I was really struggling in my pre-calc class earlier this year, and went to Tina for help. Not only did she show me useful tricks and techniques to approach problems, but she explained broader concepts that have helped understand math, instead of simply going through the motions. She also tutored me for the SAT, and my score was 380 better than my initial PSAT. She helped me relive my stress around the test, and tackle problems with confidence. I am so happy with the support I got from Tina she last year-she was a life saver. I would 100% reccomend her services!!

They are both very different kids with different learning styles. Tina really took the time to know them individually, to pace instruction with their needs and personalities. Even if they're tired or grumbling on the way to tutoring, they usually emerge energized and excited. They especially loved the math tricks and shortcuts Tina taught them. It makes them feel like they have a secret tool or a super power. Tina is patient, gifted and flexible, a real pleasure to work with.

I have been thrilled with the assistance and teaching my son received from Scott - precise, persistent, insightful. My son enjoyed and loved learning from Scott. A little bit of humor and cheerful attitude helped too. My son achieved ACT score he hoped for and eventually enrolled in a college of his choice. My niece worked with Matt to improve her LSAT score - she achieved significantly higher score in a short time!!! She acknowledges that Matt's help was decisive in her better LSAT score. I am so very happy to have worked with Scott and his wonderful colleagues at North Avenue and I truly admire their expertise and the place they have created - it gives confidence and trust! Thank you North Avenue Eduction!!!

Scott was able to work with my schedule and helped me a great deal with my GRE's (I met him as he was my GRE prep instructor through Sherwood Learning) in both math and writing sections. After I took my GRE's and did far better than I would have without the prep course, I wanted to take my application process seriously and not be rejected like some of my friends, and especially in this competitive higher education rat race, so I hired Scott to help me with my admissions essays. I got it to my first school of choice , first time applying and I'm really pleased with my experience with Scott. He gives constructive criticism, is very articulate and kind, strength-based, and he had me when he quoted 'Zoolander'. I can safely say I couldn't do it without him.

Abby relates very well to young adults, my daughter said she covered a lot of information, explained it very well and kept the pace right at what she could integrate (given our short timeframe.) Before Brian, everyone we met with was rigid, teaching to the test and frankly, off-putting. In our first meeting with Brian, we were immediately put at ease. His education/background matched with his experience and understanding of teenagers gave us so much confidence. His philosophy is simple, "If we work together, your student will do better on the SAT but, more importantly, he'll be a more confident, successful student. He'll be ready for college." This, I realized, was really what I wanted and it's happening! My son and Brian have had sessions twice a week for about 2 months and the change is so significant. I cannot recommend him enough! I've watched my child become more confident in his abilities, maintain fantastic grades and we all feel so much better about him heading to college next year.

Don't trust this man. He said he went to Caltech and MIT and taught, as a professor, at CalTech…read more There is no record of him online of doing any of those things. I should've known when he said "I'm super cool, I'm super chill, I'm super cool, super laid back". Anyone who says that... isn't. He was manic and un-showered and smelled and was absolutely insane. It doesn't seem that hard to wash your hands before you go and teach someone. His hair looked like he dipped his head in oil and his hands had never been washed in his life. He told me to google something at one point and took my phone from me, within 2 mins of meeting him. He had to take a smoke break during our *2 hour, $165 session*. He does seem to understand math, I'll give him that, but he is not a good teacher. He did the work for me when I explicitly stated I want to do it and just have him help me when I need it. I wanted a challenge. He taught me nothing. I tried to learn. I thought I was just being a bad student at first and was judging too hard. No, he's just not legit. He went off and talked about other subjects of math that I'm NOT EVEN IN. Of course, he was reading a calculus book too. Completely cliché. He talked nonstop about his 22 year old student Izzy and how he was texting her. I'm not sure why he had to mention her so many times or her age. Who knows if she's even real. I had to redirect his attention so many times, he constantly cut me off when I'd ask if we could start on my homework... instead would talk about his lawyer friends in LA. So weird. His reviews are not real, by the way. Go on google. All 207+ 5 star reviews are made from fake accounts, with names like "Becky White" and "Robert smith" with a stock photo image, and the only review they've ever left is for this "tutor". Not a coincidence. Same with his Facebook reviews. Don't let him scam you. I was cheated out of $165 by a con artist.
