The worst place! They have you on hold for more than 30 minutes pretty much every time you call. They wont see you in person, if you cant connect to their televisit service they charge you no show fees. They have absolutely no sympathy for any of your complaints. They just yell at you or scold you and try to make you feel like its all your fault. I called twice they hung up on me twice and then when i tried to explain that I didnt want to wait another 30 minutes on hold they put me on hold in the middle of my sentence. For a place that is supposed to help people with mental health they are sure making it so much harder. I work at a clinic and I would never ever treat any of my patients this way. read more

I was referred to PCSD by my health insurance for a diagnostic. They literally could not schedule that test for over 9 months. In the interim they scheduled me with a counsellor, that I could not see for at least 3 from the the start of this process. While waiting I found that I could not wait, so paid out of pocket for other therapy until PCSD was available, hoping to be a good patient and eventually consolidate everything into a single provider under my health insurance. While I found the PCSD therapists thoughtful, supportive, and listening, they were exceptionally dismissive of the non-PCSD therapists that I was also seeing. Never mind that they were the ones actually available and able to treat me. Finally my diagnostic appt came about, but it wasn't. It was another intake interview as the Dr. wanted to do another since the last one PCSD had done was now more than 6 months old. Not by my choice, this was their own scheduling. And throughout she was dismissive of me, claiming I was seeking a diagnosis. Ultimately it was the single worst Dr. appt I have ever experienced, including the that resulted in actual malpractice. The Dr. was rude and dismissive of me. The good news is that I have new insurance that actually covers doctors that actually seem to want to help and not punch a time clock. DO NOT GO TO PCSD IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF HELP. read more

If you enjoy listening to on hold music this is your place. Have extra time on our hands to wait, book an appointment with PCSD now. I booked appointments for myself and my daughter. The wait time for the first appointment was more than a month out. Changing or cancelling appointments is a nightmare. They all seem to be overworked/booked and I am not sure how someone in this line of work can mentally handle that many patients effectively. My daughter has had a better experience despite the extremely long hold times. They have a normal cancelation policy, however they would not even consider waiving it when I attempted to call the day before and was on hold for over 30 minutes, having to hang up because of a work meeting. The two stars are because my daughters people are cool. read more

I have been going to PCSD in Escondido since 2007. I have always been treated professionally by the administrative staff. My counselor, Dr. Vicki Dowling is very experienced and qualified. She has helped me tremendously. When I first started going, I was having some missed appointment issues, but that was related to the issues I was having that impacted my ability/performance skills with maintaining my calendar and staying actively engaged in my own personal responsibilities (self care). After reading some reviews, it is clear the patients were upset and needed help; however, we need to take personal responsibility for our own mistakes and shortcomings, and not take it out on and blame the receptionists. In cases where it was PCSDs fault, there is no business out there that doesn't make mistakes sometimes. People are human, it can happen. I recommend being kind as you work through any issues. Yes, keep a record of when you cancel an appointment and ask where you can send an email to confirm to document. Think about what you can do to make things less stressful for you. The world isn't out there to cater to you, you need to cater to yourself. Think about how many people the person you are speaking with was yelled at by that day. Work through the admin stuff, because there is great care to be had and you're missing out. Good mental health to you all! read more

Doctors are great but you can't reach anyone to refill a prescription. Prepare to be put on hold for 30 minutes only to have your call end. This review is not the result of this happening once or twice, but every single time I have called within the last year. If you want your prescription refilled, you have to select any option other than the "refill medication" option when you call. Good luck. read more

The psychiatrist I first had I loved. She listened to me and worked with me. Sadly she left. I ended up with another psychiatrist and she was awful. All she wanted to do was keep adding on more and more meds. Would get mad at me if I said I didn't want to take that many meds or seemed mad if I had horrible side effects. I told her about the awful GI issues I was having from the antipsychotics she put me on and she said she had never heard of such a thing. Funny, the Mayo Clinic has! I didn't want to take anti psychotics to begin with. I left her and she sent me a nasty letter about how she was getting rid of me because I wasn't following her directions. Lady, I left YOU a long time ago. The letter went on to say how I was going to end up hospitalized because I wasn't listening to her. The irony is I did end up hospitalized because of the meds she put me on that I didn't want to take. Now I'm on different meds and doing so much better! Stay away from this place. read more

Extremely bad billing practices. They've been billing me for a "cancelled" appointment that I never confirmed. First is was for 75.00 then lowered to 35.00 but I have no idea where they are pulling out these numbers from. What's comical about it, is that they have now spent more on postage trying to bill me over the last few years that was even allegedly owed. I have an 850 point credit score. Nobody is going to buy this "debt" and I'm surely not going to pay it as I don't owe it. I wonder if the doctor is aware of how completely horrible and unprofessional their office staff is by wasting time with this fictitious billing? It looks like the office staff must be bored or something. Who knows.. but all the PCSD offices are the same. Find a smaller office to deal with. This is a cattle call designed to sell as many psychotropic drugs as they can handle. Run don't walk. read more

PCSD treats their staff and their patients terribly! Since I've been coming to PCSD for the past five years I've had four therapist quit they all told me that they did not like working for PCSD. The reason I'm tired of PCSD also is during Covid there is no way to communicate with them. It's extremely hard to get in touch with anyone. They are very unprofessional. read more

I am writing this review because I noticed that PCSD has had so many lower reviews, and it surprised me. I have been receiving care at PCSD for many years, and I have always been very happy with them. My doctor, Dr. Khachatrian, is very knowledgeable, caring, and helpful. I have always been able to get appointments easily, and I have been impressed with the quality of their customer service and the attractiveness/cleanliness of their facilities. I highly recommend PCSD, though of course when you are dealing with medications, you must always expect side-effects and may have several bad experiences before you find something that works for you. I wouldn't blame the doctors or the facility for these experiences. I had to take quite a few medicines before I found the one that works best for my illness. I wish you all the best! read more

I left a full-length review on their Rancho Bernardo page, but the bottom line is that PCSD is terrible. I'm urging everyone with issues with the company to file a grievance with their insurance company so maybe we'll have better mental health options in the future. A few of my biggest complaints: Having to wait six weeks for an appointment with a therapist and then another two months for a follow up appointment. Having a nurse practitioner tell me to "get over it" when I told him about something that was bothering me. Having a psychiatrist tell me I couldn't have insomnia medication right now because I'll be trying to get pregnant in a month from now and she doesn't seem to understand how pregnancy works. This location has a handful of decent reviews, but check reviews for their other locations and you'll realize the company itself has serious problems, not just individual locations. read more

This is probably the WORST office I have ever dealt with. Trying to make an appt. for my daughter was horrific. The entire call was 32 minutes (most of it was the long wait time) when I finally talked to someone I was only able to make 1 appt. due to her "computer issues" and she wasn't even sure that the one I had made had even saved in the system! When I asked if she could transfer me to another receptionist that wasn't having those issues or if she could take my number and call me back she rudely said "I CANT HELP YOU, YOURE GONNA HAVE TO CALL BACK" when I asked why she was being so rude she hung up on me! I should have known at this point how it was going to go, but desperate for help for my child and restrained by the contractual agreement by my HMO plan, I had no choice but to proceed. When I arrived at the appt I arrived on time and filled out my paperwork from the receptionist who seemed over it. Tried to ask her a question about the Employee Assistance Program that they participate in and she looked at me like I had just told her I was an alien. The therapist was nice but I'm not sure how effective she will be and this whole experience has left me pretty discouraged. If I could give them a half star for the nice therapist I would, but that's it. read more

Fast forward to several months later, my boyfriend is telling me about getting a no show charge from an appointment that he canceled and it was the same office - PCSD in Mission Valley. PCSD is really terrible. Shabby B-class offices are really seedy. Many issues with billing and appointments. We finally found a psychiatrist we like but would always have to wait at least 45 minutes after the appointment time to see her. She got fed up with the terrible office management and left. PCSD is the only mental health provider that our insurance allows. Sharp! Right now we are looking for a new doctor for our adolescent and they only have a couple of doctors available and they have really terrible reviews. Guess we will have to pay out of pocket. Sharp must fix this problem. We weren't very happy with Kaiser Permanente but at least their mental health care was top notch. read more

Id place 0 stars if possible. I write this while I'm on hold, I've been on hold for over 45min and still going, just trying to cancel my appointment so I don't get charged. I'm calling at Monday morning at 11am. this is pathetic. If I don't cancel in time I am charged but they can waste my time by sitting me on hold for half of my work day. And they can't take calls over the weekend but their billing department answers right away. Also no other way to cancel or book appointments without calling. Worst health care company I have ever experienced. It also took me almost a month to receive my first prescription. San Marcos office piss poor billing service... after waiting 2 months for an appointment because only 1 witch Dr accepts TriCare. They never processed our bill through Tri Care, but just sent us the bill. Sent a check for bill then called to find out why we got the bill. 3 weeks later still no refund after Tri Care paid full bill. Had to call again for them to see that they owe a refund. Now we have to wait 3 to 4 weeks they say. read more

Done with this place! They create more stress than help. Months ago I missed an appointment which was of no fault of my own. The doctor excused it, asked me multiple times if she excused it and I told her yes. She went on maternity leave without fixing the billing and they billed me $75. I missed another appointment (my fault) but it would be incredibly helpful if they didn't call you WEEKS in advance to remind you of your appointment. I have had out of town guests the last 3 days an a surgery scheduled in 2 days. The appointment, even though it's in my calendar was completely forgotten about. It would be nice if they cared and called to remind you the day before. But maybe they are banking on their clients forgetting so they can charge and arm and a leg for a missed appointment. The PCSD in Escondido is an amazing office. Everyone was very nice, and it is nice to be treated well since you are the patient in need of help. Caring, smiling and laughing is a good atmosphere for patients. I will continue to come here. I was very well taken care of. All three of the girls up front showed that they truly care about there job and wanting to help others. PCSD IN RANCHO BERNARDO: Helen Davis PHD MFT: I walked in this office struggling with my elementary aged son....and I walked out in desperation for getting myself help after a 45 minute "Psychiatry" appointment that literally accomplished didely squat. I did, however, find out that the lady whom I assumed was a licensed psychiatrist was, in fact: NOT a psychiatrist after all..she's a therapist/counselor who happens to have (and she made a point to bring this up): a PHD. This information was not given to me until she was wrapping up our session and practically kicking my son and I out of her office quite abruptly. She advised that my son should probably make an appointment with one of their psychiatrists! Oh really?! As if I didn't already know this?! Wow. I could easily write ten pages on paper to explain my complete and utter dissatisfaction with this "PHD- therapist",who, in no way-shape-or form, is contributing to the world of Mental Health. - That is unless you believe in discouraging patients from seeking further Mental Health Help as a possible contribution. The most coincidental part about all of this was when I realized this same lady, Helen Davis, was the same exact person whom I reached out to several years ago while in the midst of undergoing my divorce! Previously, I had never visited any type of mental health specialist. I was told by my insurance: Blue Shield HMO through Sharp medical group to contact PCSD directly (BIG MISTAKE...BIG). All together, My PCSD experience was a terrible one full of disappointments due to Helen Davis's ineffective, detached, impersonal, and rushed approach. It was because of this specific experience that I never returned nor did I seek further treatment from anyone in the Mental Health field. And now, 5 years later, I have paid the ultimate price of living with an undiagnosed mental illness that has left me in a state of 'mental' paralysis (unable to hold a job, development of painkiller addiction 3 years ago as an attempt to self medicate my unknown illness, never ending financial nightmares, negative impact of catastrophic proportions on my family and my life...the list of subsequent consequences sadly appears endless. I will stop try to wrap up my review here before it becomes Yelp's new #1 New Bestseller hitting a book stand near you. Lastly.. If you take anything away from this review I've expressed here- please do yourself and/or your loved ones a favor and avoid PCSD all together. MOST IMPORTANTLY: DO NOT LET ONE SINGLE (or even a few) BAD EXPERIENCE(S) DISCOURAGE YOU FROM GETTING HELP WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR MENTAL HEALTH. If I could give this office zero stars, believe me, I would. First off, I'd like to say that PCSD as a whole is no good. Scheduling an appointment with a psychiatrist is like pulling teeth. I really wanted to change psychiatrists and go to a location closer to home instead of RB and the call office told me that every other office has absolutely no available appointments until October. I get that. However, what I DONT GET is that even after I gave PCSD my updated insurance information, they proceed to send me an incorrect billing statement saying that I owe $200 from ONE office visit. After calling them to resolve this issue, they then tell me that they don't have my information. WHAT?! But that's not all, folks. There's more. Currently, both my pharmacy and I are trying to get ahold of my psychiatrist for a prescription refill. Apparently my pharmacy has sent out SEVERAL faxes notifying my pdoc that I need a refill and we have heard NOTHING from them for TWO WEEKS. I am now down to one pill and I am about to go out of town for vacation and I am not down to suffer from any withdrawal symptoms! I'm pretty sure it's not legal for them to do this kind of thing, right??? I have had nothing but a bad experience from PCSD and I will soon be looking for another place to continue my services. read more

When you cancel an appointment, make sure you get it in writing (written, fax, email) or they will charge you a no show fee 5 months later. I called to cancel an appointment because I was very ill. I left a message on the weekend and called on the day of to confirm. Thinking everything was taken care off until 5 months later I was slapped with a $60 bill. When I called to ask why they said they don't have any records of me calling in. Good job PCSD! read more

The psych nurse was very rude to me when I tried to make my very first refill appointment. He was condescending and reprimanded me for not leaving on the voicemail how to spell my last name. He was acting like I ruined his day for causing him to have to look it up in the system. Please do not take out your terrible mood and anger on patients. For my experience with the Escondido office and their staff has only been pleasant, efficient and competent. My experiences with Doctor Drimmer and Mrs. Kari Pearman, as well as with the front desk personel have only been excellent. I have been with Rancho Bernardo office for 4 years and the doctor decided to cut the medication. After 2 years cutting the medication, I feel the same. I called the appointment department yesterday and a RUDE lady set the appointment for end of November. She called me back after 10 minutes and told me that we need to reschedule the appointment as I am a new patient and was trying to schedule the appointment for January 2020. I tried to explain the situation but she interrupted me and didn't let me talk. She told me in a RUDE manner that it's my only choice. When I told her that I don't want that appointment, she hung up on me. I don't have any problem with Rancho Bernardo office staff and the physicians, they are good, knowledgeable, and professional, but some staff in appointment department are awful. read more

Office staff in San Marcos rudest I have ever come across when they should be the most compassionate in a psychology office. That is the main reason I will not go back to this practice. My adopted son needed some help. He is only 5 years old. It took me 6 months to get an appointment. Then, I missed my appointment, after no one even called to confirm or remind me, just to bill me. After six months, we had figured out how to deal with the issue, even though it was extremely hard. So, all I got was charged and never received any services. Lame! Horrible! Not helpful! read more

This review does not describe all staff at this location, but I have been going here for 2 years and have always had bad experiences with the staff. Don't get me wrong, some of the ladies are very nice, however, there are a few that I can say are incredibly rude. Whether it be phone conversations or in person, these ladies are just not very professional. Of course, they never give names on their voicemails or over the phone so I couldn't say exactly who. Hopefully this changes so they don't lose more patients. Doctors are fine from my experience so try another location. read more

I was a patient there and when I first tried to make an appointment I had to leave messages with the office manager named Robin. I was very disappointed that she never returned any phone calls and I had to go through other channels to get to talk to someone than I was given a doctor by the name of Vicky and I only got to see her once. I did make another appointment and they were canceled and I did reschedule and that one was canceled as well I have been trying to work two jobs and reschedule but that wasn't good enough she sent a letter telling me it was my fault that I never made the appointments. She never made any attempt to call me her self and find out what was going on she just sent a very unprofessional letter I did speck to the office manager Robin but only after I made a comment about how she never calls people back and she told me that the doctor has other people waiting to talk to her and that it was my fault I never made the appointments. If you are able to go else where please do so. I schedule an appointment at a time and day convenient for me at the San Marcos office. I showed up 30 minutes before my schedule appointment. When I told the receptionist I was checking in to see the nurse practitioner and I gave my name she laughed and state, we did not have a number for you on file and could not contact you to let you know your appointment was cancelled. Say what after waiting over a month for this appointment, and it's your fault that you schedule the appointment at a wrong time because they messed up since there is no supervising psychiatrist, so now the nurse practitioner can't see me. This is not my fault, and should not have to pay for their mistakes. Being a previous patient of another PCSD location and them having my work number on file the could of made a greater attempt to contact me, but no they wait until I walk in to let me know I no longer have an appointment while the receptionist is laughing. This is just rude and unprofessional. I stayed calm and try to reschedule my appointment being as patient as I could and gave the receptionist dates and times when I could make it, what does she do, she offer me totally different days and times. Then i get told that there is nothing available until April if i want a certain time and day and she laugh while she is telling me, really this is just wrong. She don't have first call another location to find out if they have a nurse practitioner that would be able to see me on a Friday . I'm standing at the window as she is waiting on hold but talking to her co workers even though I'm standing in front of her . She tells me bad there is somebody that can see me on a Friday but I have to call that location. I am really upset and willing to pay cash to go to another facility that is not contracted with my insurance but that gives me great service. Once again if you are able to avoid this place please do so. read more
