He would not talk much about his program over the phone with my wife and said he had to come to our house to explain how it works. Long story short, he ended up taking our dog on a very short walk and we were so impressed by our dog's behavior while on the walk, we decided to pay Rick's fee up front which he represented to us would be for one year of training at about one hour per session per week. The total averaged about $50 per hour. Of the seven sessions we hung in there for and used his services, only two came close to being a full hour. Most were 15 to 30 minutes in duration. He kept telling us that was all our dog needed or could handle. That is one reason we became unhappy. The other reason we became disenchanted with Mr. Walkley is that he always chose and notified us by text when the next session would be. He did not let us first check our calendar. He did not even suggest the next training date options at the end of a session before leaving. He simply left, selected a date, and notified us as to when he would be available. If the date he selected was not good for us, it was 1-3 days later before we heard from him regarding another date he had selected. My wife requested on more than one occasion that he pick a same day/same time every week so we could plan. We advised him that there was only one day of the week that typically did not work for us and he often selected that day for training our dog. So, after seven training sessions over more than a six-month period of time, we called it quits and asked for a prorated refund of our money. He then explained to us that the upfront fee we paid was a discounted amount for our single payment and if we cancelled early, his normal fee of $195 per session would apply and he could only give us a credit toward future training. This condition was never explained to us. He did eventually provide some waiver of liability forms that alluded to the discount but did not disclose the numbers. Once we convinced him that we no longer felt comfortable dealing with him and that we were prepared to file suit, he offered his original reduced refund in cash in exchange for signing a "General Release Agreement" which would prevent us from posting any negative reviews. We refused to agree with that. It seems likely that is why he has no negative reviews on the internet. Rick Walkley talks the talk but he doesn't walk the walk. He expects to set the date and time of each session without first checking with you, he won't set weekly appointments, and he spends only a few minutes training your dog. Beyond that, he wants you to do the training but provides very little guidance and instruction for you. Let's face it, how much can he do in 15-20 minutes average training time for either the dog or the owner. It's your choice but if you decide to use Focus Dog Training be sure that you get everything in writing before paying your money.

Our pet's belongings (blankets and bed) are in the wash (hot temp) as I type this because they smelled horrible. Our pet didn't smell that great either. Bob gave me the tools to overcome this bump in the road and for that I was very grateful. It just was not happening before I hired him. We were and are in training with someone else to pass the AKC CGC test to become a Therapy Dog and he just wasn't getting it. I felt that this $350 was money well spent. When it came time to test, I got nervous so I called Bob again to help me with the portion of the test that was to have my dog have no reaction to another dog. There are certain tasks your dog has to pass and this is one of them. It is more than just walking by another dog. He was to take the test the next day but I was nervous to take the test in case he was to fail this portion. He suggested we meet in front of Petsmart. I was hesitant to stand in front of a store asking customers for help, but hey he is the trainer. I don't know if Bob is unfamiliar with the CGC test as he kept asking me what was expected. Maybe, he just wanted to visit. I kept wondering, "Why is he asking me? He is the professional, not me." After 3 customer's dogs pass by he said, "This lesson was a bust. I'm not going to charge you. You can use me for something else."He encouraged me to take the test anyway. Little did I know that the encouragement would cost $350. My dog did pass the test today, but it is not because of yesterday. My dog and I work every single day together. I absolutely use the tools I was taught by Bob for heeling. My dog is also still in obedience school with another trainer and doesn't need anything Bob has to offer. So, I asked for a refund and he said no. What he did for my dog that day was just look for dogs from customers, pace around the sidewalk and we pretty much just visited. Bob is quite an entertaining guy. This is a picture of Bob's response when I asked for a refund. My response was "Merry Christmas. Keep the money. God Bless." I guess he needs it more than I. Bob knows that standing in front of Petsmart talking and hitting up a few customers is not what got my dog to pass the test. It was hard work for the last 6 months and we have more to go. He still looked cute when we picked him up. They also did good with our family's late senior dog. But my sister's puppy has a lot of special needs. Her care was handled quite poorly and looked nothing like herself. Honestly, after seeing the owner's response to her review, I'm not sure this place can accommodate all kinds of dogs. They seem pretty firm on the one sort of cut they offer, if you have specific expectations it might be difficult for them to meet. "Shaving that coat to reduce shedding or supposedly to keep the dog cool also eliminates that insulating layer of fur, makes the dog susceptible to heat stroke, and can result in improper hair growth and the possibility of follicle damage. I already told yall my dog has skin issues and when I brought her in November I also told yall she was having a hard time growing fur. Shes been whining and scratching more since her grooming. Zeus was desperate to reach me and Darryl Was choking him hard to be still. He pissed me off, but I kept my composure barely! I have no idea where he studies canine behavior but much of it is incorrect. He told me when my female German Shepherd puts he paws on my right leg, she is humping me and trying to dominate me.. She is not. If he paid attention, which he does not, she was looking up to me in total love and beautiful eyes. She is always submissive to me. Another thing he said, because I let me dogs sleep with me, I let them dominate me (dominating position) . I laughed within myself and openly disagreed. Dogs sleep with their human family because they want to protect them, be close with them and love. Where this guy gets his information beats me. He said he will send me an amazon link where he bought the collars, he did not. I have asked him for information about collars and muzzles and he is NOT interested to help. He is NOT at all engaging and probably did little training. Since I got my German Shepherds back, my female still lunges at people walking by and that was the first emphasis. Avoid at all cost. Most K9 trainers are junk and ripoff artist. He trained my dog about an hour each one (at best) and charges 1000 a week for both. I brought all the food (I had to ping him several times) and spend $205.00 for 2 large crates to put my German Shepherds in, not those small, prison crates he had and Gwen A. experienced too. The website gave me the impression that several people would be training. After about two and one half weeks he told me he couldn't help my dog. When I dropped him off he was put in a crate in which he could hardly move around. Darryl told me he would put him in a larger one. When I went to pick him up I wanted to cry he look awful and he has feces on him. He was also very dehydrated and very little of his dog food had been eaten. I think he was left in a too little crate the whole time and not given any water or food. He didn't have his original leash and Darryl said he would mail it to my home. I sent an email and text inquiring about a refund and no response to either and that was not a surprise.

I understand if they are being aggressive, but most of the times I've observed it at other doggy day care, they are playing. the location seems hard to get to as you pass it on 99 ((Grand parkway) and Kuykendahl, however it's REALLY easy to get in and out. Their prices are comparable to other similar facilities. Give them a visiT, I know you'll enjoy it as will your pup!
