Reliable and Excellent Service for Years!…read more Towne & Country Cleaners has been my go-to spot in Newtown for years, and coming back after living in Alaska, I was so glad to find the same incredible service I've always trusted. I recently needed a suit tailored for an upcoming wedding, and they did an amazing job! The tailoring was quick, and the suit turned out perfect--fit like a dream. It's clear they take pride in their work and value their customers. Whether it's for dry cleaning or alterations, Towne & Country Cleaners always delivers top-notch service with a friendly and professional touch. I couldn't recommend them more!

I just encountered a relatively unpleasant experience with Town & Country, but as the facts are…read moreuncertain, I can only fairly address the circumstances and attitudes confronted by this event. Recently I had a sports coat's lining repaired there. When I returned to pick it up, the work was done well, but there was an ink stain on the front of the coat that had not been present when I brought it in. I brought it back to inquire about it, and of course they denied causing it, and further could not fix it. So, bye-bye jacket. It is possible that there was a pen in a pocket somewhere when I brought it to them, and that the pen leaked while in their possession. I cannot dispute that. However, why wasn't this problem pointed out to me when I picked it up and paid the cost of the repair? It was quite obvious when I finally took it out of the plastic to wear it. Regardless of the time the leak occurred (before, during or after the repair), it was certainly there when they finished their work. It would have been more honorable to point this out to me, rather than have me find it once at home. I am a reasonable guy, and I recognize the ownership of the ink and time of leakage is in doubt. Still, it was visible to me, and likely visible to them before the transaction was completed. But, rather than be upfront about it, and explain it was not their fault and only saw the stain at the conclusion of their work, they chose to not inform me, and make me return to them to talk about it. And, of course, they were defensive and unwilling to see any way they could have handled it differently. Not a good business move, as I cannot continue to use their services in good conscience, and I am writing this review to warn off other people who might encounter a problem in the future. These seem to be nice people, but a bit shortsighted. All they had to do was deal with me directly, and as if they were sorry this happened even without any admission of responsibility, and I would have been unhappy, but satisfied with their deportment. As it was, they failed on the human interaction scale, and lost a customer.

NEVER TAKE YOUR LEATHER HERE!!!…read more Not only did they ruin my new Leather jacket, they also are not very helpful in coming to a resolution. We noticed that on the inside of each of the shirts our last name was written in PERMANENT marker. NEVER in my life have I seen a dry cleaner write on clothing! I am so baffled as to why they don't use a tag system like EVERY other dry cleaner in America!!! I am utterly shocked that there are not hundreds of poor reviews about this establishment sighting this same complaint. If they change their article identification system to anything other than ruining clothing with permanent marker, I may consider going back because the quality of the work was actually very good.

After I picked it up, the jacket was stretched out and no longer fit properly. When I tried to discuss the issue, the manager was rude, refused to listen, and made no attempt to resolve the problem or take responsibility. I have cleaned similar down jackets at other dry cleaners in a different state with excellent results. Branded jackets always come with proper care instructions, which were clearly not followed here. Very disappointing experience.

WARNING: Horrible Prom Dress Alterations!!!…read more I took my daughter's one-of-a-kind prom dress to Center Square Cleaners by accident and it was a horrible mistake. I thought CSC was Sarah Dressmaker but they are clearly not and they are inept at formal dress alterations, not to mention, they are egregiously overpriced. FIRST VISIT: I entered CSC thinking it was Sarah Dressmaker. It wasn't until my daughter had her dress on and the safety pins were marking the required alteration that I inquired about the business name. The woman told me Sarah Dressmaker was located behind CSC but assured me that she does many formal gown and prom dress alterations. My daughter's dress had one opaque layer and three layers of sheer tulle that required hemming. Total cost: $175. I was shocked at the price for this alteration but I thought that was the going rate. It wasn't until I called Sarah Dressmaker on the way home and asked her for a price to hem a four layer prom dress...her cost was between $60-100. SECOND VISIT: I returned to CSC one week later to pick up the dress. I wanted to be sure the hem was perfect before I left so I had my daughter try the dress on. I was horrified to see so many jagged, uneven edges that looked like a child cut the dress. The woman took a pair of scissors to the tulle in an attempt to correct the mess. There was also white chalk on the tulle that was never removed. I was told that they would fix the dress if I could leave it overnight. Before leaving, I inquired about the exorbitant cost for what was a extremely sub-par alteration. The owner said her prices are her prices and she doesn't price according to other cleaners. I asked two other cleaners in the area what they would charge for the same alteration and the highest price was $120. I asked the owner if she would reduce the price since I had to come back multiple times but she refused. Instead, she offered to make my daughter a mask using the extra material that was cut from the dress. She said she would only charge me $10 for this mask - this was supposed to be a significantly discount - but she failed to realized that there was a sign hanging in her store advertising custom special masks for $10. THIRD VISIT: I returned the following day to pick up the dress without my daughter. I was told everything was perfect but once I got home I noticed more jagged edges. I will never return to CSC!!!
