My internet service has been extremely slow, unable to load web pages let alone stream anything, every weekend since except one in July and they are continuing their run into August now. I can understand that weather can affect service but if they have an issue that every time it rains service is disrupted they need to find techs that can determine the problem and fix it. read more

We like to refer to this company as 19thCenturyLink. It is really bad and getting worse. Tech support is a joke; techie might show up, he might not. When one does show up he may or not know what he's doing. And at least one will spend 5 minutes fixing and 45 minutes yakking. Online chat is a nightmare and the chatterer will lie to you (assuming you can understand them since English is not their first language). Internet is marginally better than dial-up (when it's working at all). Landline phone service? Well, if it goes out prepare to wait for weeks and weeks for someone to condescend to come out to try to fix it. Beware: This company advertises fast internet speeds, but in reality rarely provides those speeds. Like every ISP, the advertised speeds are up to that speed. You shouldn't expect to get the top speed all of the time, but you can expect an average speed about 70% of the advertised speed most of the time. That's how a regular ISP works. I am receiving speeds at 50% or lower of the advertised package speed 100% of the time. Peak has a guaranteed minimum which is nice, but they seem to think the guaranteed minimum is the speed that you should average at. One thing to keep in mind with wireless internet is your speeds may fluctuate due to weather and interference. This is not the issue with the package I ordered, as I explain below. I order the 20Mbps plan. I ran speed tests and monitored the line for a full week after install, and these were the results: * Speeds to Peak Internet hosted servers: 90% to 100% of capacity. This is useful in determining that there is not an issue between the transmitter on my house and the tower. * Speeds to any other speed test server, CDN, website, regular download server: 50% or less of capacity. I tested to multiple types of servers at multiple locations across the USA. My average speed was 7Mbps. My max speed was 13Mbps. I never once went above 13. I have this well-documented, but they're not interested in looking at the documentation. When I contacted Peak Internet about this issue and provided them the documentation of the tests I had been running they refused to acknowledge the issue. They said I was getting above their guaranteed minimum (4Mbps) and that I should actually be happy that I was getting 12Mbps. If I wanted that, I would have paid for the 12Mbps plan. Peak Internet has major issues with peering and their bandwidth providers. When I pay for internet access, that means the whole internet. I'm not paying for fast speed tests to internal servers. They also just don't seem to care. They didn't want to look into the speed issue. They didn't have any desire to provide good service. They just wanted to make their money and not deal with people who call them out on their false advertising. I feel sorry for somebody less technologically savvy that is paying for their higher packages but getting slow speeds. They don't know that they're paying double or triple than they could be for the exact same speed they are getting now with the same company. This company likes to respond that they don't have any control over traffic as it leaves their network. This is in fact false. An ISP can purchase good quality bandwidth / peering agreements to deliver the best service to their customers for the most affordable price. Unfortunately, Peak does not seem to care too much about their customers. If all they can provide is their "minimum guaranteed speed," that should be what they offer. Used Peak Internet for years as we had no other options for our area. Service was slow and many times non existent. If you call customer service they blame it on the weather or you. They will have you run a dozen speed test and do a half a dozen resets, which get you no where. Now when we go to shut down our service, which we pay for a year in advance there is no credit and they force you to pay for a year regardless that we are only one month into the billing cycle. $350.00 for a month, get real. Terrible. Literally the most frustrating internet I've ever encountered. I can pause my TV(when it does work)and whatever I'm streaming by looking something up on my phone. 90% of the time I'm home after a day of work I have to put on dvds because everything just loads and buffers all night. I'm currently writing this review using my phone data because there is no internet available at my house. I even bought my own new router and its still crap. After rescheduling three times and waiting three weeks for them to finally get to my place in Florissant, they get here only to tell me that the signal isn't strong enough and even HughesNet (which I currently have) is going to be faster. That's three weeks of slow HughesNet I'll never get back as I waited and hoped Peak could help. We have now been without internet for 21 hours because of a widespread outage. They cannot provide an ETA and there appears to be no end in sight. I have had ongoing issues with Peak/Vero for more than 6 months now. My internet is fine for about 6 to 8 weeks and then goes through about a one week period of intermittent service. I have been told they have been working on the infrastructure however I cannot see any indication of this. I would like to point out I have their dish service as there is no cable in my area so perhaps their cable service is better. I would recommend using Teller WiFi (unfortunately they do not yet have a tower that has line of sight to our home) or, if you don't need to use a VPN, another satellite provider. As for me I have exactly only one other option which is Starlink. I have seen many mixed reviews and am not sure I want to spend the high upfront costs and I understand there is a significant wait time anyway. read more

The speeds is what I expected. I moved to the mountains to get away from hassles of big city and accept things like slower than cable. No problem with that. The sign up person was friendly and nice. The install guy was fantastic. Great work, friendly, fast. I have an issue with their billing dept. I signed up right away for auto pay since I dont want to miss a bill. I am busy moving in and life and didnt notice after the welcome email that I never got any invoices? The next email I recieved a month later was "Acct Suspended" due to lack of payment? I called and spoke to Derek and then Jordan on 7-2-21. Both confirmed that I was set up on auto pay and my email address was correct. Derek sent me a test email which I recieved. I changed my billing address with Credit co 2-3 weeks after install/initial bills. I tried to fix it on my Acct with Derek on the phone but I kept getting "Error". Jordan tried internally and kept getting "error". She took my info down and charged me for the outstanding bills and removed the Suspension fine. My next payment was due today... I get an email stating the payment wont go through? Odd... I get that email but no invoice email? I need copies of the invoices for tax and expense purposes as I work from home. I tried to put in a new credit card in My Accout settings and all I get is "ERROR".. THEIR system is broken and I have spent over an hour of my time so far on the phone with no resolution. read more

Last night I came home to a Peak Internet truck blocking my driveway. Not only this, but they had run over a 4ft cone in front of my mailbox that USPS had put there so they are able to access the mailbox. A 4 ft cone, they ran over. How do you miss that?! Good thing it wasn't a small child. I have images of the vehicle (which is missing the DOT #), the license plate, and the cone smashed under their truck. When confronted the driver said sorry, but then did nothing to move his vehicle. He did not unblock my driveway or move off of the cone. To make matters worse, when they did leave, they STOLE the cone. I have the footage on my ring camera. I have tried to call the company this morning, text the company as instructed on their website, no reply at all. I would be leery letting this company on or around your property, as they do not care about personal property and will steal the evidence if they do destroy something. read more

Too many barriers to do business with them: $35 dollars to come out and determine if we can use their "Wave Max" which cannot be applied to set up ($99) if we decide to use them, have to set up entire account - INCLUDING SSN# and- before we, or they, know what services will be used, representatives work on commission so if you call back and get someone else they will have that person call you back. After 15 years of dial-up speeds with CenturyLink and repeated efforts for them to upgrade our DSL we took a chance with Peak Internet even though they got some bad reviews. Most of the reviews were at least a year old and I did some research on their new technology. You no longer require line-of-sight to the tower which is what we were lacking the last time we had them out. The tech came out and couldn't have been nicer. Very professional and informative. He said we qualify for at least 13.5mbps! He got us hooked up and I couldn't believe the speed increase. It's been a month now and I couldn't be happier. read more

2 years of service , multiple visits on-site and I still can't play a single game without out getting massive lag spikes, packet loss and buffer bloat. WISPs in general do suffer from some of these issues but Peak is in a league of their own when it comes to poor connectivity. In fact my cell phone provides a better connection. Now, there are always going to be customers with unreasonable expectations, but when a business stoops to getting lawyers involved rather than just politely saying "we're sorry our service does not meet your needs" and walking the malcontents out, it's a clear sign that someone in management has an ego problem, and needs to be shown the door before they destroy the entire business. (And, in case anyone from Peak Internet is reading this... the blog I've linked to is run by a small group of attorneys with DECADES of legal experience and a passion for First Amendment rights. They would be ECSTATIC if you tried to sic your legal team on them. I strongly recommend against it. Our internet service, and the accompanying telephone service, went down Friday afternoon. After a few hours I called to report the issue, and a "ticket" was supposedly created. The next day there was still no service available and I called again. This time I was told there was no technical support over the weekend, and they would get on it on first thing Monday. Seriously? Please please .. I implore you to look anywhere else for an internet provider! Peak internet is the most INCOMPETENT business that I have EVER dealt with. Their practices borderline on FRAUD ( yes guys when you charge customers for a service that you are not providing that it is FRAUD). Just a little insight on my dealing with this horrible company... I have been a customer for approximately one year and in that time I have had MULTIPLE disastrous dealings with them to include .. not having service for almost a month and having to call every other day to try and get a resolution and after it was finally fixed ( which literally took a tech 15 minutes at my house to accomplish) they refused to refund the month of non-service. (yes that is correct they continued to charge for a month of service that they did not provide.. FRAUD) It took me going down to their office and raising hell to get a 1/2 refund! Then our router (which we rent from them) went bad .. they had us pick up a new one and it was programmed incorrectly ( another 3 days of service down.. no refund ) They claim speeds of 75mgps and we routinely check our speeds and are getting around 15! Please do not attempt to call them for help as you will be given the run around until 6pm when they close and then you will not get a call back and have to start the process over again. Final straw was yesterday when we called due to our internet being completely out for the past 2 days... We called 2 days ago to schedule to have our internet turned off on 5/29 because we are moving.. well they scheduled that date and then turned it off on 5/2/2018!!! We called in to report the issue and Mackenzie ( i believe that is the name) laughed at the fact that Shannon had both scheduled our turn off date for 5/29 an also turned it off the same day we called ! Mackenzie assured us that it would be back on in 10 minutes and to cycle the power on the router. Well as you can probably guess this did NOT happen.. 45 minutes later we were on the phone with Shannon and she said " we might be able to get it fixed tonight or tomorrow" .. WELL THIS WAS MY BREAKING point.. I drove to PEAK INTERNET and demanded to speak with the owner CEO or whomever was in charge.. (which i had dealt with previously on the phone with one of the other many issues during the past year).. THESE COWARDS decide to send a teenage girl out to deal with me rather than be MEN and come out into the lobby and fix the situation!! Are you serious hide behind your doors and desks and send a girl out to do your job... WEAK. I Simply feel I must do all that I can to let every person possible know about your horrendous business practices and absolute INCOMPETENCE when dealing with customers. I can only guess based on the other numerous reviews stating that even after scheduled termination of service , PEAK INTERNET will continue to charge my account and I will have to deal with that nightmare as many others have. We have been using peak internet for over 4 months now (fixed wireless service) and just a little over a month ago service started to degrade, high latency, and slow speeds (we are paying for 20Mbps and only getting 1-5Mbps). I called into their tech support over a month ago to report the problem and they give me EVERY excuse in the book just so they don't have to fix the problem. I have done all the troubleshooting steps I can on my end (I am a Network Admin) and everything points to either a problem with the equipment or they are over utilizing their equipment. My antenna is still aligned perfectly and has no obstructions, perfect line of sight. Thank God we have a 2nd option for internet around here because peak is absolute garbage now. When we first installed the service it was great, we would get 20Mbps all the time but now we are lucky enough to get 5Mbps and during PEAK hours we get less than 500Kbps. Granted we are using their fixed wireless WaveMax service so I cant speak for their "fiber" service which they are pushing hard to expand which is my guess as to why they don't care about their fixed wireless WaveMax customers at this time, but that's exactly how you get yourself a bad rep which all the recent reviews are showing. Good luck to Peak but I would stay FAR away from peak internet if you have a choice, and it not just me I have talked to several neighbors and they are getting the same terrible service from peak, I have convinced them to move away from peak as well and go a different direction. read more

I can't believe how terrible this company is!!! I continually have billing issues and no service or very limited service. they have double billed me or over billed me on several occasions, they also were only providing me with 12mg service when i was paying for the 20 package til one of the tech ladies fixed that,and now my Internet is even slower!!! ...I have super slow to absolutely no service in the mornings and they can't seem to fix anything...I live right in the center of town where you would think I could have decent service. I must recycle the Peak power supply 3 to 4 times a week and wait on hold many minutes when I do call in for tech help. Four speed tests tonight, after 2 outages this afternoon, were .96mbs, then after recycling, it jumped to 3.2 but fell again to 1.4 and 1.7 mbs. Peak advertises 12 mbs and we are charged for 12 but usually get little of what we pay for. I spend too much time on hold and I am always told to recycle the system to fix their system. Wish there was a company with a working system! read more

Fiber to the home? Nice, but the drop is still laying on the ground subject to all sorts of damage from wildlife, falling rocks, lawn equipment, and so on. I suppose that's more their problem than mine, except for the many lapses in service due to whatever. When I asked when they plan to bury the drop, the answer was, "Oh, you have to have that done. We can do it for you for $100." No, that was never mentioned during the sale. The most common aggravation, though, seems to be their server can't keep up with demand. We often go several minutes at a time with "page not available" waiting for the server to catch up. I should think if we are paying high prices for fiber optic speeds we shouldn't have to cool our heels waiting for even the most basic pages (e.g. the Google home page) to load. Peak Internet's actual speeds are close to advertised when the system works. It just doesn't work very often. Their "customer service" is so bad it's legendary. The only positive I can think of in discussing Peak Internet is all of the alternatives in our area are even worse. read more

Don't waste your time with this company. The installation technician was so inexperienced that I called the company to see if they could send someone else out. I was told he was the best they had. I don't think he'd ever been up on a ladder and complained the whole time about what a pain in the ass job. He spent the whole day trying to get the dish setup. He finally got it done and then could not get a connection. Turns out he did not have the necessary training to get an authorization code from Dish. TOTALLY wasted my day. Dish came out the next day and hooked me up in an hour. read more

This is the worst ISP I have ever had. We have their WAVmax service and the service advertises "fiber-like speeds" but doesn't provide what those speeds will be. The speeds range anywhere from 40 down to less than 1 down randomly throughout the day and the speeds typically hover around 3-5. Truly unacceptable when we pay $150 a month for a poor internet connection! We have replaced our router thinking it was the issue and have tried a long list of other things to no avail. The ping will skyrocket the second more than one person uses the connection making doing simple tasks online like simply checking an email take an eternity. Streaming videos works ok most of the time but watching any live streams is near impossible as the connection is so unstable the quality will drop to unwatchable resolutions or not work at all. Taking to people over online in voice or video chats is painfully difficult often randomly cutting out or being extremely laggy. Trying to video chat often causes communication to drop or be unusable. Uploading anything such as pictures tends to take a very long time and causes the internet for everyone else to be unusable until the upload is completed. Trying to play any sort of online game is a gamble if it will be playable or not as the ping could either be completely normal or exceeding ping times of what satellite would provide at a drop of a hat. I know people with LTE connections in their households that dont have Peak Internet get much more reliable service at a fraction of the cost. We had their fiber connection in Woodland Park and it was just as terrible causing us to drop them only after a week. We would switch to another provider where we live but it's like they have a monopoly here as they are the only provider that isn't a satellite. But right across the street, there is a much cheaper and more reliable DSL connection available but for whatever reason, only their phone service is available to us. We would gladly take Sattelite at this point but for jobs related to our household, we need the lowest latency possible to perform that job. So, for now, we are essentially stuck with them until a new service arrives. read more

In March 2017 I decided to try our local internet provider, Peak Internet for internet service. In April 2017 I added phone service though Peak as well. The installation appointment was set and the installers came out, put up the WaveMax antenna, tested the computer to make sure of a signal and I was up and running...so I thought. Between March and October 2017 I called Peak Internet more than 24 times due to no service. Sometimes I was without service for a day, sometimes for 3 days. Each time a phone call was placed to their tech support and each time the calls lasted more than 30 minutes, most of it on hold (I have kept all my phone records of these calls). Through my mounting frustrations I followed their steps to restore my connection (unplugging this...plugging in that) each and every time. By August I could walk them through what they wanted me to do. On occasion they credited my account a couple of dollars for the day or days I was inconvenienced (I also kept records of the credit invoices that were sent to me via email). But I had to initiate a credit, they did not offer one. One time they didn't credit me at all stating they have 48 hours to fix a problem before a credit is considered. Funny, I didn't find that in the service agreement. After 2 dozen times of being without service and not being a technical person, I insisted that a field tech visit my house as I thought there might be an equipment issue due to the consistent and endless outages I was experiencing, and since there were never any other outages in our subdivision according to tech support. An appointment was made in October. The day came and the tech showed up. It took him longer to walk to our front door from his truck than it took to fix the problem. During the initial installation back in March the installer set a switch to reconnect MANUALLY instead of AUTOMATICALLY...that was the simple version he told us. He switched it to the proper setting and before leaving, 4 minutes after arriving, he said this was the easiest fix he's had. I don't know, I'd think someone in the tech office would have thought of this months ago, instead, a technically challenged customer thought of this. Peak Internet did not approach me to offer any credit for their mistake. I needed to take time out of my day to argue my case with them time and time again. Calls to their billing department were often not returned and at times I needed to spend my lunch hour going to their office to try and talk with someone face to face. To their credit in November they did offer me a credit of up to $100 to cover their fault and keep me as a customer. This came to $12.50 off my monthly bill since signing up. So, I was still spending $77.50 for service that may or may not work due to their error at installation. I proposed they issue me another credit for the month of December. I figure hitting them in the pockets would prevent a future simple mistake such as this, along with all the frustrations, to some other customer. They declined any further credits. As a consumer I will decline their service after December. I needed to remain an active customer with Peak so the new company I plan to do business with can successfully port our phone number over. Please note that this was my experience with Peak with the WaveMax system that was suggested where I live. I cannot comment on any other services they provide outside the service, or lack of, provided to me. In closing I would do your homework, read the reviews, and ask A LOT of questions. There are many other ISPs available in the Pikes Peak region. read more

I signed up for 20mbps wireless service. The installers were great, but I did repeated speed tests. In general, when the connection was idle, I got somewhere near the advertised speed, maybe 16 or 17mbps. But if I started a download of a Linus ISO, I saw the speed gradually decrease, until after 20 to 30 minutes I was getting an irregular 3 or 4 mbps, sometimes as little as 1 or 2 mbps. I called tech support who told me that the system was working as designed and my expectations of a near-20mbps steady connection were unrealistic. I conveyed this information to the CEO when I cancelled, and never heard from him. read more

I understand the aspects and challenges of wireless but when I see very consistent fluctuations in speed, based entirely on the time of day, then there's obviously some throttling or traffic engineering going on or the bandwidth is shared and Peak Internet doesn't care to add more bandwidth. I can only complain so much because this is the only option for me outside of latency rich satellite connectivity, but come on guys, the least you could do is to not tell me "Up to 20Mbps" bandwidth that I'll never see, even without a tree and right next to your antenna I suspect. I've seen 12Mbps but by the time I get home from work, it's typically 5Mbs or a bit lower. If you have an alternative, I'd go with that. read more

I am so disgustingly unsatisfied with Peak Internet. I paid for a year of service in January of 2016. This was my 3rd year in a row of paying for an entire year. I was NEVER informed I was in any kind of contract. I have had major issues with them. I even went almost two months with no service, they told me it was my router. Finally they sent someone out and my entire antenna had to be replaced! I had speeds of 10mbps (if I was lucky) some days it was at 3 Mbps when I paid for 20. I called so many times complaining about the slow speeds. I was told over and over again it was the router. I replaced my router three times! It never got better! They told me to check my router fire wall so I had an outside company come and check everything, they couldn't find anything wrong with my router. Not once did they offer to move my router or offer me one to see if it helped. I cancelled my service about two months ago. I am using the same router and my speeds are close to 100mbps. Peak Internet refuses to refund me the money I paid forward. I am not even asking for the past months, only the months forward. This company is shady and they are not open with people and do not inform them that they will not receive money back it service is cancelled. I am posting this for a friend who has no internet. You'll see why below. My friend suggested Peak so I went to their office (early June) to sign up and gave a debit card to pay (my friend standing right next to me when I did this). They come out and they have to fix something in their system to get me service. They made an appt. no call no show. Made another appt no call no show. Called their office, they apologized and offered 3 months free. They came out a few days later 7/8/16. Got service. In Sept They shut off my service said no payment (should have been 3 months free) said they had no card on file, said they never offered 3 months free. They are now saying I had service because their equip has been at my house, they just took it down today. I told them in Dec to come and get it. They say I owe them for all of the time their equip was at my house and because their equip was there I had service. I had no service from Sept 16. I am not allowed to talk to anyone higher up than the office manager and she is a liar. read more
