Very competent and charges reasonable rates. I had great service with PC Maid after being frustrated elsewhere. The other shop (I won't name them) tried to tell me the only way to fix my Windows updates would be a very expensive disk replacement. I may not know much about computers but I knew this was baloney. I declined his repairs and called PC Maid. She fixed my laptop and charged me less than she originally said it would be. Computers and technology is something I depend on so I'm always at the mercy of tech support, it seems a lot. To be able to take the time and try to remove the viruses or repair a file that won't open would take me forever to figure out. I once tried to remove a virus and I fixed the pop up but managed to totally screw up my windows. Every time I'd try to open or run a program windows would ask what program to use to open or run it. That was a waste of almost an entire day. Then there was the time my hard drive crashed! I won't even discuss that, all I can say is two words to remember: Back up. read more

I have a Dell computer and the screen started flickering and sometimes the graphics would just lock up. Then I powered it on last weekend and the screen just stayed black. I made an appointment and dropped it off with her on Monday. She determined I had a bad video card and gave me helpful advice so I could decide whether to fix it or not based on its age and condition. I decided to go ahead with the new card. PC maid has pulled me out of several headaches with my computer. Every few months the thing needs to pay her a visit, usually just before tax time. Last week it was starting to freeze up randomly. I brought it over to her on Thursday to go through it to be sure I didn't have any spyware lurking, stealing information when I'm doing year-end books. She is very thorough and got it running like a top again. I had her upgrade the memory also which made a huge difference in performance. Windows 10 is not something I have the time to learn right now, so I'm going to keep my old windows 7 machine running as long as it will last. I don't see any benefit to buying new when the one I have keeps rolling along. On Tuesday our computer screen started giving constant warnings that it was infected. I called the number on the screen and realized when the guy hardly spoke English it was a scam. I hung up but it was too late. The computer was overtaken by windows opening on my screen. I couldn't even get to email. I tried calling Microsoft but that was useless. I called a few places in Rochester and she quoted the best rates for the fastest time. I picked the laptop up after work a day later and it runs great.
