We had Brendan at the Lake Forest location do training (five sessions) for the two-year-old male Aussie Shepherd we adopted several months prior from the Mission Viejo animal shelter. We had a dog, whom we also adopted but from Irvine, that we had euthanized at home in early April so the Aussie wasn't our first dog. Our Aussie is typical of the breed - high-energy, intelligent and focused. Although he's a sweetie at home, he was the opposite on walks. The worst problem was his barking and lunging at other dogs. Brendan not only trained our dog, he also trained us. Our fur baby is MUCH better now while on walks. I told Brendan that he, Brendan, is like Yoda. We are very pleased and grateful. read more

I'd like to know how my dog is doing when he's away from me and not being able to see their live webcams makes me very anxious with leaving my dog here. Amazing place filled with staff who seem like they really enjoy working with animals. Most of them recognize my dog as soon as she walks in the door, and they give recaps of her stays when I come to pick her up. The grooming prices beat literally any other boarding place I've tried, and they do a phenomenal job cleaning my dog up. There have been some minor hiccups in service and communication over the past year that I've taken my dog here, but they've always made things right reasonably and graciously. I really want to like this place because of its convenience -- one of the main reasons I chose it was because they advertise live camera access, which helps me feel at ease when my dog is at daycare/boarding. Unfortunately, the cameras have been down for over two weeks, and even after I called to ask about it, I was told it's a "Wi-Fi issue" that still hasn't been fixed. I understand that technical issues happen, but this is something management really needs to prioritize. Transparency and peace of mind are huge for pet owners, especially when we're away. Without working cameras, it makes me feel uneasy and a bit suspicious about what's actually going on behind the scenes. I hope they resolve this soon, because it makes me uneasy boarding my dog here. Advertising live cameras and not maintaining them isn't acceptable. Management needs to take care of this. Also, the few times that I came in to drop off my dog for daycare it smelled like pee, AND when my dog came back after daycare she smelled like pee, which she usually doesn't. So, it gives me the impression that the facility is not well cleaned, which only adds to my unease. read more

We are new to Paws Pet Resort. We called for a tour, the staff was very welcoming and friendly. After our dogs first full day of doggie day care she came home totally exhausted, the 2nd and 3rd time she practically ran pulling to get inside, eager to see all the other dogs. So far we are very happy with Paws Pet Resort, the price is reasonable, the staff has been very nice and professional, most importantly our Lab seems to be happy while she's there. The only negative thing I would say is they should invest in a better web cam. It's a bit gritty and hard to find your dog. read more

The staff is great but the new changes haven't sat well with us and our dog doesn't seem to come home quite as happy as he used to. After 9 years of exclusively boarding our dog at Paws, we've just been informed our dog is no longer welcome to board there due to his medical condition so definitely call to check if your dog is welcome if they take any medication. read more

We have been using PPR for my dog's boarding & day camp for years. At first it was great, staff paid attention to individual dog's personality and caring. However my recent several visits turned out bad. The purpose to send my dog to day camp was to get socialize but then they not cared but isolated him to a corner said he's too nervous (but he's not!). This time they did it again even I told them upfront my dog had to socialize with the dogs. The staff explained "they didn't know at all as they were not the one who check my dog in"!!!! The funny thing is their camera web page was inaccessible at all! The camera was the main reason we joined PPR's package at first. In the past their camera used to be tilted to a small corner / a wall that made you can't find your dog easily, but these days you absolutely got no way to have the visibility as the website is not working at all! We took our dog to Paws for 12 years. They always complimented us on how wonderful she was. She learned to love Matt and the other guys and gals up front. Her tail wagged when we walked in. Over Memorial Day weekend she had a nice visit. When we picked her up (all bathed and smelling good) we booked a spot for the 4th of July weekend. When we got there to drop her off we were told that they wouldn't take her. Someone should have told us we were told. Twelve hours before our holiday departure were to told "Sorry!" Apparently the company was bought and there were new "rules". Twelve years. Never a complaint. Now she's too old and they don't like her "medications". Well she's 12! Active but old. We loved Paws and recommended them to many friends. The new owners treated us poorly and should be ashamed. Don't go there. If you are blessed with an older dog they are going to kick you out eventually. read more

I found this pet resort a year ago and just recently decided to sign my dog up for a 10 full day pass. Every morning my dog was hesitant to want to go, but I just charged it to him not being adjusted to this new routine. Other than that, everything seemed great days 1-3. Until I came in day 4 (today) to pick him up. I came into the facility, and when I came inside the handler said my dog would be right out.I asked the staff how he did for the day & they gave me the same "great!" per usual. So I patiently waited. As I was waiting, I took the liberty of peeping in the window where they keep the little dogs. To my dismay, I physically saw a handler dragging my 12 pound chihuahua by his collar to bring him out to me. I was livid instantly. It took everything in me not to run to the back and attack the handler for watching him drag my dog. I immediately alerted the staff of the behavior I witnessed and they apologized but the deal was done. I was refunded for the 7 other days I paid for that my dog would NOT be attending. However, it made me wonder what else goes on at this facility, per the handling of my dog, that I'm unaware of. A training definitely needs to be implemented on how to properly get a hold of a pet. There is NO REASON to drag a non threatening 12llb dog by the collar. The lack of care was disheartening, triggered distrust, and was unacceptable. If you want to drop your pet off to be safe & handled with care, do NOT trust this facility to do so. read more

I don't know, I have mixed feelings about this place. We originally switched from Wagly because it's on the way to my boyfriends work, and just more convenient. It always smells so friggin bad in this facility. And with as frequently as the dogs get sick, it makes me wonder if they just don't clean it well and supply clean water. The dogs always have to go to the bathroom really bad when we pick them up, and like clockwork, they both end up with Giardia after boarding and daycare often. It gets old having to deal with cleaning up explosive diarrhea and vet visits so often. I think we'll switch soon. Too bad. I like the prices. read more

Since my Golden Retriever pup got all his shots, I've been eager to get him as much activity into his schedule as possible, while also giving me a breather from him when I need it! A friend suggested Paws Pet Resorts for their drop-in daycare service. I decided to try it since the first day was free for new clients. That was a month ago... since then, I've made a point to to utilize doggy daycare once a week. I feel like the staff there really care about the dogs and they seem to always remember the dogs by name as soon as they come in (even mine!). My pup is always excited and wags his tail when we get here, I know that's a good sign. I like that I can see him on the doggy cam and I think the prices are so very reasonable. I also love that I don't have to book reservations in advance for daycare, so convenient! I know everyone can have both good and bad experiences with any service/business, but I'm happy to say that I always feel comfortable leaving my pup here! read more

I wish that I could provide a zero star rating for this establishment but unfortunately, there isn't such a rating. This place looked awesome online however, we were VERY disappointed with the lack of service provided for the hefty price tag that we paid. First of all, the customer service was horrible. The employees behind the desk looked like they had no desire to want to work there. The greeting we received when we entered the building for the first time was horrific and lacked energy. Secondly, this place was literally filthy!! When we walked into the door, the entire front lobby smelled like urine that had never been cleaned up. We picked up our dog after 5 days and he smelled like a combination of fecal matter, urine and vomit combined. His entire belly and paws were coated in literal brown shit. No boarding facility has ever allowed their dogs to be treated in such squalor. Even though we picked him up a few days early, there was no urgency to bathe him before we picked him up even after a full day notice. I realize now why our dog needed updated vaccines as this place was bottom of the barrel filth. As customers, we had to jump through channels with our vet to get him vaxxed in time for our trip as PAWS wouldn't allow him into the facility unless everything was updated. It also took forever for them to follow up with the vet to obtain the updated vaccine information. Lastly, it was nice to be able to see our dog on camera and how he interacted with the other dogs but the employees never called to let us know that our dog was having a hard time eating. We had to call and check in on him and if we hadn't called, we would have never known that he wasn't eating. He lost over a pound in weight staying there for just five days which was a lot for his size! He was also very sick with bacterial diarrhea for over a week which was caused by an uncleanly facility. I highly recommend a personal dog sitter or another cleaner establishment. read more

We just picked up our little guy yesterday from Paws and when we saw him for the first time he had a sore on his butt. Not sure what it was from. It looked like a rug burn which made no sense unless he was dragged out of somewhere. This isn't the most concerning. He was at the the Lake Forest facility from Sept 22 to 25th and when we dropped him off was 11.8lbs when we picked him up on the 25th we visibly noticed that he seemed so much leaner. It's the 26th and I have been up all night long with him. This is really strange behavior because he normally sleeps all night long other than taking a potty break in the bathroom randomly. I was curious and weighed him and as of this morning he is 9.8lb. He lost 2lbs in 3-4 days. We feed our little guy "Just For Dog Food" and each box of it is 12oz. We left detailed instructions of how much and what times to feed him. When we left the dish to put some extra food in from the boxes were clean as a whistle and we were not given any of our food boxes of food back. I am unsure if he was just not feed from the 22 to 25th or what happened - even if he was fed a box a day - half in the morning and half at night - then played a ton - he should have either stayed the same or gain a little weight. He shouldn't have lost 2lbs. I am extremely upset by this and have lost all trust in this facility. I hate the thought of him not being taken care of while we were away from such a short stint of time. read more
