AMAZING! Staff is super amazing, doctor is so knowledgable, kind, easy-going, and really cares! Clean place, great view, front desk is really helpful, and they are so kind! Came in for a check-up and cleaning - they walked me through everything they were doing, super patient, and gave me good advise for my health. Both me and husband go here, we are looking forward to establishing long-term care with this amazing team! read more

Friendly, professional, and knowledgeable! The doctor and his team create an amazing experience at the dentist office. A place usually associated with discomfort, a visit here changes how you feel about going to the dentist. read more

Today was my first visit to Dr. Lake office and I would say: A+! To start with the office is immaculate, bright and interior was modern but not cold. The staff where professional, friendly, and thoughtful. I was asked periodically if I was ok, comfortable or if I had any questions. The first person I met with did a extensive and thorough imaging of my teeth and mouth. She was fun, kind, gentle, clear with everything she was doing and personable. I then met with Dr. Lake who has a great charm and professionalism to his approach. He took the time to go over the xrays, photos etc. What he found concerning and what looked great. He never seemed rushed or detached. He laid out a game plan for my plan of care and I didn't hesitate my willingness to trust the plan. He really is someone special. I work in healthcare and if everyone was like Dr. Lake we would not have anxiety about going to the dentist or doctor. The last stop on my journey was a happy stroke of luck because the hygienist had a cancellation so I was able to get that part done too. He was great, he was informative, thorough, gentle and not once did I have water and saliva all over the place of in any discomfort. I have a cavity and mouth guard appointment very soon and it was easy to make that appointment at the end of the visit. read more

I love the new office and the view, but the team @ Lake's is the best. I feel comfortable and trust them for all my dental needs. The new office bring extra love with all brand new equipment and the extra clean feeling. I wish them all the best. read more

Great job done. Doctor is professional and caring! The office is clean and service is great at the clinic as well.

Sarah and Paul were wonderful! They were both so thoughtful and kind. Made the appointment a great experience. The two ladies at the front desk were also very welcoming and friendly! read more

To be fair, quality of denstistry at this place is great so my negative review isn't about that. I would recommend this place to anyone that lives within walking distance, has a private driver, or no other obligations that might make them late for an appointment. If you're not there early or right on time, they're calling you and you might be able to get in if you're only a few minutes late. Otherwise, cancelled. Along with an air of annoyance that you dared interrupt the schedule of this busy, important place. Hey, it's my responsibility to be on time, so fine. But realistically, if you're a parent, working employee, reliant on public transportation and not privileged enough to fully control time, find a more friendly place. You'll stress yourself out trying to make it work. read more

Dr. Lake is a true professional who pays utmost attention to the details. This is immediately evident upon entering his office: there is coffee available to clients, his staff are always friendly and on top of things ensuring that you are taken care of, and you feel a personal touch at every moment with everyone at his practice. This is a doctor who seeks to work with you to heal before taking invasive action. He believes in taking every possible step to reverse issues and working with you on long-term solutions to avoid what might otherwise be expensive and unnecessary measures. This is a fantastic practice and you won't regret entrusting you oral health to this doctor and his talented staff! read more

Loving our new dentist, Dr. Lake! The staff is great and Dr. Lake is super nice. The office is comfy in a convenient Castro location one block from muni. My last cleaning was with a hygienist who was very thorough. Dr. Lake came in when she was done to do the examination, so I didn't feel like I was just handed off to someone else. I like that. When I had an emergency he fit me in next day before work and was really easy to get ahold of for follow up. My husband has been going to Dr. Lake too and was impressed how fast he was in and out for a pesky filling. Big thumbs up from us! read more

I'm cautiously optimistic, but so far, so good!! I've had some interesting dental experiences, but I really enjoyed my first appointment with Dr. Lake. Yes, it was a full two hours, but it was the most pleasant two hours I've ever spent with a dentist. The office is super modern and relaxed feeling and there was pleasant top-40 music playing in the background. The receptionist, Fabian, instantly introduced himself and offered me water before walking me through the forms I needed to fill out (on an iPad! Hello 2015!) Dr. Lake came out to meet me himself and bring me back, and then he sat and explained how the appointment was going to go. He introduced me to his assistant, who would be doing some x-rays and photos. The assistant was incredibly friendly and proficient with the x-rays and photos, and even conversational along the way. Dr. Lake came back in and walked me through all the x-rays and photos, explaining what he looked for in each, what things were good, and what things were bad. Then he asked what questions I had, and no matter how many I had, sat and answered them all patiently. Even when I was out of questions, he asked me a few times to make sure. Then he introduced me to the hygienist who would be cleaning my teeth. Francha (spelling?) was militant about getting my teeth clean, but in the best way possible. She was leaving no plaque behind! She was like a skilled masseuse though, starting off gentle and then applying more pressure as needed in those tricky spots. Along the way she checked in to make sure I was comfortable and doing ok. Such a sweet little woman! By the end of it, my teeth felt sparkling clean and polished and I walked away with the most thorough goodie bag yet - not just the standard toothbrush and floss but samples of threaders, gum cleaners, mouthwash, gum, and more. I even got hugs on my way out! Like I said, I'm cautiously optimistic. So far, it's "expected" that my insurance will cover everything in the appointment, and I think nailing the initial appointment is table-stakes, but we'll see how things progress. Issues have a way of sneaking their dirty head up when you least expect, but I can tell you that until any of those things happen, Dr. Lake is definitely the best dentist I've been to yet. read more

Fabulous experience - easy to schedule, very welcoming, great care and attention to detail to ensure I had the best experience possible. Thank you so much ! read more

Long & short: the best dentist I have ever had. Dr. Lake and his entire Team are welcoming, caring, and talented professionals. I have had to spend a lot of time in dentists' chairs, and Dr. Lake's is easily the one I have felt most comfortable in. He is talented in his work, warm, transparent, and has great "chair-side manner." Also, as someone that has had to have a lot of invasive work, I can tell you that *hands down* Dr. Lake is the most gentle dentist I have ever had. I don't even feel it when he administers the anesthetic, let alone the work! Highly recommend this practice. read more

Literally the dentist from heaven...This was the first time I had used Yelp to find a dentist so I was so happy that it worked out as well as it did! First of all the girl that works at the front desk was awesome, she knew I wanted an earlier appointment and called me on the day I was supposed to come in and let me know they had an earlier time that worked for my schedule. She also directed me when I got lost going there (whoops) yeah I have a horrible sense of direction! Dr.Lake is by far the best dentist I have ever been to, he explained to me everything he was doing and why ANNDD even helped me find an orthodontist in the city to get my wisdom teeth out finally. If you are new to the city I HIGHLY recommend him Tip: He has another office in the Castro so even if you live over toward that area he is convenient read more

I've been going to Dr. Lake for a few years now and he is excellent. Very good email communication about new changes due to COVID. His staff is kind, knowledgeable, and competent. The office is professional and clean. Even during simple tooth cleanings, Dr. Lake always personally comes to see and check in on me to ensure everything is okay and I get any questions answered. He's also given me helpful advice to avoid problem areas and potential future dental bills down the line. read more

Great customer service; front staff, hygienist and dentist give quality service every time.

I can't believe I actually look FORWARD to going to the dentist. Dr. Lake and team are just so talented, friendly and non-judgemental that there's nothing at all to feel bad about. You leave feeling good that you've done something you need to for your health, but also happy in your heart that you've just spent time around such wonderful people. They operate ON TIME, are very easy to schedule, and have rolled out electronic paperwork this past year. Oh, and the office is convenient (Union Square) AND has a great view. A+! read more

Dr. Lake and his staff are the best. They truly care about you and your well being. Simply the best.

Paul Ryan has a slightly unfortunate naming conflict with our late speaker of house, which is something I always giggled at. However, he is an amazing dentist and I always enjoy our visits. It seems like he knows me personally every time I have a checkup, and makes sure to ask me how I'm doing. The office is clean and gorgeously situated above union square. They do a good job of cleaning my teeth and I've had one cavity filled which wasn't an altogether unpleasant experience. If you're looking for a dentist, can't recommend Paul Ryan enough! read more

I do not write reviews often, but I feel compelled to write one for Dr. Lake and his staff, as I'm moving cross country and incredibly sad about no longer having him as a dentist. I had a lot of dental work as a child, which left me terrified and very uncomfortable going to the dentist. Many years later, Dr Lake is the first time I don't have anxiety going to the dentist. He takes an approach of only doing work if you have to. His office is incredibly clean, comforting, and comfortable, his staff is friendly and courteous (I've never experienced a front office staff like I have in the 4 years I've been seeing Dr. Lake), and he's very personable and approachable. I couldn't recommend Dr. Lake more highly. read more

I always enjoyed my periodic visit at the dentist, but Dr. Lake's practice/office turns it up a notch for me. The entire staff are exceptional in their areas of expertise. Upon arrival, you're immediately welcomed at the reception with a pleasant greeting and a smile that gives you feeling like family meeting each other after a long while. The hygienists are gentle, and comforting. Then, there's Dr. Lake who is being who he is, and great at what he does - taking great care of his patients with a big smile. -Roderick read more

Terrible experience with cavity being filled. Chipped after three days. Horrible front desk manager that lied to me about my coat being in network. I should have not trusted him to tell me info. Paid a lot more than I would have being in network. Didn't discover until insurance sent bill. Only positive is this office taught me a lesson in being more aware of my coverage and crooks in the city. I would not recommend my worst enemy. Dr Lake is a good guy but I question why he keeps front desk Mgr, Fabian on staff. read more

I absolutely love love love love love this Dentist. He's really sweet, and funny. You know that horrible pain your tooth get's when a dentist fucks up a filling and there is air in between that requires you to be on mad amounts of IB prophin every 6 hours. That's happened 3 times to me, so I was very reluctant to get yet again another filling that would require that. Not with Dr. Lake. He's impeccable, and I trust him with my life when it comes to teeth. read more

After reading all these reviews I knew I wanted him to be my new dentist. The only downside was trying book an appt for over a month I finally got to see him and it was by far the most detailed & amazing check up I have ever gotten. Even did a 3d panoramic X-ray like when I got braces, who does this at a cleaning appt?! The office and service was all a 5 star experience and all his friendly staff topped it off perfectly. The view of union square from the dental chair didn't hurt either ;) Came back a week after for some cavity work and was just as impressed as my first visit. I found my dentist for life. There's a reason for all these reviews! read more

Dr. Lake and his staff are simple the BEST! I've suffered from "dental phobia" all my adult life, and before seeing Dr. Lake I had to be fully anesthetized just to have a dental cleaning. His calming nature and caring personality are so very genuine that I'm able to have procedures done without having a meltdown. He and his staff are always polite, professional, and honest. I'm never surprised with a bill and their office is always clean and inviting. Thanks Dr. Lake!!!! read more

Dr. Lake might actually be the tooth fairy. He's so warm and friendly (along with every member of his staff) that even getting your teeth drilled is totally delightful. After a sketchy experience with another dentist, a friend recommended I see Dr. Lake for a second opinion before having any work done. Dr. Lake patiently listened to all of my concerns and calmed my nerves by explaining every step of the process. Sure enough, while the previous dentist had told me I'd need six fillings, Dr. Lake only gave me two (which were virtually painless) and recommended a mouthwash to help reverse some minor damage. For anyone who is even a little nervous about the dentist, this is your guy. He's gentle, patient and willing to walk you through every step of the way to make the experience as pleasant as possible. Thanks, Dr. Lake! read more
