Located in Gunbarrel in Boulder nestled between Niwot and Boulder this custom and production builder makes some the best bikes in the industry. Legendary for their work with Titanium you still see many Dean road and mountain bikes slogging miles twenty years after they were originally built (unlike the issues Lynskey seems to be having with so many cracking frames/tubes/stays recently). I've never owned a Moots but a friend shared a horror stories of people that ordered a custom Moots only to receive a bike that wasn't what was ordered custom. I've never once heard of such a such an issue with Dean. Plus DEAN is LOCAL (unlike Steamboat/Moots). I think we are very spoiled to have such amazing local frame builders in the area with Dean, Paketa, Nobillette, Zinn etc. Anyone interested in a custom touring, randonneur, 29er, 650b, or road bike should consider a Dean at the top of their "grail" bike list. They also make gorgeous custom Ti stems and seat posts, though I don't have either of those on my bikes. I'd strongly encourage local cyclists to ride a local craftsman fabricated Dean before considering a Taiwanese made "Italian" bike.

I had looked a bikes for a few months, but nothing really grabbed me, my new Jamis changed that. The fit specialist, Noel, was awesome and knew fairly instantly the kind of bike and size for my needs. I'm short, and plan to commute and do rides of less than 50 miles, so I wanted something fairly sturdy, but also zippy and light. She recommended a Jamis satellite which has a steel frame and reasonable hardware for a bike under $1000. The best part of the bike is how fast and maneuverable it is. Plus, thought it has a shorter frame (5'3") it doesn't have smaller wheels meaning I don't sacrifice efficiency. Basically, once I got on the bike I loved it and knew I had to have it. Noel was super helpful about accessories and helped me pick them out of the catalog. Since I needed to special order it, I paid half down and half on pick up. Yea excited! Great shop.

It was not an easy job, and I gave them a short window of time for the job, but they got it done early! They were super nice, understanding of my situation, and did not make it a big deal when I gave them the time restrictions. My bike rides perfect now, and there is no play or movement in the suspension.

I emailed Zach through his site and less than 10 minutes later I had him scheduled to come to my house later that day. He serviced my precious yet small quiver of bikes: MTB, Road, and commuter. It wasn't major work, but he gave them all a nice run through and now, they're all running great! He serviced all three in about an 1.5 if I recall. However long it took, it was exponentially less time it would have taken me with so much better results. Zach's price was very reasonable and to me well worth it to have good running machines. I equate to an oil change. So overall, Zach is good to for me for tune ups. Quick reliable service, punctual, and easy! As mentioned, this was fairly minor work, but I would have confidence with anything major. You might want to ask about parts first since he's a one man shop in a van and dog.

The rear brake was not working and they could not figure out how to fix it and left her with a dangerous bike and still charged her. I later took the bike to a shop and they fixed it easily. They also could not figure out how to put on a bike rack and said it was impossible with the fender. The other bike shop put it on easily. I feel like these guys took advantage of my young daughter as she paid way too much for nothing. Very disappointed. Update: I double checked my credit card and I have a receipt for "Domestique Mbs $145.00...."
