Since we would be spending at least 2 years with an orthodontist, finding one my child trusted was a top priority. When we met with Dr. Kurth, I explained that my child is very anxious and it is important for her to know what exactly is happening and why. Not only did Dr. Kurth soothe my child's fears but she also made sure that her staff followed suit. When we met for our consultation (which is free) she explained the whole procedure to her. What she would need, for how long and most importantly, why. She wasn't just talking to me, she was talking to both of us. Acknowledging the fact that my child is a person, the person that would be experiencing the treatment and that her questions and fears were valid. While I had my own expectations of what the braces journey would be for us...lots of anxiety, tears, and frustrations...I am happy that it has been none of that. I truly believe that this pleasant journey is because of the calm demeanor Dr. Kurth has when she speaks with children and actually hears how they are feeling. She never dismisses my child feelings and always finds a way to ensure her comfort and she never rushes during our appointment. When it was time to make the mold of her teeth, my child was afraid of gagging and throwing up. Dr. Kurth and her staff took the time to listen to her and worked with her to get it done. I was shocked! I was expecting a day full of panic and several tries. But because Dr. Kurth had listened to us (some Drs only pretend too) she knew exactly how to calm her to get it done without any discomfort. That's when I knew we had made the right choice.
