I [heart] you, Northern RI PT!…read more Unfortunately, the hubby and I were in an car accident last October: thankfully he made it out a-ok, but poor 'lil 'ole me suffered a nasty back injury. In early November (of 2011), I woke up one gorgeous, crisp morning to the most excruciating, miserable and intense pain I have ever experienced in my life. Period. It turned out to be the beast called "Sciatica." And trust me folks, dental pain, broken bones, lacerated eyes have nothing on this. Of course at the time, I was waiting on insurance coverage from my (then new) employer and suffered with debilitating pain, living on pain killers and crawling from room to room until the end of December when the flare-up finally subsided. From then going forward through August, I would live with terrible pain each and every month. And while I was thankful it wasn't an actual flare-up (I could walk and sit albeit in gut wrenching pain), I couldn't last any longer with this miserable routine. After my insurance rejected the request for an MRI (really now...?) I was referred to Northern RI PT for physical therapy. And I'm so glad I made that first call. I absolutely love the staff here. From my first visit to my most recent (today!), everyone makes an effort to show compassion, care and really make their patients feel like part of a family. My PT, Lyndsay, is wonderful. From my day 1 consultation, she's ensured to track my progress every step of the way and really listened to my situation. For those who have thankfully never experienced Sciatica, it's an extremely painful experience that just doesn't seem to end which not only drains you physically, but mentally as well. While the entire process to recovery is slow, it really lifts my spirits to feel the pain alleviate week after week. Everyone from the other PT's that I've met (Amanda) to the aides (Beth and Heidi!) and the reception (Kathleen) are simply fabulous. Despite most likely needing to continue my therapy for a while longer, I couldn't feel happier it's with these ladies.
