They came with all the necessary supplies, even a sweet blanket and basket to wrap him up and carry him out in. I cannot speak more highly about my experience with Peaceful Pathways and Dr. Pearson. I woke up early one morning to discover that my 13-year-old black lab was no longer able to stand or walk, and knew that it was clearly his time. I asked my vet for an in-home referral, but the number went to voicemail service. I did a quick yelp review and found Melissa; I called and her recording said the best way to reach her was via text. I did, and she texted back within minutes and moved her schedule around to be able to be there within a few hours. She was patient, meticulous, and a true professional at every step. It is clear that she has been doing this a long time, is truly committed to her patients and the animals she is serving, and the overall experience was seamless thanks to her and her assistant. I had another dog that I wanted to have nearby so she could perhaps process what was happening, and Melissa encouraged her to climb all over the place and be around us 100%. I read nightmare reviews from other places about the kind of people who show up (if they show up at all), how callously they were treated, and if you even hear from anyone after they leave with your pet. I received Chuck's ashes just four days after he was put down, along with his paw print and nose print. I am so thankful that these two women were there to be beside me, coach me, and console me during this incredibly emotional time. We recently came to the guy-wrenching decision that we needed to put down one of our cats. It was honestly such a hard one, but once it was made, I just wanted it done so she quit suffering. Also, I could not imagine going into the vet's office to do this, as I knew it would stress out my kitty. I found Peaceful Pathways online and truly appreciated a service that would come to my home where she felt the most comfortable. I was beyond blown away by Dr. Pearson. She and her assistant arrived right on time, and she immediately gave my cat a shot that made her fully relax. Dr. Pearson said it was the more expensive drugs, but so worth it as it instantly assured me that my cat was not feeling stress or anxiety or pain. She was incredibly sympathetic and sweet to my cat - just overall made such a hard experience so much easier. I knew that my older dog was getting close to her final days so I began planning ahead. If she was too scared to let go herself, I was going to have to help her. Her love and adoration for me never failed, but sadly, her health did, and I didn't want to see her suffer. She was already not the bouncy, curious dog she once was. I read and read about all our different options. We even tried homeopathic medicine and animal massage techniques to relax her and help her with the transition, but dogs are not programmed to let go. They are programmed to serve us until the end, and I believe this is why my sweet girl hung on for so long - for me. From the first phone call asking about information on this service to the very end I was impressed with Dr. Pearson. She responded to texts very quickly and answered all of my questions. Our dog died on his own the night before she was scheduled to come out. She came the next morning and was so kind and compassionate. She cleaned up the mess that happens after death so I didn't have to deal with the really awful part (just the disinfecting afterwards). She allowed and encouraged our other dog to sniff and investigate what was going on so she could have some closure as well. It was devastating when my elderly big dog Annie ( a Great Pyrenees) suddenly lost all use of her back legs.
