This is the last time I will go through the doors of this place. I have visited Solvang many times and each time I do as most tourist do and walk into all the cute stores and this store is no exception. I enjoy looking at music boxes cooko clocks. This is the second time I remember feeling this way do I will never go back into this store. I walked in with my boyfriend, we were the only ones in the store besides the sales lady, who by the way was not wearing a face mask. As my boyfriend (who is cacasion) walked ahead of me I stopped to look at a music box. As i continued to browse the sales woman got up from her chair and started following me, stopping when I would stop and start again when I would. She was watching me and I felt she thought I was going to steal something. REALLY. are you kidding me, why?? Is it because I'm Hispanic. I'm not a teenager I'm a 50 something year old Hispanic that has never ever stolen anything from anywhere!! Yet she never once followed my boyfriend. My boyfriend noticed that she was watching and following me also we left! I will never browse that store again, and to the owners of that store, with COVID and all the world's issues today educate yourselves and your employees on CUSTOMER SERVICE and FACE MASKS!! Buyer beware! When you purchase a ring here, you'll be given a "Lifetime Guarantee" paper which claims that the ring is guaranteed to be repaired or replaced should it ever break, but this guarantee is not worth the paper on which it is printed! The employees of this store will give you every excuse in the book why the guarantee doesn't apply in your case, but only AFTER the fact once you try to get a ring repaired. But while you're in the store spending money, mum's the word! Despicable, deplorable, shady way of doing business. Do not spend your money here. During the wife and I's little day-trip to Solvang we decided to drop by here. We stop in every time we're in town and our experience is pretty much the same...a mixed bag. And here's why. I have to admit, the collection of various kinds of collectibles and "pretties" they have in here is *impressive*. Everything from Cuckoo Clocks to Disney Figures to fine semi-precious jewelry to Precious Moments to Steins to Wizards and Faeries and pretty much anything in between. Their selection is wonderful. As others have commented - they are a bit pricey; but if you have the money to spend for quality - this would be the place to go. This shop will always and forever only get three Yelp stars from me for a very important reason. How do I put this? Well - there's only one way: The sales people stalk you!!! We have been there a good five times or so in the past 2 years; and no matter who we came with...Me..my wife.. my mother... my mother's friend.. my (adult) stepson...the result was the same. When you go in, you are greeted in a friendly enough fashion - but then the sales people follow you around... they linger...they HAUNT you! Almost immediately you're asked if there's anything you'd like to see. Really??! I just walked in!! And when you wander from this part of the store to that, there they are - lingering close. Its made me and those with me feel very uncomfortable shopping there. And sure enough, this happened the other day on our day trip. There is a difference between friendly customer service and stalking. I also understand that the items in here can be very expensive and they perhaps wish to discourage shoplifting, but this is ridiculous! Even though we've bought a couple items from here now and then, including a lovely ring my wife picked out this last time, we'd feel a lot more comfortable if we could take our time and browse in a no-pressure, at our own pace method. The wife herself commented to me that the next time we go into the shop that if it happens again she's going to turn around and ask whichever employee is haunting near her to back off; and question her on if they all work on commission! I'd recommend this place pretty much only for the selection. Feel free to come in and browse, shop and drool over this and that - but be warned!! I've been coming here for over 8 to 9 year's, Pebble People always have the latest and greatest items for fun and beautiful decor for your home or office, the people that own and run the store are extremely polite and informative on all purchases, they explain to the customer about what they are buying, whom either bulit it, painted or crafted your possible new purchase. Employees are well versed in all items that they carry, products are well made, I've purchased art ( Paintings ) Clock's, Christmas and Halloween decorations from them, and they all have held up over the year's. I would highly recommend the place, there is nothing like going into a brick and motor place instead of buying online, might be a few dollars cheaper, I would rather help out and support small businesses and community, these type of stores are what community is built on. This is one of those old world shops with all the cuckoo clocks on the wall and Hummel figurines spread everywhere. They carry a moderate collection of those "stone resin" Disney figures by Jim Shore, made to look like they are wood carvings. Then there's all these polished rocks with painted-on eyes for which their business is named. They're the sort of kitschy thing you see at craft fairs that appeases the older ladies with a sense of whimsy. Believe me, I know. My mom, bless 'er heart, has loaded her guest bathroom to capacity with googly-eyed seashell turtles and clams in tiny, plastic top hats. And then you stumble on their collection of ceramic fantasy figures, among which are eroticized steampunk, goth, and bondage fairies. This lady, whom I think worked there, came by while we were looking to say, with Huell Howser-like enthusiasm, "Aren't.. they.. WONDERFUL?!" They have a coin-operated Reginaphone at the front of the store that plays "Edelweiss," and those are fun. read more

I absolutely love this store. I will admit that the first time I went I felt really akward being followed around, and every time I was looking at jewelry someone would open up the glass quickly, and it made me feel bad that I was just quickly glancing over that area and even though nothing interested me from there I can to stay a few seconds looking just to be courteous. But then I realized that they were not doing that because they thought I was going to steal something. They're just really nice people, eager to answer your questions and/or give you advice (they give really good advice if you're looking for a gift for someone!). The second time I went, I realized that, and I just made myself relax about it and not feel pressured. I pretended like I was just at those fancy up-scale jewelry stores where someone is with you to hold your jewelry and get you what you need lol. I gave them what they wanted, to feel useful to the customers. The first time going, I didn't know how good the quality of the jewelry was, so I just picked out a $35 ring for my boyfriend to buy me. It's been about 6-7 months. I NEVER take this ring off; I sleep with it, I showed with it, I wash my hands with it, and it's just like NEW! It has not discolored, or faded, or stained my finger. It still sparkles (a lot of affordable rings get dull over time, but this one hasn't so far). I was VERY pleased with the quality. This is what made me go back again, that aside from everything being very beautiful, it is also of good quality, and I think it's reasonably priced. They also have many other things besides jewelry, but I haven't really paid attention to the other times, I just noticed there's a lot of cuckoo clocks! Also, if you or someone you know loves Disney, they have really neat Disney collectibles. I can imagine getting one of the Disney princess collectible to a little girl (or any girl for that matter, because they're so cute!), they're really pretty. The other I went in looking for some jewelry for my mother (Mother's day is almost here!). She has never been to this jewelry store which made it even better for me so I wouldn't get her something she already has! (I drove 1hr just to come here). Since one of the lovely ladies was following me, I let her know I was looking for jewelry for my mother, and showed her a ring that belongs to my mom as an example of what she likes. She was very nice and made several recommendations, but I was still really unsure about what to get her. I would pick out something I really liked for her, and had the lady hold it for me while I kept looking, and so on. Until I had a few pieces and set them on the counter to compare and decide which ones I wanted to purchase. I think I was in there for almost an hour, if not a whole hour! My boyfriend was also with me, good thing both him and the lady were patient with me. I ended up buying a GORGEOUS necklace and matching bracelet, that both matched a ring she currently owns. This store is just bizarre. Pebble statues with eyes painted on, creepy clocks with moving eyes, and fantasy-esque dragon/fairy figurine-collectible type things. I don't think I'm the type of person for this store, as I am not friends with anybody who would want to collect these type of things. There's a lot of jewelry too, but I'm too suspicious of tourist trap stores to be sure that it's real turquoise, silver, or the various other materials to buy anything. The part of this store that brings the rating down to 2 starts is that the employees follow you around like you have a tattoo on your forehead that says "I steal things." I didn't have a giant empty backpack, I'm not a teenager with nothing better to do, and I don't look like a hooligan. Please leave me alone! This place is wonderful!!!!! My husband and I visit Solvang for a few hours each year on our way up to Big Sur. They have so many cute little Knick-Knacks. This place is packed to the gills with stuff,,,so you need a little bit of time to get through it. I got a cute NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS Limited Edition figurine. I will say this: The place is big,,,and filled with thousands and thousands of tiny items. Because of this, the staff sticks VERY CLOSE to the customers. Im sure they have had to deal with many shoplifters in the past. They engage in conversation with you, and will help you find the perfect item. This was quite an unexpected shop. Doesn't look much from the outside but once you walk in, you see all the amazing cuckoo clocks on the inside wall. All amazing & beautifully hand crafted. Each one is amazing to look at. The girl behind the counter was nice enough to turn each one on that we wanted to see the animation. Although we didn't walk away with a $300 cuckoo clock it was just beautiful & nice to see these pieces of artwork work. The rest of the shop is filled with lots of different things. From Disney, to Jim Shore, to dragons, to precious memories, to... just about everything. I absolutely adore small shops like Pebble People when I'm on vacation. Not only does it add to the obvious thrill of tourism, but it's so much fun to look around. Items for sale include licensed products as well as unique items such as the coo-coo clocks & vintage steins. I was also not "stalked" or "followed" throughout the store. My boyfriend and I spent a good 30 -45 minutes walking around the shop and not once were we "harassed" by a member of the staff. My boyfriend and I also enjoy healthy conversation over paranoid suspicion, so we spent a lot of time conversing with the staff. Perception is everything. read more

I took the family on a road trip up the coast and landed in Solvang, this seems like just an average souvenir shop from the outside but it is so much more once you walk in... I was extremely skeptical once I got to the second aisle because I had a young boy that loved touching and trying everything out that he sees, I was relieved when he found himself a cool little handmade piece and stayed entertained for about 30+ minutes while we shopped and an elder gentlemen spent some time with me at the counter being more than helpful. He directed me to some local hotspots (not nightlife!) some hidden restaurants that are well worth it, and even discussed some cuckoo clocks and their origin for some time. My husband and I bought a Cuckoo clock from Pebble People. We ran into some minor issues getting the clock in full working order but Michael was a lifesaver! He was available to help us through the process and made the time to give us absolutely grade A service. This was our first trip to Solvang but I guarantee if we have any needs they can possibly fill, I am more than happy to check with them first. I normally only write reviews when I get stellar service, but this time I must share the awful experience that I witnessed here. My mother-in-law purchased a beautiful snow globe here on 12/22/16. The sales lady showed us the beautiful lights by turning on the switch on the bottom. After the purchase, she goes to box up the snow globe and starts taking out the batteries out of the snow globe. I can't believe this. I asked if we can keep the batteries so that we don't have to make another trip to go buy batteries and the answer was no. Unbelievable. It's not like these are expensive batteries. They were Kirkland brand from Costco. I just think it's poor business practice to show us the beautiful lighted snow globe, then take out the batteries when we actually make the purchase. Perhaps consider adding a sign on the display "batteries not included" or let the buyer know before we pay for it. For this reason I will not be coming back to this store next time I'm in Solvang and I suggest that other buyers make sure that they include the batteries before making your purchase. read more

Best part is that all of their clocks and steins are handmade in Germany, and look identical to what you can buy there (I traveled to Germany last year). Yes, they are pricey but are so worth it! The staff was also very friendly, hospitable, and knowledgeable. They made us feel comfortable and kept us interested. Pebble People is an interesting place for both collectors and window shoppers (like myself). If I had the money, I could have bought everything! do you like ye olde tyme clocks? do you enjoy drinking out of steins? would your life be complete if you had an olde tyme clock that alerted you when it was time to fill your stein with delicious ale? well this is the place to visit to get you set up for that. the store has an incredible, and when i say incredible, i mean in the most fantastic way, selection of clocks including handcrafted german cuckoo, mantle, and novelty alarm. you can spend an hour looking at clocks and still feel undecided on which type is your favorite. the same goes for their stein collection which carries many hard to find and very much collectible selection. not a big fan of clocks and stein though? no worries, they also have a wide variety of jewelry, toys, nutcrackers, figurines, masks, and music boxes small or large, 18 note to 72 note, hand inlaid and swiss movements. some of the selection IS a bit too kitschy for my taste and they could probably do without it but i can only assume that they're pandering to the traveling folks that are not from the u.s. either way, the place is great and the staff is very friendly and way knowledgeable. the prices are a little on the high side but then again everything in solvang seems to be. read more

Diane and her staff were SO patient, helpful and amazing! My mom and I spent several hours picking out the perfect cuckoo clock for our family. We tested almost every clock in the store and she continued to help us with a smile! We don't know how we lived without our cuckoo clock, it's a family favorite! I was touring Solvang recently, and stopped into this shop. This older woman with short white hair proceeded to follow me around the entire store and only me. She made me feel as though I was stealing something. I couldn't even stay in the store because of how obvious she was about it.
