This review is entirely based on my experience getting a quote. I cannot comment on the quality of work from Payson Lock and Key.
My son lost his key FOB outside in the snow. After many hours of searching, even with a metal detector, we were forced to give up and look at replacement. I called a handful of locksmiths in Utah County, including Payson Lock & Key. Being located in Elk Ridge, Payson made the most sense. I received quotes from locksmiths with a lead time of 2-3 days to source the part. They each checked multiple suppliers. However, I was told by this company that their supplier can not get this part and it was, in fact, a dealer only item. I called two more locksmiths in Orem and even American Fork to ask if the FOB was indeed only able to be sourced by the dealer. It's just not true. Period.
Perhaps Payson Lock and Key doesn't need the business or the hassle of sourcing parts because it's a more remote location? In any case I would highly recommend looking at locksmiths in surrounding areas. Spanish Fork, Provo, Orem, American Fork, and even one really nice guy in West Jordan were willing to work with me.
