Back in December of 2023 my car was getting old and expensive to take care of and once the…read moreheadlight went out and I had to rent a car, as car fate would have it, my rental was a Maxda CX-5. I really enjoyed driving it, so that's what led me to Stokes Mazda. They had a brand new beautiful red CX-5. They also had a no interest deal that I couldn't pass up! I did get an extended warranty and the oil change package. After driving it a while I did realize I was missing defrost capable side mirrors. And to use GPS you have to connect your phone and use your data. Besides that, I love my new car. The team at the dealership is always super helpful and polite.

We took the car for the test drive and loved the vehicle. While we didn't actually purchase a vehicle from them, we did love their dealership, the friendliness of all staff, the cleanliness of the dealership and their overall professionalism. I would have definitely have purchased from them it they weren't almost 2 hours from my house. Unfortunately there are no local Mazda dealers in the Hilton Head area. If you live in the greater Charleston area, I highly recommend Matt and the team at Stokes. They will do what it takes to get you into a great car.

My normal checkup, oil change, and a bulb replacement was completed in a timely manner. The waiting area is nice with WiFi and a tv. It was easy to make a scheduled appointment. Unfortunately, our experience with this service department was disappointing from the moment I walked in. When I entered for the first time, two male employees were standing together with clipboards talking to one another. Rather than greeting me, both turned so their backs were toward me. I stood there awkwardly waiting for assistance that never came. I eventually approached someone seated behind a computer who told me he would be my service advisor. The very first thing he said was, "We don't do this sort of thing on the weekends," even though it was Friday and I had a scheduled appointment. He followed with, "I hope somebody informed you... it's going to be a few days." Starting the interaction by explaining what you don't do set the tone for the entire experience. When I asked if they could replace the registration sticker inside the windshield while the vehicle was there, I was told, "I don't know if they can do that -- I'd hate for them to ruin the windshield." That response did not further inspire confidence. I requested a different service manager and ultimately had a warranty repair completed (the car had a rattle in the muffler I brought the car in after making an appointment, to service this specific issue). An oil change and tire rotation were "recommended" at 16,000 miles (we had full synthetic done at 10,000), still I agreed to proceed with the additional services. The vehicle was in their possession for a full week. When it was returned, there were significant new scratches on the tires and a shiny screw embedded in one of them. I noticed the scratches and screw and asked to speak with a manager. The service manager claimed he "thought it was there" when I dropped the car off and referenced photos he stated were taken before service. However, the damage was not present when we delivered the vehicle. After a week in the shop -- including a tire rotation and multi-point inspection -- missing a visible screw raises serious concerns about the thoroughness of the service performed. The lack of professionalism, and accountability was extremely disappointing -- especially with a newer vehicle and as customers hoping to build a trusted service relationship in a new community. Due to our experience, we will not be returning and cannot recommend this service department.
