from Smith at 8 a.m. to discuss my complaint. It was explained to me that I had initialed a section of the paperwork allowing for the use of the debit card for balance without warning or statement. This was not pointed out to me, I do not remember seeing it, but then again I wouldn't see it as I am legally blind. I did discuss the possibility of this with my caretaker and while she was with me it was not pointed out and certainly not discussed with staff. The person I talked to this a.m. said the billing was for my portion of the Medicare 20% balance and NOT FROM MISSED SESSIONS. If I missed a session it was because of my uncontrollable bowls due to chronic colitus...I should have come anyway? You don't get much notice from this disease and I think the warm water in the pool would have made it worse..don't you think. In the meantime which is it sissed sessions (Denise's claim) or the 20% Medicare portion (as discussed this a.m.) Again the staff membr from this morning did say she had the authroity to refund the amount Smith deducted and bill me to plan my payment. I doubted if she had that authority, she claimed she did. After reading Denise's comment it does not appear she had the authority despite committing to the refund, like I said, until I could make better payment arrangements. Meanwhile since, you can not agree what you have taken money from my account for I suggest you let me know before you decide on billing me. Finally I will not request forwarding of my progress reports to Rush or NW Huntley. Lauren already suggested your agency was more ethicqal than these fine institutions. Rush No. 1 in the country for orthopedic care. The biggest pull for your spot is the pool and when your therapist decided I did not make the necessary progress to continue in the pool, I choose to fire you. In turn YOU JUST TOOK MONEY FROM MY ACCOUNT WITHOUT WARNING. Oh, and I assume who I talked to this a.m. does not have the authority to rectify my issue. BE CAREFUL FOLKS ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE VISION ISSUES, DO NOT EXPECT AN EXPLANATION OF WHAT YOU SIGN.
