Okay, full disclosure. I was very nervous after reading all the bad reviews, but I tried to keep an open mind and not be judged mental in the beginning. I was expecting the worst, but I was shocked. Dr. Grimes did not rush throughout my appointment, and she asked a lot of questions, and she genuinely seemed like she cared. She did not push office based creams or anything to me. She actually told me about over the counter stuff to use. I know sometimes reviews can be biased and can help with making decisions, but sometimes you just have to try it for yourself just to see how your experience would be. read more

Would give negative stars if possible. If you are considering coming here for any form of dermatology help, take my advice and stay away. They had me waiting for over an hour after my appointment time, and eventually I had to leave without being seen. The wait staff informed me that I would wait no longer than 15 minutes after my appointment time, which quickly snowballed into 45 minutes, at which point after asking for an update, I was told I'd have to wait another 30 minutes. Take a look at the other reviews, waiting an hour past your appointment time is commonplace here, and in that case why even make one? She has also cancelled appointments a number of times the morning of, and clearly has no respect for her patients time or needs. They just want your money. I've never seen such a mismanaged and negligent office before and I highly discourage any future customers from visiting this establishment. I also have vitiligo, and If you are looking for vitiligo treatment, also stay AWAY. Her treatment facilities and equipment are old and not up to date at all, and you can 100% find better treatment elsewhere. Her light booths must be at least 10 years old, and especially with having to wait at minimum half an hour to an hour past your appointment time, this place really isn't worth anyones time or money. I have been here a handful of times because I heard she was a "specialist" and the excessive waiting has been a persistent issue. Just look at her reviews, her bedside manner is horrible. If you love spending an hour of your day past your appointment time in a waiting room to be seen by a confrontational and indifferent physician, by all means give them a ring because that's what you'll get. I was able to locate a different provider with much cleaner and updated facilities in 5 minutes. After having seen newer light box machines, I felt stupid for thinking what she had was even in the same atmosphere as "best in class". Will never be going back here again, facilities and equipment are dilapidated, and appointments are clearly meaningless to them. Take my advice, find a different provider that actually respects your time and needs. read more

Dr. Grimes's bedside manner is atrocious. She was rude and arrogant to me when I asked her a question about the product she was using on me. She thought I was questioning her ability, when in reality I was simply asking what product she was using on me, Her unprofessional attitude was a huge turn-off. Additionally, every single time I saw her, she was almost an hour late. She doesn't seem to care that her patients have to wait exorbitant amounts of time to see her, I'll never go back. read more

Her office took a lot of photos, sent me for blood work, did two biopsies. Told me to come back after around 12 days to remove stitches and review results. I made an appointment and drove 45min to their clinic for a follow up. At the appointment, the nurses weren't sure what my appointment was for. I showed them the stitches and telling them about the biopsy. They looked in my files and said the results weren't back yet. They could have called to let me know that. And then had to chase the office to give me an update on the results for over a month after which they were finally emailed to me. Dr. Grimes never followed up with me on the results even though the office told me she would. read more

Dr. Grimes, you have been around for years. Don't allow poor staff to decline your ratings. They do not return calls, which adds to a decline in revenue. I would have them monitored more closely or get rid of them. This is a huge problem. The customer service is horrible. Get rid of those people. You had better staff in Larchmont. It hasn't been the same. The guy at the front desk is cute, but he is like calling into a police station. A desk job is not his thing. read more

I've been going to Dr. Grimes for over 30 years. She has significantly helped me improve my vitiligo. She is incredibly knowledgeable and effective, but quite blunt (haha which I found hilarious) and will make you wait long. Will not accommodate patients schedule. I asked for a morning appointment and she refused. She never returned my phone call and I have spent hundreds of dollars at her office. Dr. Grimes is always late and pretanaturally dismissive. She gives the most haphazard, non-medical, generic advice for problems with hair and scalp. She does not ask enough questions to get a proper history, nor does she use the information provided to investigate. She will quickly recommend and sell you her products. Her billing practices are also highly unprofessional. I do not understand why anyone continues to come to her. She has a stronger reputation among better dermatologists that is baffling. I understand why they recommend her and why they make referrals, but they really should not. She is the worst dermatologist and clinician that I have ever had the displeasure of seeing. read more

Doesn't know how to cure hyperpigmentation so will just sell you bleaching cream that works until you stop using it. Dr. Grimes saw me for over two years and couldn't figure out my condition which was diagnosed by another doctor and treated in one visit. After seeing my new doctor, I use tacrolimus ointment for my pruritus and I have healed up in one month. I can't believe I suffered for two years with Dr. Grimes! I believe she means well but she doesn't know how to practice as a clinician. For example, her office doesn't respond to email, she is always late for her appointment making me wait for over 45 minutes each and every time and most importantly, she wasted two years of my life by failing to diagnose and act. read more

I waited for over an hour and a half to be seen by Dr Grimes for my first visit and my appointment was set for 9:30 am. How long did her other patients wait that day? I went to Dr Grimes because I have vitiligo that is spreading at a scary rate. Every appointment after that was short and a brush off- like I was intruding on her day. And the last time I saw her, she was SO RUDE to her staff that I lost respect for her. Huge major ego. read more

I've been going here for years. I'm a black woman and I've been working with some hair loss. The doctor is constantly on vacation, and when I asked to get my files released they won't give them to me. I spent a lot of money on tests and the doctor's personal brand. I will have to start all over again somewhere else. They barely answer the phone. They are rude and not helpful. read more

She is a great dermatologist. She was my dermatologist when I was in California. It was wonderful to have a dermatologist who really understood the challenges of dealing with hyperpigmentation (dark marks that remain after a blemish or injury) on Black skin. She got my skin looking fabulous! She also has her own skin care products which I still order even though I no longer live in Southern CA. I really did try to find comparable OTC products that are locally available, but seriously, hers worked the best on my skin. And she gives back to the community through scholarships and philanthropy! I am all about supporting people who support others! read more

Bedside manor sucks. She doesn't ask if you have any questions. She leaves the room and a nurse comes in with a prescription. You don't know what it's for nor can you ask any questions about what the dr prescribed because she has gone on to another patient and is not coming back. read more

Dr. Grimes and her staff are awesome. I really appreciate her personal touch, knowledge, and experience. At first, noticing that my skin was changing and color loss was spreading was a scary thing for me. I did not know what was happening to me and I wasn't receiving the medical support that I was looking for. Before going to Dr. Grimes, I went to my primary care doctor, a naturopathic physician, and 2 dermatologists. Their diagnosis of my skin was always vague and they ran no other tests to rule out other diseases. I was frustrated and scared. I finally came across Dr. Grimes and was thankful that of all places, it was here in Southern California. The office was booked a couple of months out for new patients, but I still scheduled an appointment. I was late to my first appointment. Traffic was way worse than I planned for. Tip: LA traffic is no joke. There is ALWAYS traffic. So if you're not from the area, give yourself a few hours extra to prepare for traffic. Despite my lateness, they were so gracious to me and thankfully they were able to still see me. Long story, short: Dr. Grimes was very thorough with my tests and asked me many questions about my family history and other symptoms. I was so happy that finally a doctor was listening to me and ruling out other possibilities. I've been a patient ever since. My treatment has been working for me and I'm thankfully getting better. If you have vitiligo, I highly suggest you see Dr. Grimes. She's been a blessing to me. read more

My dermatologist, Dr. Coffey passed away, and I have been looking for another Black dermatologist, so I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Grimes. I live in Orange County, and her office is in Beverly Hills, but I am willing to commute to have a Black dermatologist who understands Black skin. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to see the doctor because she canceled TWO appointments. Unlike Dr. Coffey, who accepted all insurances, including MediCal, Dr. Grimes didn't accept Anthem Blue Shield PPO, but I was willing to pay cash. There are very few Black dermatologists, and the few that are in the L.A./Orange County area don't take most insurances or CareCredit. Doctors like Dr. Coffey, who knew there were limited dermatologists that were familiar with Black skin and wanted to provide access to Black people from ALL socioeconomic backgrounds, ate a thing of the past. These doctors make it difficult for most of us to get quality skin care. We always hear "Support Black businesses," but it seems like they don't want us as patients or customers. read more

On December 28, 2021, Dr. Pearl Grimes performed an IPL (intense pulsed light) photo facial on my face. During the treatment, I could feel she was not treating my entire face. The treatment burned, so I knew exactly where she was placing the laser. The treatment took approximately 5 minutes, from start to finish. When she finished, she announced "You are done my dear. You will come back in one month." When I looked in the mirror, I already had lines of red skin on my forehead with big gaps in between. I had three red rectangles on the left side of my face, near my left ear. I also had two rectangles on my right cheek near my right ear. I was very worried what my face was going to look like when the scabbing peeled. A week and a half later, the scabs started to peel and I was left with white lines on my forehead that looked like I had fallen asleep in the sun with my hand over my face. The rectangles on my cheeks were very pronounced and were a lot lighter than the rest of my face. I went to Dr. Grimes office for a two week follow up on January 11, 2022. I asked her why she did not laser my entire face. She claimed she did. I told her the evidence was on my face - the lines and rectangles. I showed her photos I took of my face right after treatment and one week later. She said she did not want to overlap the laser and promised to fix my face and not charge me for it. She tried to tell me I had a reaction in the areas which were white. She asked me if I had peeled in the areas which were darker, I said no. She would not admit she did not laser my entire face. I decided not to go back to Dr. Grimes for a second treatment because I could not trust her. On January 27, 2022 I chose to see an aesthetician to fix the damage Dr. Grimes had done (who told me you have to overlap with a laser so you don't miss spots). She does not know how to operate a Cutera Limelight laser properly and should not have a license to do so (if you need one). If she continues to perform IPL's on patients, she will do irreparable damage to more people's faces. I chose not to go back to her for further treatment. She did send me a refund check and also paid me an additional $400 to "fix" my face. It was not worth having to stay out of the sun for two months and being embarrassed to go out in public. Longest two months of my life! While my face looks a lot better, I can still see the stripes on my forehead. read more

I waited over an hour to be seen by the Dr. Only to be told I would have to wait longer and they weren't sure just how much longer. I was told they were understaffed and needed to clean the rooms, which is why they were behind. The lady at the front desk couldn't seem to give me an estimate on timing and when I asked about rescheduling she offered me an appt 3 months away?!?! WHEN I WAITED THREE MONTHS AND OVER AN HOUR FOR THIS ONE!? The lady at the front desk didn't seem to care about my time even though I checked in after the first 35 mins and again every 15 mins after. The waiting room became packed and as patients came In and asked about the wait the lady at the front desk acted like the wait didn't exist. I spoke up and warned everyone that I had been there over an hour and only then did she start to try and manage the situation. After I reached my limit and had to go she mentioned the Dr. Was aware of the situation, was very sorry and would take a look at her calendar and get me back on the schedule ASAP. I never received a call and am never going back! Don't get me wrong, this is LA and good Drs typically have a bit of a longer wait time, however the patients time is respected and we are given notifications and updates so we can prepare accordingly- not expected to show up and waste hours waiting for a "room to get clean"! read more

I have been coming to dr. Grimes for over a year now. You do have to pay for parking, her services arent cheap, you do have to wait. However, when you go in to see her, she is thorough, she takes pictures of your problem area(s) and shares with you your progress. She doesn't rush, she answers all of my questions and once the visit is over, if i forgot to ask a question, she comes back. Dr Grimes is very personable, she isn't afraid to really look at and touch you. Ive been to several dermatologist and none have been as good as dr grimes. read more

This was a poor experience. I had a skin biopsy done here that I specifically asked if it would be covered by insurance abs was assured that it was. *spoiler : they never submitted a claim or checked. * After about two weeks and no communication from the office, I call to inquire about the results of my biopsy and I'm told the results are lost and/or there's no record of my biopsy *spoiler: my healing stitches remind that I did not in fact dream this up*. Billing calls me that same day to request for the 700 dollars for the biopsy that they can't locate and they didn't even know I'd had until called. I explain to the billing person how can you charge for a service that is apparently not been rendered according to your own front office. She was sympathetic and said "she would follow up," but would that be cash or charge. She continued to pester me for weeks for this money and no I never got my biopsy results nor did they ever even have a record of it ever occurring. I had my primary request for my medical records and still *crickets* Oh I also bought almost 300 dollars in skin products for what I was told would be helpful. Here I was thinking this was a place I'd finally make my dermatology home. *spoiler alert: that was not to be.* Very disappointing experience. I would never recommend this place. read more

A good friend of mine swears by Dr. Grimes for acne. Per her recommendation, I made an appointment with her a few years back for hair loss. Not only did I feel incredibly rushed during my appointment, but she basically wrote me a prescription for some medicated Neosporin and sent me on my way. After waiting more than a month for my appointment plus over an hour in the lobby just to be seen, she spent less than five minutes with me. I don't feel like I got an adequate evaluation for my concerns at all, even though her website does state she treats alopecia and hair loss. I never went back. Didn't see the value for what I was looking for. Perhaps her specialty really is acne and vitiligo but I wouldn't recommend going to see Dr. Grimes for hair/scalp issues. read more

Appointment was at 10:30AM and I was out at 12:41AM. Total time I spent with Dr. Grime, ~4-6 minutes. She won't ask a lot if you don't have some really unique issue. It's probably because she's been doing this for a long while, which means she probably knows what she's talking about with general skin issues. No validation for parking structure so it cost $24. Avoid an appointment on Tuesday before 11AM if you can because street parking is not possible due to street cleaning. read more

Dr. Grimes is a great doctor. I have been seeing her for Vitiligo. She truly cares for her patients. I live quite far from Dr. Grimes's office so I decided to get light treatment elsewhere near my home. I had the worst experience going to another dermatologist to get extract treatments. They charge by square cm. which means the larger the area the more they charge. They were applying the light all over my body in areas I didn't see vitiligo. They didn't even have a woods lamp to be able to see where my vitiligo was! I explained this to Dr. Grimes who understood how hard it was for me to come see her regularly and she suggested I purchase the light and apply these treatments myself. I felt like this was very unselfish of her to do. I am very thankful for Dr. Grimes. Instead of insisting I come to her office for light treatment she sent me to a place where I could buy a machine and apply it myself. There is no set cure for vitiligo, an immune disease, and we don't know what causes it. Dr. Grimes keeps herself informed of any new advances and in turn keeps us, her patients, informed on any new products known to get rid of Vitiligo. Dr. Grimes is very thorough, she even orders a blood panel to see if anything there may indicate what could be causing Vitiligo. read more

Dr. Grimes is a great doctor and her staff is equally talented however she is concerned more with running a business than she is offering care to her patients. She makes more money doing fillers and cosmetic things than actually dealing with her practice which is dermatology. Perfect example I had a visit and she forgot to give me the prescription we had spoken about when I called and asked for the prescription to be called into my local pharmacy I was told I have to schedule an appointment and come back and to see her! Seriously, how ridiculous does that sound? Well from her perspective it makes perfect sense because she gets to bill me all over again and get more money for my insurance. When I explained all she needs to do is call in the prescription to my pharmacy they refused and said that I need to come in and physically see her to get a piece of paper handed to me! I must add I've been a patient of Dr. Grimes on and off for six years and I can clearly say she's more interested in making money and building her practice than providing quality care to her patients. Think twice before you visit her, their hours are very peculiar especially if you're new patient. read more

I agree with a lot of the other negative reviews: Dr. Grimes is very knowledgeable and can be a great doctor, but her office staff is AWFUL. I had to stop going there because it was just ridiculous, her staff was incompetent and unresponsive. I had a mole that Dr. Grimes recommended to be removed, but she didn't want to do it herself because it was on my face - so she wanted to refer me to a specialist, which was fine. The problem was that neither she nor her staff could recommend someone that was in my insurance network (I have very common PPO insurance by the way). She left me in the hands of her office manager, and I had the worst experience. He kept promising to call me back, but never did. I had to keep calling him, I spent SO much time trying to get some help, but never got any results. It was incredibly frustrating. I finally gave up and stopped going there, and I found another doctor at UCLA that was able to help me. Why was that so hard for them to get me a simple reference?? Ugh. A note about Dr. Grimes...while I think she definitely knows what she's doing, she always seemed way too busy. Like she was running out the door to get to her next patient before I had a chance to ask her a question. I felt like I was inconveniencing her, which shouldn't be how your doctor makes you feel. Bottom line: Dr. Grimes may be one of the best, but look elsewhere unless you want a doctor that barely spends time with you and an office staff that doesn't make an effort to help you. read more

I had an appointment here a few years ago--and as a Yelper, I tend to be the sort that is motivated to leave positive reviews ... but it takes a really sore experience for me to even think about leaving a negative one. I had an appointment with Dr. Grimes a few years ago. One appointment. I never went back for reasons I'll explain in a moment. But the reason I am leaving this review is because a coworker of mine recently mentioned going to see Dr. Grimes, and what an awful experience it was. My reaction to her was, "OH MY GOSH ME TOO!" We were both disgusted when we compared stories and realized how similar they were. My experience was this: I have a lot of moles--a few of which concerned me. I also have keratosis pilaris on my arms, which bothers me. I was new to LA and in doing research found Dr. Grimes and read about how renowned her work is. She seemed like a smart bet. I made an appointment. When I arrived at my appointment time I was made to wait for a ridiculous amount of time. Another patient was panicking about potentially missing a flight because she'd been waiting so long. That should have told me something. Once I was taken back I spent about 5 minutes talking to the doctor's assistant ... who assured me Dr. Grimes would take a good look. When Dr. Grimes came in, she barely even acknowledged me. I was baffled when she kept directing questions/comments to her aid. I'm sitting right here! I had wanted someone to look at my body and see what moles I should be most concerned with ... and she barely spent a minute looking me over before dismissing me with a "Nothing to worry about." When I expressed concern over a few in particular (because I was alarmed that she had barely glanced at anything specific) she simply said, "If it bothers you, we can remove it." and then told her aid to "set up surgery for next week" and left. I've been to dermatologists before and it takes two seconds to remove a mole--she required me to COME BACK and have an official "procedure" ??? She then left the room. The aid began prescribing me medications for my keratosis pilaris--all of which I needed to buy there at the office for a ridiculous amount of money. Ok. Now I'm disgusted. I don't expect a doctor to spend an hour with me. I don't expect a doctor to be my best friend and all cheerful chatty Cathy. I simply expect to be humored at least a little--even if they have already presumed there is nothing to worry about. I don't think it's absurd to want someone to spend 10 minutes really looking at my skin (I have a lot of moles and freckles)--and to TALK to me about why I need not be concerned. I definitely don't expect to be treated indifferently. It was appalling to have her so cavalierly and disinterestedly tell her assistant to schedule a surgery when seconds before she said there was nothing to worry about. She made it clear she had zero interest in actually discussing the whys and reasons. It was like, "Hey lady, if you want to make a stink then I'll just cut it off you." I am the kind of person that tends to be too polite. I stupidly let them schedule a surgery and left totally baffled and frustrated. Over the next few days, though, I got angry. I canceled the procedure and made an appointment over at Cedars. Turns out, the dermatologists there are warm, considerate and WANT to discuss things with you. I had nothing to worry about, but was able to talk to someone who explained why and took their time in doing so. They also offered to remove the mole on the spot if I decided I preferred it gone. I didn't, because they made me feel secure about it. Bottom line ... she may be a brilliant doctor, but she obvious lacks in bedside manner. I will never return. read more

My review is solely for Dr. Grimes Pigmentation specialty. For years and years I have been self conscious about pigmentation and discoloration post high school acne. I have gone to roughly 30 dermatologists, various estheticians and spas and thousands of dollars later--no real difference. I came to Dr. Grimes once, and at this point i'm a huge skeptic so I doubted her through the entirety of my first appointment. Lets face it, no one likes waiting in a room for 45 minutes to be seen for 10 and made to buy all these different expensive products through the course of one appointment. Dr. Grimes makes her own products so its not covered by insurance, keep that in mind when going here.. you will be dropping a few hundred on her prescribed medications easily. Needless to say, I bought the products and within 6 weeks I saw HUGE improvements. I have gotten so many compliments on my skin and I can feel it looking less spotty and dark. My make up goes on smoother and I only have to use 1 shade as opposed to 2!! #firstworldproblems. I don't have acne other than a pimple here or there, so I can't really comment on her work with that. But she did prescribe me some good cleansing wipes that have kept me pretty clear. Note: I gave her 4 stars instead of 5 because Parking in the building will run you $25.00 for the entirety of your trip and they don't validate so try and park on the street. Wilshire is 1 hour max for $1.00. Also, the wait time was pretty extreme my first appointment. The second one I was in and out within the hour. read more

I was charged an exorbitant amount for a 5 minute consultation about a few facial moles and for a cheap bleach cream. Dr. Grimes came over an hour late to my appointment and treated rather rudely before she sent me off. Though I had asked to check about my payment (265 for the consultation), the staff had actually overcharged me during the visit and did not check! On the upside, the staff was very courteous and tried to be as helpful as possible. My request to the doctor is to consider how ethical it is to overcharge a patient when there is no real service rendered. read more

I am beyond saddened to write this review relating to a Doctor I so very much wanted to see. My vitiligo has worsened as a response to having my baby die in utero 8 weeks ago. This is my second consecutive loss and its wreaking havoc on my body. Knowing the vitiligo was only contributing to my emotional distress, as well as getting much much worse, I wanted to see someone about it as soon as possible and see what could be used safely while trying to conceive. My previous dermatological care has been in Australia, so this was the first time seeing someone in LA. I researched extensively and came up with Dr Grimes. I phoned, made an appointment for two months later (the earliest available), got put on a waiting list incase an appointment came up sooner, and as per instructions by office staff (Estela) I emailed my insurance card front and back so she could check if I would be covered and let me know. I emailed those details twice, and called 4 times leaving messages with a call service and received absolutely no response. No missed calls, no left messages, no response to the emails. 3.5 weeks later my husband has finally gotten on to someone called Sandy. Sandy asked for us to email the details (for the 3rd time), and we have just found out in her response email that despite paying over $300 a month in insurance for me we aren't covered because the insurance isn't a grandfathered plan or group plan through an employer! (I'm self employed so that's an impossibility.) I phoned Sandy and mentioned my distress at waiting nearly a month to find this information out despite telling them who my insurance was with on every interaction I had with the office. At no point has there been any acknowledgement that this is unacceptable. Sandy told me that the cost of an appointment would be $495 plus additional for any biopsies/additional testing. Sandy didn't know the reason for my appointment so I mentioned that not only am I flabbergasted it's taken 3.5 weeks to get that information, but I have been watching my vitiligo worsen due to the extreme stress my body has been under losing my baby second trimester. And at this point Sandy demonstrated the worst possible customer service skills anyone working in health care could have - she put me on hold. I wondered if perhaps she was seeing if there were any other options or a sliding scale etc, but no, she came back and said she had a few phone calls coming in and would call me back as she knew we were in the middle of the conversation. She called my husband's number back. She said it was because she didn't have my number. My husband pointed out I made the initial appointment - if she looked me up, she would indeed have my contact details. She said she had to hang up on me because she'd been waiting on hold with someone's insurance company for an hour. My husband pointed out we had been waiting for information from them for nearly a month. Sandy explained that we could potentially get back $20-$30 of the $495+ through insurance as they were an out of network provider. She pointed out the Doctor would be billing the insurance company the full cost of at least $9200. I'm not in any way sure why she felt compelled to share that information. My husband asked for the code for the initial appointment so we could contact our insurance company and get a clear idea of our out of pocket costs. In the past 6 months we have had over 30 medical appointments and have never had any trouble getting codes etc so we can be responsible and have a clear idea of expected costs. Sandy refused and said she wouldn't give it to us until we came in as a patient. She said she didn't know, she said she was finding the codes confusing, and after my husband insisting she gave us the initial appointment code (which is all we needed) she finally did. At one point she went away to get a rough estimate and then came back and said it was difficult and she couldn't. Our whole experience with Dr Grimes' office defies belief. I can't imagine why such a respected doctor has such substandard support staff. Dr Grimes' job is to treat her patients. Her office staff simply has to book appointments and respond to queries. 1) My phone calls weren't responded to at all other than my initial appointment request which is interesting! 2) My emails (which they requested) weren't responded at all. Sandy said they weren't forwarded to her by Estela. 3) Information to help us understand costs wasn't forthcoming. 4) Customer service was appalling and at no point apologetic. My husband and I are very reasonable calm people. Due to the devastating loss of our baby, we have dealt with so many specialists over the past 6 months. At no point have we had anything other than world class experiences - both from the doctor and the teams that support them. This experience pales in comparison. And just to make matters worse, I now need to find a new doctor and wait again for the appointment. read more

Although Dr. Grimes has many accolades I was very disappointed in the medical treatment I received. I think perhaps this medical practice is geared more towards cosmetic dermatology rather than more medically focused dermatology. I should have known as soon as I saw the many advertisements for botox, laser, oxygen, collagen etc. treatments being advertised (all things not covered by insurance). These are all great products, but none of them that would help my condition. Quick synopsis (you can read more below): 1. Misdiagnosis and had to keep coming back w/out any results. Lot of money wasted. 2. Long wait times. 3. Office is an administrative nightmare. No one has any clue what is happening. More detail: I went in for discoloration on my forehead and the doctor's assistant did most of the diagnosis. The doctor prescribed me a cream and asked me to come back in two weeks. I went back in two weeks with no results, and my new treatment was to keep using the cream and come back in two more weeks. This scenario repeated for about 3 months, until FINALLY I insisted on a biopsy. The biopsy came back negative so the doctor suggested I do oxygen treatment. Later I found out this is purely a cosmetic treatment and not a medical treatment. Nothing resolved, condition only slightly improved. I finally went to another dermatologist at a university medical center and she looked at my forehead, had a conversation with me about some other conditions and prescribed me a medication and said to come back in a month. Within the month my issue was resolved 100%. She even had a name for the condition! I went to Dr. Grimes for 6 months and my condition only mildly improved. I feel l wasted so much money and time and nothing was resolved. They just had me coming back to tell me the same thing over and over again. On another note, this office is a administrative nightmare. I had to call 10 times for them to transfer my files to my new doctor over a 1 month period. When I finally got to my new doctor they didn't have the files. Finally that doctor had to call the office to get my files which we could only review on my second appt. The whole experience with this doctor and office was frustrating. Especially because I thought I was going to a highly acclaimed dermatologist. read more

I have been seeing Doctor Grimes for the last 4 years. She is an exceptional professional in her field. I think that the office tries its best to be able to accept new patients and to satisfy current patients. The people working at the office are always busy which is a great thing! I had to wait for 3 month for my very first appointment with Dr Grimes. I realized that there are so many other dermatologists in LA but Dr Grimes is the very top one. So happy I brought my 3 year old daughter to see Dr. Grimes! Wonderful experience. My daughter has been suffering from a mouth rash for 6 weeks and her primary doctor had not been able to diagnose it or help much. I was recommended to Dr Grimes by another Doctor I work with, who said she was the best dermatologist. We were able to schedule an appointment very quickly, and we did not wait long to be seen. Dr. Grimes was so nice to my daughter and very thorough. Even though the rash is only on her face, Dr. Grimes had my daughter take off her shirt so she could check the overall condition of her skin. Something our primary never did. My daughter was prescribed some medications and we scheduled a follow up. I felt such relive knowing she was being treated by someone who is an expert in her field. Dr. Grimes was kind and patient and made my daughter feel comfortable and calm. I would definitely recommend Dr. Grimes to anyone. To the people complaining about her prices- I'm a single mom who works two jobs. Dr. Grimes was not in our network so I paid cash out of pocket.
