Not sure what is going on with this place, but I'm not bringing our dog here again. Our Shit Tzu has been getting his haircut at Paws and Claws for years. The last 2 appointments have been a disaster. It used to take them a couple of hours to wash and cut his hair, yet the last 2 times he's been ready in under an hour. He still has a slight dog odor, which makes me think they are not throughly washing him. They are not property trimming his ears, chin or tail anymore. A few months back they had not trimmed his ears or chin hairs at all, and we had to do it at home. The last appointment, about a week ago, he came out with a tail that had been cut too short on the top and not trimmed on the side, ears that had barely been trimmed, and were also lopsided. We called them, let a voicemail, and received no response. $65 wasted for both appointments. read more

I am so glad I tired this place! They did a great job and were so sweet to my 8 year old Pomeranian! He gets nervous at new places and was shaking like a leaf when I was dropping him off. The woman, I didn't get her name but it seemed like she was the owner, told me to put him up on her counter and she pet him and gave him some treats until he calmed down and his tail started wagging. When I picked him up, he was happy as a clam and looking SO HANDSOME. (I know I'm biased, but I provided photographic proof - you be the judge ;)) I must admit, I went way too long in between grooming for him and his undercoat was HEAVY. She got it all cleaned out and he's light as a feather and fluffy and clean as anything now. Pomeranians can be tough to trim if you're not good with scissors, and clearly she knows what she's doing here. Super happy. Great spot! Highly recommend! Will be going back. read more

I thought long and hard about not writing this review but I simply have to. I've taken my cat in twice and neither time have I been even remotely impressed. I thought she did a pretty bad job the first time but she did an even worse job yesterday. I only went a second time because I still don't really know where else to go for a cat groom. But I will never come here again. She charged me $65 for a 15 to 20 minute job, and all she did was shave him horribly unevenly and clip his nails. No bath. Look at how uneven and butchered his haircut is, especially around the neck. And it wasn't until later when I got home that I realized that she didn't even brush off the already cut off fur from around his hind quarters and tail, so when he got out of his carrier and shook, all of these chunks of fur went everywhere. I mean seriously? Is this how she wants to represent the quality of her work? She should be embarrassed. read more

Used to bring my cat here but don't think I would bring any other cats here in the future. I feel like they favored dogs over cats. People would drop their dog off but I would want to stay with my cat since I traveled about 30 min. To go to this shop. Feel like they were annoyed at me wanting to stay while she was being worked on. Although, if she has an appt for 2pm wouldn't her being worked on at that time be a reasonable assumption? One woman seemed a little kinder than the other. read more

We took our 7 y/o rescue kitty Elliot to have his claws trimmed. He is neither a fan of having his paws touched or being held. In less time than it took us to get him into his carrier to bring to the shop, he nails were trimmed and he was back in his carrier ready to go home. This was the best $10 I ever spent. We will definitely be back. Second visit today. If possible, even quicker and easier than the first. I LOVE these ladies! read more

Paws and Claws did a nice job with my dog. It was our first time trying Paws and Claws since we had a bad experience with another groomer. We like to get him shaved down for the summer because he goes running and overheats. Glenna worked on him this time, and she seemed very sweet with my dog. She did what I asked her to do-- shave him down, trim his ears, arm feathers, and tail. He's a little shorter than we would have liked (he's pink underneath and you can see his pinkness!), so we're a little worried about a sunburn until his fur grows in a little. Thanks Paws and Claws! Phyllis has a relaxed way that quickly was recognized by my Aussie Labradoodle. The pup is 5 months, soon to be spayed so she washed and groomed her to be ready for the surgery. Always took my Cocker Spaniels to her. Thanks for caring for my new dog. read more

I took my cat here to be groomed and they did a great job on her. I have taken her to other places that needed 2-3 people to hold her down but the groomer here handled her very well and she looked awesome when she was finished. The groomer was very experienced and did wonderful job on my kitty. I will def go back. (It is a bit more expensive than the place on Linden St but the groomers are far more experienced and know how to handle the animals) read more

Phyllis is amazing. Both her and the other woman (Glenna, I believe) were very friendly and reassuring. My rescue Persian cat has FLUTD, a urinary condition where she gets painful (and expensive) flare-ups that can be caused by stressful situations. Sweet Aslyn hat mats on her belly and her coat was just too much for me to handle. I knew it had to be shaved. I called and spoke to Phyllis who was familiar with FLUTD and assured me she would be gentle, calm, and quick with my kitty. She suggested I bring her in when there were no dogs being groomed to lower the stress level and was able to make an appointment for the very next day! Grooming day arrived and Aslyn and I went to Paws and Claws. I didn't have to wait at all and was able to stay and watch Phyllis do the grooming. Okay, I'm telling you the sweetest thing in the world until I try to get near her with a brush, clippers, nail clippers, etc. and then she is the devil! I warned Phyllis and she casually told me that it was a mama thing and she'd be just fine. Sure enough, she pulled Aslyn out of her carrier and gave her a nice rubbing under the chin and won Aslyn's heart. I couldn't believe that my cat just sat there, perfectly still, allowing Phyllis to groom her. Phyllis was so knowledgeable and knew exactly how to maneuver my cat to get the spots she needed. I also really liked that she talked to me and said sweet things to my cat and scratched and pet her throughout the whole grooming. The other lady even came by and gave Aslyn some loving. There were a couple of dogs in kennels around the grooming area, but if any of them made noise they were told "No barking when there's a cat on the table!" and silenced quickly. This place is a gem. They're wonderful. I will be bringing my kitty back there. Plus the grooming was reasonably priced, allowing me to tip well, and she did an adorable style. read more

Paws and Claws did an awful job grooming my dog. The fur around his paws was hacked and looked terrible. They shaved his head instead of trimming it with scissors (as it should have been trimmed). When we got into the car, I found a tick in a prominent location that hadn't been removed. A perfunctory once-over should have caught this. Further, the entire grooming job took over four hours, and we had to wait an hour longer than the expected finish time. I will not be bringing my precious dog to Paws and Claws again. It is hard for me to look at my once-handsome dog. It doesn't help that he smells like cheap whore. read more

I was so impressed with the ladies at Paws and Claws! I have a toy poodle, who is so hard to groom I would have to pay hundreds of dollars to have him put to sleep and then shaved. He normally attacks groomers and has been turned away from a couple places before, so I had my doubts. But man was I impressed! They not only got me a next day appointment, but they where super friendly and were actually able to cut his hair!!! He looks great and they where so nice to my little guy! Plus it was only $60! I have been using Paws and Claws for almost 20 years. They have groomed two "generations" of my dogs (7 dogs over the years) and even one cat. Phyllis and Glenna are kind to my animals which is extremely important to me. My babies go in looking scraggly and come out beautiful (not to mention smelling much better). I highly recommend these gals. They are not tech savvy and don't have a website but don't let that deter you. It's not a chain, it's not fancy, it's just excellent grooming at a reasonable price. Phyllis at Paws and Claws is an amazing gentle woman. She has been my dogs groomer for many years and has always done an amazing job with her. I have always been impressed with how nice and soft and sweet smelling my little girl is when she has her spa day with Phyllis! My dog is now 18 years old and her spa days are limited to just nail clippings and trimming of her hair and Phyllis always greets her with a hi and says Auntie will take care of her girl, she has great compassion and love of animals. I have and will continue to tell people about Paws and Claws. I am grateful I found them when I adopted my dog many years ago. When we moved to town we took our sweet little Shih Tzu to Petco for a groom. Long story short, it was awful. I gave them one more chance and that hack job was worse than the one before. We decided to try P and C and we are hooked! Our little baby looks like his sweet self with a breed specific haircut when he leaves and isn't in panic mode when we pick him up. They even complimented him on his behavior. :) Definitely give them a try!! You wont be disappointed! read more

I brought my cousins cat in for a Lion's cut. My cousin had been in the hospital for a while and her long haired cat became somewhat matted. They took her and shaved her down and got all the matted hair off of her. They treated her like she was their cat. The cat exhibited no stress at all. STAY AWAY!! I just left this place nearly in tears. I brought my 2 yorkies here for a long overdue grooming after after an out-of-state move. I pop in a few minutes early to see if they wanted to take them both or one at a time. The owner, was yelling at the dogs in her cages to "SHUTTT UPP" while they were whining. Of course they're whining and crying that's what caged dogs in an exciting environment do. I felt so bad for the owners that had no idea their dogs were being treated this way. Against better judgement, I gave them my girl and just wanted a cut and bath. My dogs are only 7 pounds. Since I could basically see the dogs I felt ok about having them done here as long as I could see them. She tells me they don't allow owners to wait. Then raised the price "because of their hair length." Hmm it's a simple shave down... Their hair length shouldn't matter, they're yorkies, and my old groomer never had this issue. She clearly didn't want me waiting for the dogs. I wonder why. I told her I didn't like the way she was yelling at her customers dogs like a pig and I took my baby girl back. This was the universe telling me to STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more

This place is amazing ! I just had my Pomeranian here today for the first time and I'm so happy with how beautiful he looks ! They did a great job ! Let me just add that my dog hates getting a bath, he is 4 pounds of terror (lol) he will try to bite and fight you to the very end ! But these ladies were so good with him ! I put a little muzzle on him because I didn't want them to get bit, but he was surprisingly calm with them and they ended up taking it off. I could not be more pleased ! read more

I took my very matted long haired cat here today. He is incredibly difficult to handle but Phyllis had him under control instantly and did a beautiful job. She is really skilled and appears to really like animals. Prices are reasonable, the shop is unpretentious and the animals look comfortable. As I told Phyllis after seeing her groom my hell-raiser of a cat with amazing aplomb - she's a LION TAMER!!!! Highly recommend. read more

Run away from this place!!! Our dog is the most evenly tempered animal, and after I took him there, he came out with a limp that he didn't have when I took him there. When I took him in, I noticed that both women were having their lunch with two dogs wet and shivering on tables, one of the women was telling the dogs to shut up. I SHOULD HAVE RUN AWAY!!! One of my cats is really, really difficult. She has been refused service at 2 pet shop grooming shops. I came in to Paws & Claws and told Phyllis about her. She assured me that she would be able to handle my difficult cat so I made an appt for the next day to have both cats nails trimmed & fur mats shaved off the difficult cat. I got them to the shop and Phyllis had both cats done in less than 20 minutes, no problem!! I am so happy with Phyllis & Paws & Claws! We will be back again and again! Thank you Phyllis! read more

These ladies are the best, they trim all three of our cats claws and I always amazed and how quick and wonderful they are with the cats.

Never again! Today was our 2d cat's shaving with them and she cut cat's belly second time! He is bleeding now...If I saw it there I even would not pay them! + I do not like the big woman there , she is so rude, I always ask her politely to cut more cat's head and to make a lion tail, today she gave me such a horrible look that I felt really uncomfortable! AND (!) she made the cat's tail absolutely bald!!!! AND she cut cat's whiskers!!!! I'm speechless...Another woman seems much more intelligent and nicer with pets but she cuts the dogs only.... read more
