    NEVER rent a car from this place. I made a reservation on Expedia and it was with Payless rental. When I arrived at the location it turned out to be Payless Rental, Avis and Budget- All 3 at one location with 1 employee. This place looks like a pop up, fly by night location in poor condition. The same person at the desk was same person that washed the car and brought it around front while customers waited. I had a 4-day rental for almost. $200 which is already very high for an intermediate car. Ultimately I was told that there were no cars to choose from, just one car (Please note there was someone behind me there to get a vehicle). I could not get a FastTrack because Payless doesn't offer it and if I drove outside of a range it was .49 a mile. After waiting approx. 10 minutes for the car outside I was presented with a dripping wet car. It was brought to me by the associate from the front desk which was left unattended. As I inspected the car I noticed that it had filthy seats (see picture). I was told by the attendant "This is what you get when you rent from Payless." He went on to say that you get what you pay for and that I should have upgraded to budget or avis. Since they are both at this location I asked if I could transfer my contract and receive me another car. He said no; therefore, I refused the car and asked to cancel the contract. I went on to ask for the number to corporate. I called while sitting there and was told this was a "franchise location" where all 3 companies are serviced at one location like the airport with several airlines and that they would not transfer my rental contract to budget or avis. I pointed out the fact that every airline has their own employees and this location had 1 employee for all 3 car rental companies meaning that they are all working together. Overall I was basically told that Payless is the bottom of the barrel and they get the vehicles that Avis and Budget do not want and cars with over 60k miles. My final question and most astonishing was- if I rented the dirty wet car, what was the man behind me in line going to get. I was told that it would have been explained to him that reservations made on expedia and other sites are not guaranteed and he would have to go elsewhere or pay for a car from budget or avis. THE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER SEEN. I ubered myself to Hertz located at 92 State Rte 17 in Paramus, NJ 07652 where I received excellent service and for the same price got a clean car, with 12k miles.

    This is the line. I've been behind 5 customers for an hour. I feel bad for all the people in the back.

    I do appreciate the lower cost, although I haven't reached the counter yet. This has to be the worst service. Been here 45 minutes and only two people have gone through. You guys have to do something.

Getting there and turning into the business is a nightmare since it's on a busy road and parking is very minimal. There isn't much space to park if it's busy which is first thing in the morning and right before 5:30pm. I had to wait for about 35 minutes since there was only 1 person working the desk and the person in front of me had no idea about his insurance and the prices he had to pay. I have plenty of patience so I waited, but I cannot speak for others that were there waiting with me needing to go to work. The office is dark and I felt it was a little messy. But I'm not there for that. As soon as it was my turn I was in and out in 10 minutes. The person was great, gave her my drivers license, credit card and I declined insurance since my car insurance covered this. Took a look at the car for damages, checked the gas and I was off. Later in the day, returning the car was even easier, he walked around the car for damages, checked my gas and we were done. Thanks enterprise. You just need to work on the parking situation and maybe have those line straps like they have in the banks so people know where to form a line.

However, when I arrived for pickup, I was denied the rental due to a "location-specific policy" regarding probationary licenses. This policy was never disclosed to me during booking or in my prior call with customer service. I was assisted by Sam at the counter and later spoke with the manager, Bobby Sabharwal. While I understand that policies may vary by location, the way this situation was handled was disappointing. When I asked for clarification or simple written documentation explaining the denial (so I could report back to my company), I was repeatedly interrupted and told to "have legal follow up," without being provided any immediate documentation or support. There was little effort to listen or offer a solution in real time. As a result, I was left without a vehicle after traveling to the location for a time-sensitive, work-related obligation. To be clear: I verified eligibility before booking I showed up with all required documentation I was still denied service due to a policy that was never communicated This reflects a breakdown between corporate booking and franchise-level policies, and unfortunately, the burden fell entirely on me as the customer. I recommend that anyone booking here: Call the specific location directly Ask detailed questions about license requirements Get confirmation in writing if possible There needs to be better transparency and basic customer care in situations like this. No one should be left stranded after doing everything correctly on their end.

My wife was at work, so I couldn't ask her to remind me. I called MetroPark on April 3rd for a pickup on April 4th and spoke to 'Sid'. He seemed like a nice enough guy although he couldn't seem to either hear or understand what I was saying part of the time. He told me what the price would be for the pickup at our home and for the return trip, I gave him my credit card info and email and he said I would be receiving an email or text confirmation. By the morning of April 4th, I had still not received any confirmation but what I did receive was an almost $400 charge on my card from them. The agreed upon price I got on the phone was $120 each way. I called the main number back at 8:10 am on April 4th, got a different person, told them I had not received confirmation and asked why I was charged so much extra. He was rude and condescending, said it was sent and that I should check my spam email (which I had already done prior to calling), told me the extra fees were for gratuities and other expenses and added that I shouldn't book them if I can't afford it. Keep in mind that this comment comes from a semi-literate working at a taxi stand. Needless to say, I emphatically told him to cancel the service and hoped this would be the end of it. I then called my bank to give them the heads up about these charges as I would be out of the country for over a week. They explained that the charges were still pending, but I at least wanted it to be on record that I contacted them immediately. As I write this on April 13th, the charges were still on my card, so I filed a fraud complaint with my bank and the charges will be taken off. Also, we went with the car service we had previously used and they were honest, charged less, had a clean, new car and were top notch. Even our driver was a pleasure. To summarize, it is much easier to be an honest company who treats their clients with respect and good service than a vampiric parasite who tries to cheat honest people out of their money. You are only hurting yourselves in the long run through loss of business and reputation. MetroPark, are a few extra ill-gotten bucks really worth it?

Driver said thanks and keep them posted. I notified them 3 more times by text and talked to the driver on the phone and he said not to worry, keep him posted. So I did. He said he was at a party, no problem. Never did he tell me I was being charged from the original time. I believed that because I gave over 2.5 hours notice, I wouldn't be charged. I paid $193 for the trip from Metropark to Rumson. They billed me an extra $180 the next day. When I questioned Sid, he was extremely rude. He sent an email threatening to sue me if I write a bad review. The below email was sent at 1:51 pm on 11/30/2023: Megan Ferber , The charge is in line with company policy and terms and service, Please read the company policy and it was emailed to you in your confirmation as well. Secondly, We are making this a legal notification , if you chargeback this charge you will incur all cost associated with it. Meaning and not limited to Loss of business , You claimed that you will defame the business all over the internet. If such of what you described happens , We will personally challenge you legally ! for loss of business, Loss of Time, defamation and hours involved to rectify.
