Great Indian restaurant in Hyannis. Veggie appetizer platter was excellent with samosas and fried veggie patties. Saag paneer was excellent and flavorful, get medium spicy if you like it more flavorful. Chicken tikka masala was also very good. Garlic Naan was average and a bit dry and lacking garlic flavor. The service was good and attentive. However we were a little displeased about the fact that they had written cocktails on their menu but did not have any. Also we had asked for medium spicy, however it seemed we were served mild spicy food. The tandori rotis too seemed to be a little burnt. However still liked overall food experience :) read more

Two of us went to The Pavilion on a dreary midweek winter night. It was early- 6pm or so. As such, there were no other patrons in the restaurant but we were hungry and sick of the standard Cape Cod menu offerings, so we went and took a seat. The decor is basic and uninspired. The woman who waited on us was very friendly, polite and enthusiastic. The food was fantastic and plentiful with two dishes enough for two full meals and some leftovers for later in the evening. The two of us split mutter paneer, chicken Tikka masala, and naan. All of the food was flavorful and well done. Very tasty. We'll be back! read more

Agree with the previous Yelper completely. Standard Indian fare and hits the spot. When we went in there, they didn't give us the little crispy flatbread that they usually serve at the beginning of the meal which was a bummer. Maybe you have to ask for it? Not sure. I cannot comment on the food as I did not stay long enough to get it! What I do know is that I sat down and found a long black hair right across the table top and some leftover rice stuck in between the fork in front of me. I did not order any rice I just sat down a few minutes and was completely grossed out by the table setting! Then I scrolled through some yelp reviews to find out that other people found hair in their food and decided that I had to leave before I ordered anything. When the waitress came back for my order I told her I was a little nauseous and had to leave. This actually wasn't even really a lie considering how I felt at that moment. I had lunch here with my mother, and we were the only patrons in the restaurant. Naturally, the service was attentive. The lunch menu was pretty standard, and I'd characterize their notion of "medium" spice as "mild". Even so, the food was delicious. Exotic by Cape Cod standards. I have brought my family to many Indian restaurants in and around Massachusetts. This is one of the worst. The first time I brought my wife and kids, the service and food were both mediocre. I have been craving Indian food quite a bit lately and was going to take a trip to Hyannis to do some record shopping and get Indian take out. I called in advance to see how long it would take to have 4 entrees ready, figuring that if it was a while, I would place an order before arriving on the Cape from the South Shore. I was told they close at 2:00 (it was 1:45 at the time) and that I could place the order and pick it up in 15 or 20 minutes. I said I couldn't get there by then and the guy's response was a curt "ok" and then he hung up. I have seen many negative reviews of this place online and just about all of them were due to employee rudeness. Well, add this to the list. What kind of customer service is that? What kind of people skills? I mean, if a customer says he can't get there in time, you say something like "I'm sorry- maybe some other time" or "OK, that's unfortunate." What you don't do is hang up on the person. If you like Indian food, try somewhere else. Kashmir in Boston and Punjab Cafe in Quincy are both excellent. If you have to get it on the Cape, try the place in East Falmouth or Provincetown. Be forewarned if you choose to go to this place (which, by the way, I will not even attempt to do again- they lost a customer in me today with the poor phone etiquette), the food is mediocre, the prices aren't good enough to warrant eating mediocre food, and the staff is in need of lessons in how to be civil. read more

I'm a vegetarian and every time I move to new places I hunt down restaurants I know I'll be able to eat at and enjoy. Ever since moving to Cape last May I have frequently ordered pick up/to-goes from Pavilion Indian and I've never been disappointed. I'm fairly sure this is a family run restaurant and even when going in to sit down and eat with a friend, I end up wanting to take more food home. It has always been a lovely experience. read more

Our family had been walking around town yesterday for awhile and most places were still closed for the winter. We stopped here to rest and grab some chai and samosas. We are from SF Bay Area and are used to the concept of ordering a small bite to eat at Indian restaurants. The lady here would not permit such a thing. She said we must spend $8 per person. We had our two kids who only eat naans so that wasn't going to happen. We got up and left and then checked the menu. It said $6 minimum order per person. Whichever way, $8 or$6, this was clearly not the hospitable place to stop in downtown Hyannis. I thought it was interesting she'd rather lose business than make a few bucks. Got a late night meal here on a Saturday. Even though we were the last table there, our server was really kind and gracious. The food was amazing! Unprofessional rude aunties will serve you and they mandate 20% tip by default by including that to the bill - Apparently because no one leaves any tip to these suckers! As previously reported, standard Indian fare. Not bad. Not special. Satisfying. I found it a bit expensive. It cost me about $20 for Shahi Paneer Korma with rice and papadum. Went here on a Thursday night in April with a friend who does not eat meat, so she had lots of choices. VJ, owner, waited on us. It's a nice family run business on Main Street in Hyannis. My friend had vegetable samosas (app) and swordfish tikka masala for her entre. I had lamb samosas and lamb biryani (lamb with rice, spices and nuts). We split a potato nan and shared two large Kingfisher beers. We also ordered mango chutney to go with our dishes (yum). All the food was very good. I highly recommend this restaurant. For those of you who have not been here for a while you will enjoy the new digs - they renovated over the past year so everything looks great. Wood bar with granite counter and large screen TV for those who like that. The dishes were very hot and fresh as indicated by another reviewer. And best of all, it is not expensive. Enjoy! read more

The food here is actually not bad even if it is a bit out of place amongst the fried clams, burgers, and ice cream offered at most other Main Street restaurants. They offer standard Indian restaurant fare. While it may not be the best Indian food ever, it is good and satisfies any Indian food cravings you may be having while at the Cape. read more

Went there on Sat. night for a meal, and was thoroughly satisfied. Their vegetarian menu is extensive, the nan bread is perfect, as are the veggie samosas. It took them a little bit to take our order, but after that all requests were handled promptly and with a smile. DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We came in 15 minutes before closing and staff was very inviting and accommodating. And after eating some excellent Indian cuisine in San Francisco and New York, I have to say the Pavilion holds its own. This restaurant has the worst Indian food I can ever find in the US (Hats off to that). Also, the lady who works there behaves with a worst attitude. My wife & I went to the Indian Pavillion last night after reading Yelp reviews. I am pleased to tell you that we did not receive a stone faced reception or slow service. The hostess was more than gracious, and was very attentive to anticipated wants (water, more basmati rice). We found the food to be of excellent quality, as well as nice & hot: mulligatawny soup, garlic naan, chicken tiki masala, & swordfish tiki masala. We had been searching for a light dinner but ended up walking away quite full and very pleased with the entire dining experience! We look forward to returning to the Indian Pavillion when we return to the Cape. Now if we can find a similar quality Thai restaurant!!! read more

The best Indian food within a 50 mile radius. Cape Cod struggles to offer exceptional food experiences and the Indian Pavillion is one of those rare jewels on the Cape. The eggplant dish, Baingan Bhartha, is a masterpiece for the pallet. Inspired with complex layers of spices that are truly sublime. Not my usual goto selection but by taking a chance on something new I can recommend this discovery to you all. It's a work of art prepared by the owner himself. We tried a number of other dishes and they were all excellent. Prices were more than reasonable. Not to be missed! read more

I have to say this is some of the best Indian food I have tried. I live in Boston, a city where Indian food can range from absolutely unpalletable to amazingly delectable. The flavors here are amazing! You can tell they use only the highest quality ingredients. I had the Chicken Tikki Masala. They gave me the choice of mild or spicy! The chicken was all white meat and very lean. I also had the garlic naan which was wonderful. The staff has always been very friendly here. My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary there. The food was delicious, and the service was very good. We've been there many times and also get takeout. Hey you all, lovers of good indian food. I am of N. Indian origin and myself cook daily. My friends even call me a culinary cook. I came to Pavilion Indian Restaurant on Main st today 10/18/13. I did not like the way that lady there greeted me, it seems like as if you are entering their home, no dress no professionalism. Being Indian, I overheard they guy talking in punjabi so i thought i feel at home and ordered what i like in Punjabi, Daal and roti only. They did not entertain me until i asked them for water in the meanwhile. Anyhow, he brought the daal with roti. Worst daal I will ever eat or imagine, no taste, absolutely boiled daal without spices. I had to add salt to make it eatable. Rotis were half cooked. They just dumped food on my table and then they did not show up until I sign for bill. They did not even ask for water. Take home message. Bad choice to go there, non-professionalism, bad food (trust me, i know how indian food taste and should taste like), bad service and customer care. Do not waste your money there, it's not worth it. If you are non-indian, i am sure you are being looted for crap food. Stay away from this place. read more
