This review is long overdue! Dr. Rabanus truly saved my teeth, and I couldn't be happier that I found him. I took a leap of faith by choosing him based solely on online reviews, and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. After a devastating experience with my lifelong childhood dentist--someone I trusted completely--I was left with a botched veneer/crown case that caused me so much stress and regret. From my very first consultation, Dr. Rabanus took the time to explain exactly what had happened to my teeth, walked me through every step of the revision process, and created a clear plan to restore my smile. He was incredibly compassionate, patient, and understanding of everything I had been through. He truly held my hand through the entire process and made me feel heard and supported. Thanks to Dr. Rabanus, I no longer have sensitivity, the unnatural yellow color is gone, and I finally have the smile I always hoped for. I honestly couldn't be happier with the results. I recently found a new general dentist for my routine cleanings, and without me even mentioning who did my work, he said my veneers and crowns were some of the best he had ever seen. His exact words were, "Whoever did your veneers and crowns did an excellent job--they're sealed perfectly." After everything I went through before finding Dr. Rabanus, hearing that from another dental professional was incredibly reassuring and meant the world to me. If you're looking for someone who is exceptionally skilled, verrrrrry meticulous, honest, and genuinely cares about his patients, I cannot recommend Dr. Rabanus enough. I will always be grateful for what he did for me. Hopefully this review is found by someone "like me" who is solely going off of reviews. read more

I have a pretty complicated case - crossbite + front incisor implant. I had some crowns done by a different cosmetic dentist several years ago, but was never really happy with them. I decided to see Dr. Rabanus for a consultation after seeing his glowing reviews here. Consultation: The consultation was straightforward. He explained my case difficulties in a very straightforward, matter-of-fact manner. He felt confident he could dramatically improve my smile. He also suggested some additional lower veneers, which I agreed with. It was clear he knew what he was talking about, and showed me photos from other cases to give me additional confidence in my decision. I was IN. The Process: The procedures themselves were straightforward. First session was to get molds for temporaries. Second to remove the crowns and prep teeth for veneers. Third was to install the permanent crowns (had to do a minor do-over on one set - see below). Took about a month. Dr Rabanus also works weekends or late evenings too which is great for busy professionals like me. Results: The results? ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR. I am so happy with my smile now. As Austin powers said- "I got my mojo back"! Everything from the color to the shape is gorgeous. Just the right shade of white to be eye catching without being obvious (e.g. NOT fake Hollywood blinding white). I've got many - many - compliments on my smile. I have never met someone who is so particular abut the results of his work and so determined to ensure his work is EXACTLY what I want. As an example, he sent the crowns back to the lab because they were not the precise shape he wanted (I couldn't tell the difference, but he could.) Pros: - Extremely meticulous and conscientious - Confident and capable. Stays on top of the latest research and techniques (in addition to his Dental degree, he also has a PhD). - Provides clear options and ideas on type of restorative work to be done. I appreciate him sharing his thinking process and how he arrives at the treatment plan he recommends. - Never "pushes" treatment options. Final decision is always up to the Patient. Cons: - None I can think of. Personality wise, I am very type A, so I am very involved in, and always need to know lots of details about, the care and treatment plans. Dr. Rabanus is unfailingly respectful - I found him to be an excellent partner in my care. Summary: I highly recommend Dr. Rabanus. The quality of his work is beyond superb. A modern day Da Vinci, he couples an artist's eye with a scientist's focus on perfection - it's a rare and unusual combination that produces really extraordinary results. You will be very happy with the results of his work. I know I am. read more

I couldn't be happier--I'm obsessed with my new smile! After consulting with three leading cosmetic dentists, I chose Dr. Rabanus because the exceptional quality of his previous cases made him the clear choice. My goal was an enhanced, rather than strictly natural, aesthetic. He masterfully corrected my deep bite and eliminated the dark spaces at the sides by broadening my smile, while elevating my smile by enlarging the front teeth. The design process involved two sets of temporaries: a natural look, followed by a bolder 'Brigitte Bardot' style featuring prominent centrals and smaller laterals. For the final set, Dr. Rabanus meticulously crafted a playful yet symmetrical design, ensuring perfect axial alignment and adhering to the golden proportion, resulting in a truly flawless outcome. read more

Dr Rabanus fitted 10 beautiful upper veneers for me 7 years ago, and they still look as amazing as ever. I've had zero problems with them whatsoever. I've seen several dental hygienists over the past 7 years and every one of them compliments my veneers and asks where I had them done. They really look good and natural. I returned last week for a 7 year check up and everything passed with flying colors. Also, he's really cool, authentic and personable. Thank you Dr. Rabanus. read more

I came to Doctor Rabanus in May of 2022 with quite literally two decades worth of issues pertaining to my bite and long standing TMJ issues. Every step of the way, Dr. Rabanus was extremely thorough and detailed with his work. Before he even so much as looked into my mouth, he made sure to get a meticulous and detailed history of all of the work previous doctors and dentists had undergone with my teeth (and believe me, there was A LOT). When I first came to Dr. Rabanus, I was wearing dental orthotics nearly 24/7 in order to chew, talk and sleep. I was barely functional without them and had some manner of dental orthotic in my mouth at all times for close to 5 years at that point. It was extremely frustrating and difficult to manage, not to mention the psychological impact to my confidence having a piece of plastic that gave me a constant lisp, had to be removed and cleaned after eating etc. From a functional standpoint, my mouth was a wreck. I dealt with never ending muscle fatigue in my face, extending into my neck and shoulder. My TM joints were constantly feeling swollen and sore and it was very difficult to talk for long periods of time as well as chewing and eating being very precarious. Dr. Rabanus first course of action was to put me in a deprogrammer to get my overactive muscles and wonky bite to calm down and find a more restful position. I wore it religiously for the month or so that he needed me to so that he could prepare to take impressions and start the long process of crafting the wax-up of my new teeth. The deprogrammer was easy to wear and quite nice as it definitely helped relax my mouth. July through September was mostly a waiting game as I left the country for several weeks and had when I returned Dr. Rabanus was also scheduled to leave the country for several weeks. We scheduled the first half of temporaries to go in for October. I will fast forward to then... Come October and I was anxiously awaiting the temporaries, Dr. Rabanus scheduled multiple (I believe 4 hour) sessions for a Saturday and Sunday of that month. The process was far from easy (mostly due to my existing neck / jaw pain), but as soon as the temporaries were in, I already LOVED the look of my new teeth. Two weeks later and I was in the chair again to get the permanents placed, again, not an easy process for someone like me with an already sensitive mouth and jaw, but also not terrible. We kicked up the lidocaine a bit for these sessions I believe, I metabolize it pretty quickly. Fast forward to now, 9 months or so later: It's hard to explain just how much my confidence levels have sky rocketed with having a beautiful set of teeth. I smile ALL the time. In comparing photos from prior to the work of Doctor Rabanus and after, I just look so much happier 24/7. This of course creates a feedback loop of me feeling better because it's easier to exist in social settings and not feel anxious and like I have to hide my teeth / acrylic appliances all the time. Anxiety lead to fear of social settings, difficult interacting with peers and in turn...more stress, anxiety and inevitably more pain. Now I LOVE social interactions, meeting new people, laughing and smiling along with friends. It really has made such an impact in my life. It took me months to even get used to the idea of being able to smile without feeling awkward as I was SO conditioned by my subconscious to hide my teeth and contain my emotions. I get endless compliments on my teeth now, nobody once has even presumed that they were veneers, they really are THAT good, people are generally SHOCKED when I tell them I got my teeth done. Amazing work by Dr. Rabanus, he truly is an artist. From a functional standpoint, it's so relieving to be able to actually eat my food without having to wear a piece of acrylic in my mouth 24/7. Did it solve all of my tension symptoms? Definitely not, but we already presumed that would be the case going in. The two decades worth of TMJ problems caused me to develop many many bad habits in regards to how I bite, chew, swallow, etc. This will take time to regulate and retrain. I still have pretty "clicky" joints in my jaw. We also have yet to do work on the crowns for my molars, which I presume will make my bite a bit more "even" in the long run since my molars are relatively "flat" in comparison to my teeth with veneers placed in. All-in-all Im extremely pleased with the work Dr. Rabanus has done for me. I couldn't imagine having a more thorough and dedicated professional work on my teeth. He really took extreme care and effort every step of the way and made me feel the confidence I needed to proceed forward with the work he's done. Immensely grateful to him and highly recommend his office. read more

A friends took a picture of me today, and I couldn't help zoom in at my beautiful smile. So I came in here to say thank you Dr Rabanus, and to encourage anyone who Has doubts to go ahead and start the process. I was one of you reading every comment, questioning the perfect score and the hype. Doing so much research, that I translated some German Dr Rabanus is a master, you just need to trust his process. I was maybe one of his difficult patients. But he listened to me and answered my "freaking out " emails with so much grace. Dr. Jorg-Peter Rabanus - Bottom left : my original smile. Middle: after gum surgery. Upper left: temporaries. Right : my now beautiful smile ! - Cosmetic Dentists Near Me - San Francisco, California

I can't thank enough Dr Rabanus for transforming my smile! I had worn, discolored teeth and some bite problems. From the very first visit I could tell that Dr Rabanus was the best in his field, very caring and passionate about his work. He explained to me that beautiful teeth are not about just veneers but it's also about having correct bite and matching gum line. My journey began with wearing a special retainer for 2 weeks to find what Dr Rabanus described as a "home position" or in other words finding what's the correct bite should be. Then I was referred to a periodontist for crown lengthening and gum contouring. Only after these two steps were completed a mold of my teeth was taken and Dr Rabanus has started designing my veneers. He advised me on how to choose the right color, translucency and shape of the veneers so it looks both natural and beautiful. I felt that he truly cared and had a lot of experience too. Now I have my new smile and feel like I am ready to take on the world! I have talked to about 4 or 5 other cosmetic dentists before coming to Dr Rabanus and what they were offering sounded a lot like an "instant orthodontics" as opposed to a holistic approach taken by Dr Rabanus. I am so happy that I found Dr Rabanus and took this journey. You are trully a Maestro! read more

Dr. Jorg-Peter Rabanus - Before and After - Cosmetic Dentists Near Me - San Francisco, California

Dr. Rabanus is amazing. He's the only cosmetic dentist accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry in San Francisco. He very quickly becomes your friend. He cares about you as a person. You work with him directly - always. He's incredibly responsive. He's a perfectionist. He's an artist. He wants you to be absolutely satisfied with the end result and he, too, wants it to be perfect for you. You absolutely will not be disappointed! I cannot recommend him highly enough. Friends and coworkers of mine are now seriously considering cosmetic dentistry after seeing the end result on me. Before and after pictures are included. My color shade is Ivoclar Vivadent BL3. Fun Story from October 17th, 2017... I arrive at Dr. Rabanus' office around 7:30pm for a minor bite adjustment and he was finishing up a consultation with a new patient. We all ended up talking about online dating and how the new patient and his girlfriend were an online dating success story. The new patient had the Ivoclar Vivadent color shade guide with him and some other materials, so he was looking at color selection homework and had just completed some impressions. His girlfriend looked a little nervous about her boyfriend getting cosmetic dentistry and it it looking really fake. Just dumb luck that the consultation had run a bit long into my appointment and I ended up being a living model of Dr. Rabanus' finished work. The new patient asks me, point blank, "if you don't mind my asking, are those veneers?" and I replied "well, they're crowns but the look would be the same" and he goes "Wow. Those look REALLY good. I want my teeth to look exactly like yours. The shape, color, length, everything." The concerned look on his girlfriend's face immediately melted away. The new patient was ecstatic to see real-world example of finished work (although I suspect his girlfriend may have been MORE ecstatic). Completely random but it was fun. I told them both that they won't be disappointed and that they're in the best of hands! Well, if you've gotten this far then I appreciate you reading my adventure and I hope that it answers any questions you may have about the procedure and Dr. Rabanus himself. It's been a long journey for me, given the extensive damage I had done, and through that time I've found more than an immensely talented cosmetic dentist -- but also a friend. I absolutely cannot recommend him highly enough! read more

Permitting a bit of fun embellishment, I liken Dr. Rabanus's work to that of Johannes Brahms. Much like Brahms's mastery over many musical disciplines - symphonies, concerti, chamber music, piano music, and choral compositions - Dr. Rabanus is a master of many dentistry disciplines. As other reviewers have mentioned, upon meeting him during your first appointment and evaluation, you immediately get the sense that he's an absolute professional. After all, he is the only cosmetic dentist in San Francisco accredited by the AACD. However, what impressed me the most was Dr. Rabanus's skill in dealing with unexpected situations. During my first session in the chair, two of my damaged old fillings came loose and nearly crumbled away, stalling prep work for the temporary veneers. Even though we were already several hours into the procedure, Dr. Rabanus didn't miss a beat. He immediately switched gears and began prepping and filling the oral cavity. After an hour finishing up this unexpected extra work, he transitioned back to the primary procedure without breaking a sweat. Incredible. And the fillings turned out better than the original ones! In short, Dr. Rabanus effectively communicates a clear and concise dental plan while also allowing you to be part of the process. He encourages (and expects) you to be a part of the process - engaging you at every stage to help guide the outcome of your new "look." I absolutely recommend and endorse the great work of Dr. Rabanus. He will change your life. read more

A life changing smile by Dr. Rabanus has given me incredible dividends. State of the art techniques and old-school quality craftsmanship sets Dr. Rabanus apart from others in my research. The amount of care, detail, and thoughtful preparation--making sure everything was just right. His process is clear, focused, and you immediately feel you're in the most capable of hands. If you're lucky enough to secure his services, Dr. Rabanus can not be beat. read more

Read his website, looked promising. Showed up at his SF office in the morning as a walk-in. Asked the receptionist for an appointment, first thing she gave me was a form to fill out - after filling it half way, I asked when I could possibly see Dr. Rabanus (as I had a bit of a dental emergency, front tooth chipped pretty badly). She seemed surprised, and said that he rarely there, and that I should just call his number directly to setup a time. The form was to see a completely different Dr. that works from that office. Not friendly or helpful, seemed annoyed that I was a "walk-in". So I left a voicemail for Dr. Rabanus, and did not receive a call back. read more

The struggle with my teeth started many years ago. I always had crooked, gapped teeth and at a young age started developing cavities even with regular brushing and (occasional) flossing. As I got older, I started grinding my teeth in my sleep and ignored advice from multiple dentists over the years to sleep with a night guard. Over time the grinding looks its toll in a noticeable way and the enamel on my teeth was disappearing as well. I became very diligent about brushing and flossing multiple times daily, but continued having issues with cavities, yellowing, chips, and excessive wear. I went through two rounds of Invisilign which somehow made things worse since issues with the placement of my bite were never addressed, and I didn't wear a retainer for reasons I won't go into so my teeth weren't aligned for very long. Needless to say, I have always been self-conscious about them and worked hard to hide them when I smiled and when any pictures were being taken. In late 2017, I began considering trying another round of Invisilign to straighten them again along with something like bonding to deal with the gaps, but I started to feel like I needed to make a more serious investment in a longer-term solution. This was when I turned to Yelp and started searching for a cosmetic dentist who could walk me through my options. I spoke with a couple of different dentists who were basically willing to do whatever I asked for, but then found the listing for Dr. Rabanus and read through all of the five star reviews. Not only was I intrigued, but I became emotional at the thought of finally finding a dentist who could provide an informed recommendation and help me achieve a healthy smile I could be proud of. I made an appointment for a consultation and met with him in January, 2018. To jump right to the end, I ultimately got 20 veneers. This seemed extreme when the plan was first presented to me, but my teeth had deteriorated over many years and I knew a lot of work was needed. The roots were healthy and so were my gums so I didn't have to have any teeth totally removed or have other corrective work. I did some research to make sure veneers were the best route, and after more discussion with Dr. Rabanus felt confident that they were. He recommended I first have a "gum lift" (gingivectomy) to improve the look of my gum line since I had a very "gummy" smile and referred me to a periodontist. I had the gum lift done in March, then had to wait about six weeks for that to heal before we could proceed with the process for getting the veneers done. In the meantime, it was necessary to determine the appropriate placement for my bite since my teeth so I wore something called a deprogrammer for about four weeks. Once that was all done, the real work started and I ultimately ended up spending A LOT of time with Dr. Rabanus over the next several weeks as he worked diligently on providing me with an amazing smile. I don't think I need to go into how skilled and knowledgable Dr. Rabanus is. I think that's covered in many of the reviews here. What I will talk about is how dedicated he was to my case. He made me feel like I was his only patient by always being accessible and responsive, making appointments that were convenient for me, and spending countless hours with laser focus on making sure every tooth was dealt with in the best possible way. His precision and diligence was robot-like. I was very sensitive about how my bite felt and asked him to make a lot of tiny little adjustments, and he was more patient than any doctor or dentist has ever been with me. This was not an inexpensive endeavor and I had a lot of hesitation spending the amount of money I ultimately did for this work, but in the end it was worth it and I am thrilled with the outcome. I still check in with Dr. Rabanus from time to time and very recently reached out about a concern with one of the teeth. He responded quickly as always, made time for me, and quickly took care of the issue. I can't recommend Dr. Rabanus enough. read more

Dr. Jorg-Peter Rabanus - Before and after - Cosmetic Dentists Near Me - San Francisco, California

I am beyond impressed with Dr. Rabanus. After years of searching for a dentist to help me improve my smile, I came across some of the reviews for Dr. Rabanus and didn't hesitate to book a consultation. In the consultation, Dr. Rabanus listened to my concerns and desires and came up with a plan for my teeth that I felt comfortable and excited about. I wanted something natural and ended up with 8 veneers on the top that look perfect. Throughout the process, I was blown away by the kindness and skill of Dr. Rabanus. He is not only knowledgeable, meticulous and an expert with cosmetic dentistry, but also very personable and happy to address any questions and concerns you have regarding your teeth. I literally cannot stop smiling about my new smile. I would recommend him to anyone looking to improve their teeth and smile. An added bonus is that I was able to schedule my appointments to take place in the evenings and weekends. read more

I decided to get veneers with Dr. Rabanus after being "on the fence" for years and having discussed the procedure with ~5 different doctors (some of whom also vouched for Dr. Rabanus as a leader in SF). I decided to go with him and ultimately am sharing this review as I am happy with the experience and would recommend: 1. Up front communication/Listening - Dr. Rabanus listens to your specific needs, takes the time to answer your questions in up front consultation (many of mine were related to process/technology), and even did a photoshop mock up of my potential smile post-op. Other doctors I talked to were not as patient or willing to go in-depth with me. Additional bonus is he is very flexible to your schedule and works nights/weekends. He will make you feel confident going in. 2. Quality - I have had the veneers for ~one year now and have had 0 "non-aesthetic" issues. No chips, no pain, no speech/breathing alteration, no bite issues, etc. Of course we all do this for cosmetics but can't take this aspect for granted. I have friends who have had pain/gum issues with other doctors. 3. Design/Aesthetics - Dr. Rabanus clearly has an eye and passion for design and knows how to create a beautiful smile. He does not just put a "cookie cutter" mold on you and will incorporate your feedback and make modifications to temporaries to get the exact look you want. That said, it is best to work with him having a decent idea of what you want (do your own studying), as he is hesitant (rightfully so) to answer questions on "what would look better" and ultimately forces you to make your own decisions. Cost was higher than all the others I consulted with but not egregious and I believe worth the premium that is ultimately not material when you're talking about a multi-year investment. read more

I've known my teeth were messed up for many years, but it took my wife to help me to understand that people who first met me thought I had a drug problem. I don't. So, after years of listening to dentists gently push me towards getting (expensive) porcelain veneers - and spending thousands on bonding that inevitably would discover or crack - I finally decided it was time. Shopping around, I found that each dentist had his or her own "plan" on how to go about it, none of which felt right to me. I can't explain why. I finally turned to my wife and said, "If I'm going to do this, I want to find the BEST." So we turned to Yelp and discovered a cosmetic dentist whose reviews didn't seem real. 5 Stars across the board? Come on. Unless Dr. Jorg-Peter Rabanus has a second career as a writer capable of writing convincingly in many different voices, it seemed like I found my guy. I chose to make the next move and see if the proof was in the potato salad. We met Dr. Rabanus at his office in downtown San Francisco. I have never had a doctor unafraid to be a real person with me, and I appreciated this (we now text to make appointments). But more so, I appreciated his deep understanding of my mouth. He had seen my x-rays before I arrived and developed a clear plan of attack for me that just made sense. Way more sense than any other dentist I'd consulted in the past. No braces needed (others said I would). A realistic 3-4 month timeline to take care of roughly... my whole mouth. And an understanding that I won't just get new teeth that look great, I'll also have the opportunity to correct my jaw and "reset" my mouth to its most natural home position. Never heard this one before. Dr. Peter is not just a dentist. He is currently the only cosmetic dentist in San Francisco who is accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, as well as a professor on the subject dedicated to teaching other dentists worldwide. He won't mention most of his accolades in person, but just read: http://www.aesthetic-dentistry.com/about-dr-rabanus. People fly in from all over the world to work with Dr. Peter for a reason. His attitude and professionalism are nice bonuses. The main reason is he's a master of his craft. I can say this with full confidence now after having recently completed my full consultation schedule with him. From wearing a "deprogrammer" for a month to set my jaw in the home position, to not experiencing any pain after nearly 6 hours in the dentists chair, you need to understand that this guy is legit. Your mouth is going to thank you. I don't always take the luxury path. I'm often totally fine buying the cheap option, as long as it serves my needs. I don't need the world to see that I drive a BMW, if I'm totally happy with a Ford. That said, for the things I use every day, like a bed or my teeth, I want a BMW. And Dr. Peter is the BMW of dentists. What the world now sees is the result of his German precision in carefully orchestrating and executing a rebuild of my mouth that now has me smiling brighter and receiving smiles just as big in return. My confidence was never low, but oh man... I didn't realize it can be boosted like this. Only problem now is that my wife is more nervous about other women looking at me! ;-) Thanks, Dr. Peter. You're the best. Literally. read more

Dr. Rabanus is incredibly skilled at his work - an angel in this city. In 2008, I woke up one day to see that part of one of my front teeth (which were already caps) had broken off and I freaked out! I am a recovering grinder. I used to badly grind my teeth in my sleep, due to stress, and I have improved lots since becoming a healthier adult and moving to San Francisco (of course, it's amazing here lol). I searched for cosmetic dentists and found the experienced Dr. Rabanus. I wanted to fix my teeth right this time - quality that lasts. Go big or go home! As soon as I met Dr. Rabanus, I could see that he was passionate about his work, very knowledgable and very sincere. He told me all about cosmetic veneers and how they work during a free consultation. He is genuine and wants to help people have great smiles because it truly changes your life. I did veneers with him for my two front teeth - and they look amazing! I have had hundreds of compliments on my smile and teeth ever since. Sometimes I do bleaching for the teeth just to whiten and refresh everything, which adds the icing to the cake. I'm happy to say that to this day, my smile is beautiful. I feel beautiful everyday. We shouldn't be afraid to smile because we're not happy with our teeth. My smile gives me confidence to be myself and shine. Dr. Rabanus is worth every penny. If you've been debating veneers, you won't regret it. :) read more

Dr. Rabanus did some major dental work for me 2 years ago. Major. It took weeks of prepping. I am a very difficult patient, I have an unreasonable fear of dentists and often cry and shake; I have a very small mouth and large teeth which are hard to reach because of the small mouth; my gums bleed a lot; my jaw comes out of the socket during long procedures and locks out. Throughout all of this, Dr. Rabanus was not only patient and polite, but he did AMAZING work. I selected Dr. Rabanus after a year of research, trying to find the right person for me. I think I found the right guy. He is very flexible with his schedule and has met me in the evenings and on weekends with no complaints. I highly recommend him!! read more

Dr. Rabanus combines the knowledge and precision of a scientist with the natural skills of an artist, a perfect combination when it comes to cosmetic dentistry. "Anything short from the best is just not good enough" - This was the mindset I had when I decided to finally "perfect" my smile after years unhappy with my short and uneven teeth, caused mostly by the horrendous habit of teeth grinding. I spent months looking through reviews, websites, before and after pictures, until I came across Dr. Rabanus' website. The outstanding reviews certain caught my eye but the before and after pictures were the reason that made me pick up the phone and schedule and appointment with him. From our first conversation over the phone I could tell he not only was extremely knowledgeable but also truly passionate about how his work in cosmetic dentistry can truly improve people's lives. During my first visit he gave me detailed and direct answers to all my questions and took the time to learn about me and my smile in order to suggest the best procedure. After discussing our oprions we decided to go with veneers. As the ultimate perfectionist he is, Dr. Rabanus started by fixing the problem at the root: he worked with me to correct my bite so I would stop grinding my teeth. After that we moved to the fun part: pictures, impressions, more pictures, more impressions, and he worked to magically create something I thought I would never have: a perfect smile. Length, color, size, everything was perfect. I left his office smiling after my last visit and I haven't stopped smiling since then. If you feel your smile is affecting your self steam and holding you back professionally or socially, give yourself this treat and if you want perfection, Dr. Rabanus is your guy. read more

I had braces when I was in High School and was unsatisfied with the results even after they were removed. My smile had small gaps and imperfections that left me feeling very unsatisfied with my teeth. Eventually, I decided to seek out cosmetic dentistry. I discovered Dr. Rabanus while doing a Google search on "porcelain veneers San Francisco." After reviewing the website, reading about his credentials and checking reviews on Dr. Rabanus from Yelp and other internet sites, I felt justified in taking the next step. I emailed Dr. Rabanus and he promptly responded with an appointment for a free consultation. He accommodated my work schedule by meeting me after hours at his office at 7pm. I found Dr. Rabanus to be a very warm, personable and affable man. The Doctor took a great deal of time consulting me and determining exactly what it was that I needed to have the teeth and smile I envisioned for myself. His entire approach to dentistry was very professional and relationship focused. Together we came up with a plan that would get me the teeth and smile that I wanted. The first week, we sat down and conducted a "smile analysis," this process included: taking x-rays, created molds and preparing my teeth. The following 2 weeks I wore "temporaries" to treat my teeth while the veneers were being created. During that period something happened. I chipped one of my temporary teeth while biting into a rib dinner. Dr. Rabanus warned me about eating these kinds of foods while I had my temporaries in but I could not resist. Consequently, I chipped a tooth. I texted Dr. Rabanus about my mishap and we setup an appointment the very next to have my tooth repaired (free of charge). Two weeks later my veneers were finished and they were put on to replace my temporaries. I can't tell you how satisfied I was with the results! I remember getting out of the dentist chair, looking into a mirror and seeing my flawless new smile for the first time. I had a mouth full of Novocain, I was fumbling over my own lips trying to express to Dr. Rabanus how pleased I was with the results and how thankful I was without yet having the ability to speak coherently. Everything about my teeth are perfect! I have received dozens of compliments from friends and family since they were put in over 6 months ago. More importantly, my new smile has given me the confidence to really be myself. Dr. Rabanus is an artist. I think of him the way one might think of an engineer or an architect. Every detail, every shape, every shade is meticulously planned out and executed to perfection. The results I've experienced prove, Dr. Rabanus puts the time and energy necessary into producing a top-quality finished product. And the cost? Truth be told, I left spending more money on my teeth than I had originally budgeted. However, the results are better than I could have ever imagined. You get what you pay for. I would recommend Dr. Rabanus, without hesitation, to anyone seeking quality cosmetic dentistry. See what other patients have said. I ALWAYS do my homework and ask around before spending serious cash on anything. People who work with this guy leave happy: http://www.aesthetic-dentistry.com/dr_rabanus_testimonials.php read more

My teeth used to be really bad - discolored by antibiotics, filled with dozens of old dark dental fillings, and worn out over time. I went through an orthodontic treatment about 6 years ago and bleached my teeth numerous times since then - they looked much better after these procedures but were still far from beautiful. Eventually I decided to consult a cosmetic dentist and contacted Dr. Rabanus. He has been very responsive and took a lot of time to discuss my options. I recall sitting for hours at a coffee shop in San Francisco, talking about what we wanted to achieve, looking at pictures, and discussing technical details. At some point the owners were closing the shop and kicked us out - we moved to another shop nearby and continued until I couldn't come up with any additional questions. Dr. Rabanus was amazingly patient in explaining all nuances I wanted to understand. My overriding goal was to have my teeth look absolutely natural, and as beautiful as possible. And I have been very demanding about it. We spent hours discussing the shape (contour) of the teeth. Once this has been agreed, Dr. Rabanus showed me a 3D model of my new teeth and soon thereafter I had my temporaries put on. Once I had my temporaries on, I had to choose the shade of my new teeth. I was given 8 different sample shades to take home and could play with them for a week deciding which one I wanted. I really liked a very bright one but got some push back from Dr. Rabanus who thought my teeth wouldn't look natural if I went that bright. One day I drove to the lab in Sacramento and met there with Jon, the technician who actually was to make my veneers. We spent an hour discussing minor tweaks to the contour and the shade - and we settled on a much less bright shade. I had my 10 veneers and two crowns put on my upper teeth a few weeks ago. It's been a very major dental work - it takes a lot of effort on the dentist and the patient sides to have the 12 teeth done! But the look and feel is - totally, absolutely natural! They are simply beautiful. The shape and shade are perfect. They look more natural than my lower teeth which have no veneers on them! I just came back from a dinner with my friend - we haven't seen each other for a few months - and she had asked me who my dentist was. She told me I had beautiful teeth. It has never ever happened to me before. She had no idea that my upper teeth had veneers on them, they looked so perfectly natural. I can highly recommend Dr. Rabanus to anyone who is looking for the highest quality cosmetic dentistry. For me the complements about my new smile that I started to receive are the best proof that the procedure was worth my time and money. read more

I would highly recommend Dr Rabanus for porcelain veneers. Dr Rabanus is extremely talented. I would not go to anyone else, ever, period. I researched cosmetic dentists for over 2 years before finally finding him. Although I wanted veneers, every time I looked at other dentist's before and after photos, I was always disappointed with the bulky fake look. I kept thinking to myself, if these are the teeth they are showcasing, then the average work will be worse than that, which is unacceptable. I was starting to lose hope, until I somehow stumbled across Dr. Rabanus on Google. Immediately after seeing his before and after photos, I knew I was going to work with him. I made my appointment and within two months had a new smile. I LOVE my new smile. My teeth look natural and beautiful. It was so worth it. Dr Rabanus is honest, friendly, professional, and no B.S. My only regret is not doing more teeth, but I will definitely be back! read more

Dr. Rabanus might just just be a miracle worker. Before working with Dr. Rabanus, i could't tell you the last time I smile and showed my teeth. After Dr. Rabanus completed his miracle work, I'm smiling big everyday! I found Dr. Rabanus on Google, and the one thing that stood out to me the most was the fact he was one of the only, if not the only, cosmetic dentist in the city that was actually certified by the board of cosmetic dentistry. This was huge to me. I also read a bunch of other reviews that told me he was a nice guy and was more of a friend than a dentist. This was also huge to me because have you ever met most dentist? They're complete jerks and most of them suck. But not Dr. Rabanus. So after months of research i thought I'd give him a call and set up a consultation. Well he was a real class act. He made me feel welcomed, safe, and confident in his ability to perform great work. I hated my smile before I met with Dr. Rabanus. I had a very "gummy" smile," small teeth, big teeth, crooked teeth, yellow teeth. He was able to work with me and create a smile that I couldn't have ever thought up. He's outstanding. I'd highly recommend Dr. Rabanus to anyone considering cosmetic dentistry. He will take care of you and leave you with a great smile. I'll be sure to go back to him when i get my bottom teeth done! read more

After searching for over a year to find a qualified cosmetic dentist specialist in the bay area, I consider myself truly fortunate to have found Dr. Rabanus. He is indeed a one of a kind individual, gifted in both the art and science of cosmetic dentistry. My search began after years of being dissatisfied with my Lumineer veneers applied by a dentist who did some cosmetic dentistry but who primarily practiced general dentistry. The appearance of my veneers were bulky and unnatural. But even more concerning to me was that the margins of the veneers were not properly shaped to my gum line which eventually led to problems with leakage, discoloration and decay of my own teeth beneath the veneers. I was naturally very reluctant to go through the expense and discomfort of the removal and replacement of my veneers without being completely 100% convinced that I had found the right doctor to do the job correctly and with artistic skill. During my initial consultation, Dr. Rabanus immediately gained my confidence as he knew exactly what the problem was with my lumineers and how to address it most effectively. I could tell right away that he had a high level of expertise, possessing a strong scientific background combined with a keen eye for esthetics. Dr. Rabanus confidently explained to me in detail a plan for removing and replacing my 15 veneers, patiently answered all of my questions and allied any of my concerns over the course of our next several meetings. Not only was he thorough and precise, but he was also very personable and compassionate. As a medical professional, I have very high expectations for my own patient care, and at times can be a bit of a perfectionist which can make me a challenging patient. No worries there, Dr. Rabanus completely exceeded all of my expectations--which is no easy task! I can truly appreciate his professionalism and devotion to his craft. It is clear that his primary objective is an optimal outcome for each and every one of his patients. I am exceedingly pleased with my final result and very glad that I took my time to research and find the very best in the field of cosmetic dentistry. read more

I spent many years procrastinating around repairing a dead and darkening front tooth. And another with a chip and a few coffee stained composite fillings from last century. Many years of manufactured anxiety built in here...but that's just me! I have always been very aware of fake looking crowns- the ones that look like "Chiclets" gum pieces- big solid white blobs. I thought the fake thing would look worse than the dead thing, anyway- I finally became motivated to pull the trigger and get it done. I've done a bit of research over the years and knew, basically, I needed an artist who is a dentist. My regular dentist was ready to, as he put it "pop in a crown". I queried him a bit about my concerns- perfect color matching, natural appearance. He actually told me he thought I was too "particular" and at my age, 54- weren't my expectations a bit high? No I'm not exaggerating- he said this. His callousness was fascinating, anyway... He confided he has had problems with various labs- inconsistent quality work. He would be concerned about meeting my high expectations... So, I concluded, duh, that this just wasn't his thing. That's why one asks questions- thank God I did! As far as I'm concerned, I'm interviewing these people about their craft. Learning about them by how they approach me and their craft by how they position themselves in their field. Then go with my gut. I found Dr Rabanus routinely researching cosmetic dentists in the Bay Area. For starters he confidently made no mistake from the start who he is and what he does. And he's German- so it sounds impressive- just me again. He does high end cosmetic work. Assessing you and your smile holistically. In my case, he listened to me and gave a recommendation based on what he heard. We agreed on a scope of work which was more involved than what I had originally imagined. But based on our consultation, what he told me I could get, I really did want. Until then I didn't know what was possible. This wasn't "popping in a crown" This was a very big thing for me to do. I had a lot of second thoughts along the way and the story isn't complete if I don't include the part about me arriving for my first actual appointment in a cold sweat with cold feet intending to back out. Dr Rabanus handled me well and thoughtfully. He rather patiently talked me down and helped me come to my own conclusion. I elected to proceed. The work on my 4 center front teeth includes one crown on the dead guy and three veneers. They are straight and look so real it's stunning- and yes I am very "particular". He corrected my over bite as well which was the thing I didn't think possible. Also a couple very subtle tweaks- like elongating the incisors ever so slightly. Well- my smile is so nice now and I look great. It's all so subtle as well. I did not expect to get this sort of result nor had I actually anticipated the confidence boost. The other dentist was way wrong- 54 and it does matter- now more than ever! I'm very pleased. I even went out to the lab personally to have a "shade consultation" to get the color matched. So I am taking the time to write this because I did have a very good experience. But more over- if you are going to do this and you are a bit afraid as I was, it's important you get this right! Hire the person who knows the work! I would encourage you to check out Dr Rabanus and his credentials and his mission and then go with your gut. I can say that the work I had done exceeded my high expectations. read more

At the age of 15yrs old I had a skate board accident, resulting in breaking three of my front teeth. Over the years I saw various cosmetic dentist who would replace my crowns with new ones, due the problems they were causing with my gums, swelling the silver showing on the gum line, they looked horrible. After time I just did not see old self in photo's. I found Dr. Rabanus had me bring in a photo of me prior to breaking them. WOW!! he gave me back my beautiful smile and I feel like me again. Every dentist since always compliments me on my crowns say " I would not even known they were crowns" I am very particular about my smile and frankly I would not consider anyone else to take care of my teeth. My husband also had his smile restored after having grey teeth, Dr. Rabanus worked with us on the financial portion so that we could work it into our budget comfortably. Thank you!!!! Dr. Rabanus for your talent and attention to detail. read more

Dr. Rabanus is wonderful, I highly recommend him! I'm so happy and satisfied with my results. He really is a skilled artist, he did a fantastic job. Went to this dentist after researching some of his credentials. I had some serious bad teeth issues but I was a little hesitant as we've all seen some BAD dental work, right?! I wanted him to show me some of his work which he did (very enthusiastically!) Also, without telling him what I wanted my veneers to look like, I asked him his thoughts. His reply convinced me I should work with him. He is all about natural but amazing. It was hard work going through all that dental work but the final results have made it all worth it. The quality of the veneers he placed are top notch -- and have changed the way I look entirely. No one would ever guess i just wan't one of those lucky people born with stunning teeth. Definitely recommend this guy for anyone looking for cosmetic dentistry. read more

Dr. Rabanus is the best! He is also the only cosmetic dentist accredited by the AACD in San Francisco. That is important people! Read up on his credentials, quite impressive. He is meticulous in his work. I had porcelain veneers on my upper and lower teeth. I finally love my smile now and get many compliments! People fly in from all over to see him as he's that good. I wouldn't trust anyone else. read more

A genius? An artist? An amazing and caring doctor? Dr Rabanus is all of that and beyond. I came to him with a darkened root canal on a front tooth that was semi-covered by a crown (the emphasis is on *semi*, not *covered*). I am a very, VERY particular patient. I probably have a degree in OCD, and I've had serious childhood dental trauma that impacted both my teeth and my self-esteem. I have consulted quite a few highly-regarded dentists both in NYC and in CA. They were nice and probably good at their craft yet they didn't instill in me the confidence that they could accomplish *mission impossible* - make my front teeth look cute and completely natural like I've never had any trauma. Enter Dr. Rabanus. Admittedly, he has a bit of an unorthodox approach: he sees his patients on the weekends, he is a total perfectionist, and he cares more about his patients' happiness and well-being than compensation (shhh!). Well, that's exactly why I loved him!!! :) Dr Rabanus is amazing. Or, rather, AMAZING!!! He made sure that I understood my treatment choices, he always explained my other options, he had the best root canal specialist on call when I needed one, and he made sure that the implant tooth surgeon was so good that I was in awe (no small feat - have I mentioned the OCD? :)) The full team of supplementary specialists were not only available when necessary, but also bowed down to Dr. Rabanus' expertise. Yeah, he really is THAT good. Frankly, after 20+ years of dental experiences of all sorts, I can attest that Dr. Rabanus is the first dentist I completely trust, with my eyes closed, to work on my teeth since I know the outcome will be so spectacular! read more

I have put off cosmetic dentistry for many years, and it was way overdue. Having a poor smile impacts your life. Over the past 3 years I had appointments at four well known full time cosmetic dentists, one on the peninsula, two in the east bay, and then just this year Dr R in San Francisco. ( I realized the other 3 had not given me confidence in the process or outcome, they seemed to be high volume and not personal.) After my meetings with Dr R, I realized he was the right dentist and decided to get going. Several months later I am done with 12 veneers and caps and I made the right decision. Why? He spends as much time as it takes over as many appointments as it takes to get it perfect. He focuses on getting your entire dental health resolved, not just cosmetic, so it will last. For me that meant studying my bite and seeing the problems bad dental work had caused and fixing them first or working with other specialists. Making sure my gums and all teeth, as a foundation, were healthy and ready to support my new teeth for many years. He has a great esthetic eye and his design is fantastic. He works with the best lab that takes the time to produce perfect veneers and caps. He is available to talk or meet when you need him. He is low volume not high volume. He is a perfectionist when it comes to cosmetic dentistry that looks great and will last. It is a big commitment of time and money with any good dentist- with Dr R you get the best. read more

I came to Dr Rabanus because over the years I had worn down my teeth from Bruxation or grinding my teeth at night. My teeth were worn down and painful and outright ugly. My dentist i had been seeing for years didn't know what to do, i was spending $4000 a year to keep up with my teeth and he was good but I was at a point where I needed to have a full makeover. I found Dr Rabanus and he was professional and clear regarding the seriousness of my condition and provided me with an approach. After some discussion we decided to a full teeth replacement with veneers and caps. The cost was about $60k and it took several months to complete but the results were absolutely amazing in terms of cosmetic and function. As far as personality, Dr. Rabanus is professional and passionate with his technique. Through the process there were several 8-10 hour sessions bet felt comfortable with him and his attention to detail and amiable personality. More importantly the results are amazing. The biggest issue is that I don't bruxate anymore(my teeth were so sore that i would grind them based on habit, now my teeth look like they did when i was 20(I'm now 40). I can now sleep better as I don't wake up in pain and they look amazing--natural and perfect. It took some time getting used to, and the process is not painful so to speak but does take some getting used to. After 4 months or so my teeth felt natural and now after a year they are perfect. If you are thinking of this procedure I would recommend Dr. Rabanus 1000%. He is intelligent and has a passion for cosmetic/restorative dentistry which you don't usually encounter. I come from a family of doctors and I found his skill and care to be exceptional. If you are thinking about any cosmetic or restorative dentistry I highly recommend his services. read more

Dr. Rabanus did my veneer work: 8 teeth total. He was excellent about explaining exactly what the process would entail, how it would work, and allayed any concerns I had immediately and candidly. He is very to the point and tells it like it is. A good fit, personality-wise, and exactly what one would want in a cosmetic dentist. AND he works on weekends. Excellent. The process itself went very smoothly. Two consultation appointments, then two more in the chair to get temporaries and then the final product. I had a temp pop off a few days later, and he had me in his office that same day to get it replaced (replacement took 20 mins total from start to finish). Entire process was done in ~5 weeks, including two weeks out of town. The final product is stellar. The veneers look perfectly natural and beautiful, not at all fake like some of the horrible veneer jobs you can see online. Really excellent work. A lot of comments and compliments on them. The few people I told that they were veneers would not believe it, they look so natural. 5 stars out of 5, I would recommend Dr. Rabanus to anyone who needs veneers done. I could not have asked for a better cosmetic dentistry experience. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Rabanus. I went in with a smile that I wasn't pleased with in the least. In fact, I've always hated my smile. After a few weeks and 8 porcelain veneers later, he gave me something that I've always wanted. A beautiful smile that I could be proud of. I have since took 10x the pictures I use too, instead of shying away from the camera. It has honestly been one of the best experiences of my life. read more

i had been miserable with my teeth all my life. while young and stupid and living in buenos aires, i decided to check into getting veneers to cover up the nasty suckers. my the cost of doing this sort of operation was much more affordable than in the states. i decided to go against my intuition and get the veneers done. WRONG DECISION! i returned to the states a month later with bleeding gums, plastic looking teeth that started falling out, and a clenching jaw while i tried to drift into dreams. it was horrible. rabanus was able to work miracles and remedy my broken mouth. one of the reasons i went with rab is because he's not just asethetic but in oral medicine as well. this helped immensly with repairing my mouth back to a healthy state, before installing the aesthetically pleasing veneers. i can honestly say i got two doctors in one! i like rab b/c he was confident in what he was doing, he knew what he was talking about and he cared about what he was talking about :). some people might take his occasional confident, direct personality as something unpleasant..but unpleasant not, that's what i expect in a medical/artist professional, someone who tells you like it is and is knowledgable, but can joke around at the same time. people have been amazed by my teeth. often those say my teeth are gorgeous. i know this might sound a bit insane but i loooove brushing or sliding my tongue against the back of my teeth now. it feels great! thanks dr rabanus for your remarkable job! read more

I had an fantastic experience with Dr. Rabanus and recommend him wholeheartedly. A few years ago I had some dental work done by a "cosmetic" dentist, and my veneers turned out like bad fitting dentures. I learned the hard way that the term "Cosmetic Dentist" does not mean that a dentist has a cosmetic dentistry specialty certification that is recognized by the ADA. Many dentists claim to be "cosmetic dentists" simply because they have done a few veneers or taken a few classes. In 2006 I decided to fix the problem. A colleague recommended Dr. Rabanus to completely redo the faulty work. Dr. Rabanus is an internationally recognized professional who teaches cosmetic dentistry around the world and is one of the very few accredited members of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry AACD. Dr. Rabanus is a consummate perfectionist and master of his craft. His artistry and attention to detail achieved the perfect smile for me with high end porcelain enhancements that look natural and feel fantastic. I now get regular compliments on my smile, without anyone guessing that I have veneers. My regular dentist that handles my check-ups was so impressed that he had other members of his staff examine my teeth to show them what is possible with high end veneers. People tell me all the time that they wish they had teeth like mine. I am 100% satisfied with Dr. Rabanus and his work. He's totally and completely focused on patient satisfaction and took a great deal of time to consult with me before the procedure to make sure I got what I wanted. His vast expertise, professional manner and friendly demeanor put me at ease throughout the process. He even called me while on his vacation from abroad to make sure that everything was fine a week after the procedure. Dr. Rabanus only sees one patient at a time, and eschews any dental assistance staff so that he can complete control the quality of the patient experience. We are lucky to have Dr. Rabanus in San Francisco. read more
