Even at the very beginning of season, the owner was very rude to both parents and athletes. She…read morewould expect them to practice/perform with injury. There were several injuries during the season, most happening during practice. Typesof injuries ranging from knee instability, broken foot, and severe whiplash. In the contract that she requires to be signed, she specifies that if an athlete is sick or hurt, a doctor note is required to be dismissed from practice. I had a Dr note for my daughter when she had a double ear infection and later found out strep. After talking to the owner, she still wanted my daughter observing the practice. The minute my daughter went into the gym and I was half way out the door I heard an athlete ask what was wrong with my daughter. Her response " oh ____ is dying". The owner is unprofessional. Between blaming athletes for her financial problems, not communicating with parents/athletes several times throughout season - one including going onto stage for awards, it was asking an hour before awards where athletes should meet to go up for awards. When it was finally communicated where to meet, the awards had started so they rushed to the stage. The athletes were barely on time to receive their award -SOOO EMBARRASSING and then right after this, the owner yelled at the athletes in front of other gyms AT competition. Couldn't wait to get back to the gym or pull them aside somewhere else, she chose to humiliate in front of everyone. I think she does know what beautiful tumbling, stunting and cheerleading in general looks like because my daughter does look better when she does the skills but because coaches were in short supply and classes were very large, my daughter didn't learn any new skills this year. She was able to do a back handspring on the trampoline and was extremely close to getting it on the floor when we came to empact. She hadnt gotten it yet because she was working through a mindblock. However,at a practice, the rest of the team was conditioning and she was told they wouldn't stop until she did it. They started raising voices and while this might work for some kids, it actually created a bigger mind block for my daughter and she is not able to physically force herself to do a back handspring. During tumbling class, the coaches didn't know how to teach the skill or spot so even trying to learn the skill in class was not effective. I think the owner would make a better owner/ business woman if she let the coaches do the coaching. Allowing them to make decisions so she can manage and be more organized. To figure policies out for events she wants to get to well before it's decided to go. This was a HUGE problem with parents and athletes when it was agreed we would compete in Florida. The owner kept saying "I've never gone to this. I'm figuring it out as you are." While I understand that,it was her that put it as a possibility for the team at the beginningof the season. If she wants to eventually have a team there, she should know at least basics. What is expected. Don't sell the trip to compete with a Vacay to disneyworld and then 2 weeks before we fly out tell the athletes they can't enter a park or even sit in a swimming pool to relax. Then to make it worse creating a schedule with 7 practices in 2 days- 5 of which were "time and place TBD". NOT COOL! That makes it difficult for even the adults to use their tickets. Those tickets aren't cheap. There weren't any bad reviews for empact when I was looking for a gym so I wanted to give the heads up to future possible parents/athletes so they know what they are getting into, A LOT of money paid for verbal and physical abuse. While I know pushing athletes is critical for improvement, the owner pushed too hard. Which is why injuries were abundant this year. There was a 2 hour scheduled practice. I showed up to pick my daughter up and at 5 min before it should have been over, a message came that practice would go longer. Well 45 min passed and I was just about to go see what was going on when my daughter got in the car. She was in a full panack attack. After she was calmed down, my daughter said they had 2 5-min water breaks and stunting the whole time. The owner kept yelling at my daughter that she was doing it wrong and to do it again. ..without telling/showing her what was wrong. Because the other base was injured,my daughter was lifting the flyer 80-90% by herself FOR 3 HOURS! That night, she needed help walking up 3 steps to get into the house. The owner is lucky more injuries didn't happen. My daughter who ate, slept, drank cheer told me "I hate cheer. I never want to do it again."
