The owners John and Ray were absolutely fantastic to work with, they were extremely detailed and attentive, which was super helpful since we live in a different state. They were never annoyed with our questions and provided great details, not to mention their package was very competitive given it comes with the food (available for upgrade) and an awesome DJ! We ended up booking our photographer, videographer and the photobooth from the DJ's company and they had the special pricing for castle unicorn as well! It was raining on our wedding day which was not how I would've preferred, but John and Ray immediately switched to the indoor plan B and all of our guests ended up having a blast, and everyone thought the misty view made the ceremony even dreamier! One of our guests was in a wheelchair at the time and called for assistance and the owners arranged it for her right away. If you want a hassle free wedding with a complete package and a super attentive venue to work with, I recommend castle unicorn 200%!

It's an easy to access location in northwest Omaha at 132nd & Fort and has a large parking lot. The venue is available to book for events such as weddings, family reuinions, corporate conferences, etc. According to their website they have a large and a small banquet room which together can accomodate 525-600 people. I had opportunity to visit at the recent Festa Italiana which the AIHS hosts every year as their major fundraiser. It was spacious, clean, modern, attractive and I really appreciated the large, clean women's restrooms. I did not see the kitchen but I've heard from a good source (one of the members of the AIHS) that's it's wonderful and since they used it to cook all that food for the Festa, they would know!

The building itself is clean and has a neat design and look both inside and out. I could see why this ranks highly as a venue. The lunch buffet is fairly popular and seems to have a regular crowd. They serve Italian and American fare for the same price as Golden Corral. The ingredients seemed decent, the food looks good, but the taste. Oh the taste! Where have you gone! The service is OK, though me and my buddies had weird experiences with one of their bus boys (not really a boy, more like a 60 year man). It was off-putting to say the least. It gets a big, fat Meh from me, at least for the lunch buffet.

I really liked that there were two separate spaces on this floor, so there was a room where people were dancing to loud music, and another room that was quiet, spacious, and well-lit where people could eat and have conversations. I really appreciated that and it definitely added to my enjoyment of the event. The room where we ate was rather plain (still really nice). The other room was unique and beautiful, and has a patio. A downside is that there is a separate event space downstairs, and if something loud is going on down there you might hear it (and feel the floor vibrate). So that could be really problematic for some events. I also have a complaint about the bathroom. It is quite narrow and cramped. The ladies' room has 5 stalls, which honestly is not enough for a large event, especially since there are only a couple sinks and not a space for a larger mirror. Also - a HUGE peeve of mine - the doors of most of the stalls hang in a closed position, so to see if they are occupied you have to bend over to check if feet are there, in this very narrow space. It's not cool at all, and it's really annoying because the latches are designed in such a way that with a small amount of extra thought put in, they could indicate if the stall is occupied or empty. The building overall has been renovated so nicely and someone really dropped the ball on this aspect. It is a really lovely space, the event was enjoyable. I DEFINITELY appreciated not having to yell to have a conversation; this makes the venue a great place and accessible to groups that include guests who don't want to spend an entire event in a loud room.

The contract includes the reception and caterer, and the venue itself was beautiful. Unfortunately, the caterer (Mangia Italiana) really let us down, and they are the main reason I'm giving this a one-star review. The food was bad: the pasta was overcooked, the salad was terrible, and the dinner rolls were hard. The servers also had attitudes. Much of the food was left uneaten by the guests. While guests were still eating, the servers had already started clearing tables, making it feel like people were being rushed to finish food that wasn't even edible. I promised my daughter I wouldn't say anything, but we recently ate at Mangia Italiana, and it was another disappointment.

There were enough tables so seating wasn't an issue. Everything was clean. The bar had a good selection and the bartenders were really nice. I believe the family catered in Primo's and the food was really good. All in all, the venue was a great place to hold a Celebration of Life.

Don't do it! We signed our event booking contract for our wedding reception back in November and…read moreanticipated working with the team shortly after to begin planning and designing our special event. We didn't hear from anyone for months. Nothing like adding stress to a bride and groom's wedding! Towards the end of December, we finally pulled the plug and reached back out. Due to personal family situations and the lack of effort or work from House of R - we asked for a refund. After a couple weeks of silence and follow ups, we finally heard back from the team with a confirmation they would issue a refund and stated we should receive within 3-5 business days. The refund NEVER came. Many follow ups, emails, text later - GHOSTED. Thank Goodness our credit card company had out back and was able to dispute the deposit and we got our money back. However, it took 4 months to get to this point. So disappointed. We loved the space and photos of previous work done - but the terrible customer service, zero work done, and lack of follow through with this venue speaks for itself. You've been warned - Just don't waste your time here!

I was unaware of this place in Countryside Village until my aunt just had a Beatles-themed birthday…read moreparty for her 64th ("When I'm 64" - get it?). When they say they produce "epic event experiences" they are not kidding - this was a fantastic party! So much thought went into the planning and detail from the décor to the lighting to the food ... there were various Beatles buttons on the tables, drink coasters with song titles, 3 kinds of cake, a bar, charcuterie board, little meat sliders, cardboard cutouts for photo ops, a "phone" to record a message - the list goes on and on. Even the bathroom was decorated and playing Beatles music. The McGuigan Brothers even showed up to play about 90 minutes of Beatles covers (a la their well known Interactive Beatles experience show). The birthday girl had a blast as did her family and friends. Many of us hadn't seen each other in the past couple years and several people even flew into town for the party. This was a great place to host this type of event. I was dropping hints to my spouse that a Bowie themed gathering would be pretty cool someday!!

The Scottish Rite members did the greeting at our wedding and were very hospitable throughout the process! Pros: -Outside vendors!!! You can use almost anyone you want for all rentals, catering, bar, etc. Great way to save money on a wedding! -GORGEOUS historical space. Just tour and see. -3rd floor THEATER!!! I would have loved to do more with the theater... -Wood floors! (excellent for the dance floor!) -Entrance is a terrace and has trees and greenery. Very nice! Cons: -Lighting. It was a little dark. We had up-lighting in partnership with our DJ and that helped a lot! -Bar in separate room... some DJ's announcements couldn't be heard in the bar. Some guests ended up spending a lot of time there. Although, they would have probably been awkwardly sitting at their tables so maybe this is actually a plus? I absolutely loved our Reception at the Scottish Rite! :)

I turned bright red when I had to ask them if this was where the peepshow was (they laughed and said yes). The theatre itself is beautiful and small. Not a bad seat in the place. We looked around at the relics downstairs for a bit afterward.
