After undergoing total knee replacement surgery, I was looking for someplace to receive outpatient physical therapy, following my in-home PT treatment. A friend of mine was receiving treatment at Peak Performance for her foot injury and said they helped her regain strength and flexibility. After calling to book an appointment, I verified that they would accept my insurance. I met with Todd W., who is a certified PT and co-owner. We discussed a treatment plan that I was in full agreement on. Neeva and Katie are the two other certified PT's. They also have PT Aides who assist with my treatment to include explaining the variety of exercises and how to properly use the equipment, along with administering ice and electric stimulation treatment. I like that the staff are constantly encouraging me with my treatment, but do so in a very professional and patient manner. They appear to be fully invested in my rehabilitation. Working with Todd, Neeva and Katie has been critical in my recovery. I like that they push me with my treatment. As the saying goes "no pain.......no gain" and I'm a true believer in it. The PT Aides are also knowledgeable and a great help. They also really care about my well being and are always eager to answer any questions I may have about a certain exercise or how to properly use a piece of equipment. The PT Aides who I've worked with are Ryan, Mariel, Darani, Megan and Arjun. I haven't worked with Tammy yet, since she must work the days and times I'm not there. Booking appointments is easy, since it's usually with Monique, who is the Front Desk Manager. She's very helpful and friendly and always accommodates my appointments with my schedule. I like that they have taken precautions around Covid-19. They ask anyone entering their gym area to use the hand sanitizer in the lobby. Also, most staff and many patients wear masks. I like that they wipe-down their equipment after it's used. They also have a place for me to place my belongings, while I'm receiving treatment. I would recommend Peak Performance to anyone looking to rehab from an injury.

Dr. Kim and her staff are kind, knowledgable, and understand how to guide patients through rehab in a way that heals the physical and mental aspects of recovery. I cracked the booklet open but didn't get very far before concluding it was hopeless. I was somewhat familiar with the practice as I'd used it years before. So, I decided to go out of pocket because I thought it was my only hope of really getting better. Upon entering ESPT, I found the care exceptional. I would have an entire session focused on pain management. You can't put that in a booklet! I did indeed improve. Not only did I go once, but I went back again after knee meniscus surgery. Again, the experience was exceptional, and I was almost sorry to graduate! The practice is also very well run. Cherise at the front desk keeps all the appointments in order, and the communication is excellent. I strongly endorse this practice.

When the…read moretherapist- who also serves as the clinic's manager- decided to "pause" my treatment because she felt I wasn't progressing, both doctors strongly disagreed and urged me to continue PT, especially as my symptoms worsened during that break. I expected a collaborative approach, but instead, the therapist often seemed exasperated when I couldn't complete exercises due to pain. The care I received was indifferent at best and unprofessional at worst. The therapist frequently appeared impatient, inattentive, and dismissive, often juggling multiple patients and offering little empathy or follow-through. Communication was inconsistent, delayed, and impersonal. I gave it months to see if things would improve, but these weren't isolated bad days. I did appreciate that she waived the late cancellation policy a couple of times due to my chronic illness, as I can't always predict symptom flares. In hindsight, the waiver didn't feel rooted in compassion so much as indifference. To be fair, other patients seemed to have great rapport with their therapists at this location. Perhaps this was simply a poor fit, but the fact that my therapist was also the clinic's manager was especially disheartening. For anyone seeking ongoing care for chronic pain, look elsewhere for compassion, empathy, and even the bare minimum of ethical, patient-centered care.

I worked with Phillip who got me through the painful process of rehab. With his therapeutic techniques and by diligently following the home stretching exercises he gave me, I got my arm's range of motion back. Soon after, I started on the strengthening part of the therapy. When I started, I could barely lift anything, but in a few weeks I went from only being able to lift a coffee cup to start using the free weights. Also, the pain level has dropped a lot and I can do all my normal activities without pain. The entire staff of therapists and assistants are top notch and experts in their field, and so are the facilities. Comfortable tables, lots of thera-band products and exercise machines are just a few of the amenities they have. Also, when my therapy was over, Phil gave me some recommended exercises to do so I can keep progressing on my own, and would be available if I have any future questions or concerns.

But I feel like he is not good at diagnosing issues, which is one of the most important, maybe the most important, differentiating skills between doctors of any kind. He can't tell what problems I have unless I tell him point blank, which is a problem because often the patient doesn't know what the root cause is. And he continues a treatment plan regardless of what problems I'm actually suffering. I have been to many chiropractors, including really good ones and also some bad ones. I haven't gotten better from seeing him 3 times and have actually been in even more pain. That should not happen. 2 stars. EDIT: I ended up finding a chiropractor skilled in Neuro Emotional Technique and I was surprised that she was able to address the root of my back issues, digestion, and waking up every night at 3 am.
