Every time we go on vacation, all year round we know we can count on Truckee-Tahoe Pet Lodge! From the start Gunnar has loved staying at the Lodge! He gets super excited the second we get off the freeway, he drags us in, because he knows exactly where we are! When we pick him up we have one seriously tired pup on our hands! He sleeps the whole 3 hour car ride home and even for a day or two after we get home! We have had him stay at the lodge for varying lengths of time ranging from just an over night stay to up to 2 weeks! And every single time he is a happy boy when we pick him up and completely worn out! He has stayed a couple OTHER places before, places closer to home, and we had trouble with a few things... his high energy being too much to handle as well as him not taking kindly to the owners (never trust anyone a dog doesn't trust, they have great instincts, and I know that now ) ....BUT NOT WITH the Truckee-Tahoe Pet Lodge! This place loves our high energy boy and greets us with a smile every time we come through the door! The staff is super educated, loving and very attentive! There was one time we dropped him off and told them he wasn't feeling well... they kept a close watch on him and was on the phone with us giving us updates on his status and even gave recommendations for a vet visit (well advised, as he was very sick and losing weight quickly). By ALL MEANS, I would TRULY rather drive 3 hours away from home, to drop him off here, and fly out of Reno, for any vacation we go on RATHER THAN leave him ANYWHERE else! The dogs are taken hiking and playing in the snow off leash. Our Maggie was returned to us happy and exhausted. We were so pleased that she could be off enjoying herself instead of being stuck in the car while we had fun. Alissa is sweet, caring and obviously loves dogs. Maggie couldn't wait to go with her. Well, she emails me that I didn't complete the additional information and to give her a call. I had a gap in my schedule to call... so I called and her tone is not friendly, she does not answer on behalf of the business so I awkwardly share that I am following up on her email to discuss my service but because I need this done in March she tells me it's faraway so she will call me tomorrow....I'm perplexed with why you would have me call you to just tell me that you'll discuss tomorrow...she reluctantly says OK we can talk about it now. And another comment about how she didn't think I would call so soon. I am not feeling the interaction and let her know to disregard my request because I don't want to proceed with her...and what do you know...she hangs up on me. Minutes later I receive a text that she was on another call and didn't mean to upset me. Uhm, ok? So why answer my call...and just hanging up on me, why not share that you have a call on another line?? Super unprofessional.

I called later about boarding. They really push for you to just fill out a form. They will not give any kind of estimate. I understand that circumstances will vary, but a price range would be good. I had a contractor at my home once looking out my window and commenting "all you rich people up here." He way overcharged me and we aren't all rich. Not saying she would do this, I just like to be quoted a price range. She seems to take care of her employees and has a decent business plan. Costs to meet with them, as it should. Where she lost me was asking how long the dogs could be left alone. Well, several hours I suppose. She kinda beat around the bush then told me that all of her Nannys have full time careers. If I am working outside of the house for a full work day, I take my dogs to day care. An 8-9 hour work day and commute, leaves my dogs alone for at least 9-10 hours. How does the Nanny have time to exercise them? She also said that a Nanny can only work for one week. So, if you are gone for more than one week, you would have 2 nannies. Not a huge deal, but two different people in my home is a question mark. She ended the conversation with "fill out the online form and we will see if we have any nannies available." Didn't sound like she even wanted the business and seemed like she didn't have many nannies. I have 2 easy, older dogs, but they need daily exercise. I don't need someone with my dogs 24/7, but I would not leave them more than 6 hours at a time, so just being fed and having someone overnight, is not what I am looking for. That being said, if this works for others, they may be a great service.

They have taken care of my dogs for a couple of days at a time to weeks at a time. Two of those times were emergency vists because I was unexpectantly admitted to the hospital. They were there for me & my 3 dogs with no questions asked. I am currently on a trip that was to last 5 weeks. But I have had to extend my trip an additional 4 weeks. No problem with tony & Tina. Angel also house sits for me. They get my mail, water my indoor plants & flower pots outside, take out the trash, sweep floors & clean up the yard. Tony even cut my lawn when i was gone for 2 weeks last year. He thought my grass was getting too tall so he grabbed my lawnmower & away he went. They also spend time walking my dogs which they don't need to do because I have a huge fenced in back yard & a doggie door. Each one of my dogs has minor special needs. This is also no issue for Angel. My dogs get brushed more when i am away than when i am home. Tina & Tony go the extra mile & spend "quality" time with your pets. I also leave some cash & a signed check in case the dogs need something while I am gone. Dog treats, vet visits, extended stays on my part, whatever. Angel is good to me & my dogs so I do what I can to make their job smooth. And I have never had to worry that this extra money will be used on anything other than my dogs. Angel does not just take care of your pets. They become friends with your animals & create individual bonds. My dogs absolutely just love Tina & Tony & so do I. It is a wonderful feeling knowing that my dog family & my home will be well taken care of when I am away. Thumbs up, 5 stars, high five, 100% perfect to Angel Pet Sitting. I am extremely happy with their service & recommend them to everyone. Thank you Tina & Tony!

It's over a week later and I'm still changing bloody bandages and monitoring Laika to keep her from chewing on it. Tammy bought some "liquid bandage" from CVS but it hasn't worked -- the wound is just too open. In retrospect, I should have made Tammy take Laika to the vet; they probably would have wanted to stitch it up. Photos are of the same-day and over a week later.

Matty, has been working with Buddy for several years and today she's a different dog. She does outings 2-3 times per week with the most phenomenal humans on the Buddy team. You should see Matty bound down the stairs to shower them with kisses every time. Likewise, she comes back tired and deliriously happy. But, where Buddy has really helped us is in training, both basic commands and due to safety issues, shock collar training. Lilith, the owner of Buddy, was very concerned about Matty's reactivity and strong prey drive which affected her recall. Lilith knew if she ran off after something like a wild animal, bikers, runners, or other dog, Matty could get gravely hurt or worse. I was very against collar training due to my own trauma where my stepfather would torture our family dog for fun with a shock collar at full capacity when I was a child. Just the mention of a shock collar sent me into tears so when Lilith suggested it, I was highly resistant. However, after much thought and a few sketchy situations on the trail with both bears and other dogs, I finally caved. I felt like I couldn't stomach shocking Matty, but the one thing I really couldn't stomach was losing her. Throughout the training process, Lilith was with me and my husband every step of the way, explaining the process as well as having great empathy for my unique trauma. Slowly, I got used to using it and only had to use the vibrate mode and never the shock setting. My husband had to use the shock once and thankfully Matty is so smart, that imprinted on her so quickly, that vibrate was all that was needed for her to run back our sides when called. It was like walking a different dog and because she loves to please us, I think she was relieved to finally understand what we wanted too. She seemed happier instead of confused. Then, one day I was in the forest and Matty was off leash. I saw her tense up, so I looked off into the bushes. A coyote was stalking us. Matty took off running at full speed. I pushed vibrate. No response as her drive was too intense. They were so fast that they made it into a grove of trees about 100 years away by the time I pressed shock. I heard a yelp and then saw the coyote run out of the trees and up the hill, but no Matty. I feared the worst because of the yelp, but then Matty came trotting out of the trees, wagging her tail. The yelp was from the shock collar which startled her enough to call off the chase (which never would have ended until the coyote ran back to their pack). One could say that the collar saved my beloved dog, but really it was Lilith & the Buddy Team who saved Matty. She was the one who could see that Matty's intense drive could lead her to being hurt, but she loved our dog enough to push me to overcome a childhood trauma in order to keep her safe. I'm forever grateful.

On an interpersonal level, she is an absolute nightmare to work with. When we dropped our 14 week-old puppy off with her for the first time, we had a miscommunication where she said she was going to take him inside, and then talk to us. She had meant over text, and then came out to yell at us to leave (I think she wanted clean separation when dropping him off for the first time). She then sent us angry texts for the next half hour (see screenshots). We decided we didn't want to work with her, NOT because we had concerns about the care our dog would receive, but because she was so abrasive. That was 200% confirmed when we went to pick him up. She first yelled at me about being paid before she'd release my dog, which I was fine with. I understand that we had booked a slot even though it had only been an hour (why yell though). She had put a special collar on him, and while she was struggling to get it off my dog was screaming in pain the entire time. During this whole process she called me a "dumb fuck" and an idiot multiple times. I was concerned about my dogs safety and only called her "mam" (well..I lost my temper once we finally got him back). There aren't many dog sitters in Tahoe, and my wife and I were very polite to Victoria through the entire process. She was abrasive throughout, which we chalked up to poor communication. After this experience though, I could never recommend her. She seems to take good care of the dogs, but has a few screws loose. I'd avoid this kennel unless you want to be treated this way.

My dog is so well behaved now, she's a changed dog for the better. Initially I was nervous about dropping off my dog to a stranger but quickly learned that my pup LOVED going to Victoria's and she obviously treats all the pups like they're her own. Since training my dog I now drop her off when I'm out skiing or know it's going to be a long day and she always gives my dog a little refresher on her skills she learned with her previously and my dog is always guaranteed to come home exhausted from playing and learning. Couldn't recommend her more. Life is SO MUCH EASIER with a well trained dog!
