I even had minor alterations done same day. What really stood out to me the most (and the reason for me for writing this post) is my experience getting my pants hemmed and then re- hemmed. I came in to get my suit pants hemmed and I thought I had length at where I wanted them. They suggested I try on the pants with my dress shoes but I disregard it and said it was fine. After I picked my pants up and tried them on with my dress shoes, the fit wasn't what I expected... and that was my fault. I went back, with the expectation of paying again, but the lady refused to take my money and fixed the pants on the spot. All this happened over 3 days and I was surprised at how painless it was. I am utterly shocked that there are not hundreds of poor reviews about this establishment sighting this same complaint. I saw pictures on Facebook of Sammie's work basically remaking someone's wedding dress and it was AMAZING so I decided to make an appointment. Sammie was so friendly and professional and pinned everything to make sure I would be ok with the new length of the dress. Additionally, she noticed something in the back of the dress that she could alter to make it look even better on me. When I went to pick up the finished dress, I was completely floored. The dress looked FABULOUS and you wouldn't even be able to tell it had been altered in the first place. The dry cleaning I *have* had done has been impeccable, though, with them trying more than once to remove stains at no extra charge. They are even accommodating with my quirks of asking for no wire hangers or plastic coverings on my cleaning (I bring my own plastic hangers - save the planet, man!). What truly makes Julie's a superstar in my book is the alterations. I've had several items altered here - pants hemmed and waists taken in, and even a few more "unique" projects like adding ruffle trim to the bottom of a dress that had stains that refused to come out, and altering a fancy little girl's dress for Christmas. Ria, the owner, is always up for the challenge, and they do incredible work. I always know when I pick up my items that you would have no idea they'd been altered at all. They're that good! Always friendly, and willing to accommodate rush jobs if necessary, even at their busiest times of the year. They are easily accessible, in the same building as the Wawa at Frankford and Linden, and walkable from my house. I am super picky about alterations, and I won't go anywhere else! When I handed the cashier my receipt, I was informed that my blouses were ready, but not my pants. I was not happy with this. The owner, Ria, approached me and said she didn't have my pants and asked when I needed them. I explained I work in Center City and wouldn't have time to come by before work on Monday. She said she could meet me at the dry cleaners today (Sunday) and provide the pants. My understanding is they don't dry clean dress slacks on premise. She took down my phone number and said she'd call me. Yesterday evening I got a phone call from Ria saying she had 4 pairs of pants ready and was willing to drop them off to me at my doorstep. I didn't know what to say. She drove from her home to get me my pants and hand them to me. The customer service blew me away. Ria said I would get a text message indicating when I could pick up the remaining pairs of pants. I'm sure you could imagine how displeased I could've been walking away from this business, but Ria was quick to turn a negative experience around and make sure I was a happy client. I thought CSC was Sarah Dressmaker but they are clearly not and they are inept at formal dress alterations, not to mention, they are egregiously overpriced. FIRST VISIT: I entered CSC thinking it was Sarah Dressmaker. It wasn't until my daughter had her dress on and the safety pins were marking the required alteration that I inquired about the business name. The woman told me Sarah Dressmaker was located behind CSC but assured me that she does many formal gown and prom dress alterations. My daughter's dress had one opaque layer and three layers of sheer tulle that required hemming. Total cost: $175. I was shocked at the price for this alteration but I thought that was the going rate. It wasn't until I called Sarah Dressmaker on the way home and asked her for a price to hem a four layer prom dress...her cost was between $60-100. SECOND VISIT: I returned to CSC one week later to pick up the dress. I wanted to be sure the hem was perfect before I left so I had my daughter try the dress on. I was horrified to see so many jagged, uneven edges that looked like a child cut the dress. The woman took a pair of scissors to the tulle in an attempt to correct the mess. There was also white chalk on the tulle that was never removed. I was told that they would fix the dress if I could leave it overnight. Before leaving, I inquired about the exorbitant cost for what was a extremely sub-par alteration. The owner said her prices are her prices and she doesn't price according to other cleaners. I asked two other cleaners in the area what they would charge for the same alteration and the highest price was $120. I asked the owner if she would reduce the price since I had to come back multiple times but she refused. Instead, she offered to make my daughter a mask using the extra material that was cut from the dress. She said she would only charge me $10 for this mask - this was supposed to be a significantly discount - but she failed to realized that there was a sign hanging in her store advertising custom special masks for $10. THIRD VISIT: I returned the following day to pick up the dress without my daughter. I was told everything was perfect but once I got home I noticed more jagged edges. I will never return to CSC!!!
