He said yes just the one north of here which he pointed out and was basically right next to the rental place. So we figured we won't go that way so we don't have to deal with it. We get to the bridge under highway 18 and going slow because it's no wake and realized too late that we couldn't make it but unfortunately a boat has no breaks and it broke the top. Now why would he specifically say not to go under this one bridge, but not mention the other one that we would almost definitely be going under? I'm thinking they wanted to replace it and this is some kind of scam because when we got onto the boat, the canvas for the Bimini top was already pretty ripped up which we thankfully have photos of from when we got on. They had to call their manager who said we're basically liable for the whole thing, even though the kid clearly gave us wrong information and blamed it on a "miscommunication". Yeah it's a bit more than a miscommunication when it cost us $2,500. Which is what they charged our card. I've talked to friends who work on boats and they said that that price for the part that holds up the bimini top is extremely overpriced. There was also a worker there who the manager tried to silence but heard what happened and told us he could fix it for closer to $500. Needless to say, they are absolutely just trying to make extra money off my family and it's a pretty bad business practice. For a situation where their employee gave us wrong information, it should be a learning experience for them. They also tried to say "well there's a sticker that says lower it under bridges". Well, the sticker was not pointed out and I feel like an employee specifically saying one bridge negates that. We will be requesting an itemized damage bill.
