Unfortunately still dealing with the damage this place caused and now paying out of pocket at a new dentist to get it fixed because I dont trust the doctors here whatsoever. Needed to get a crown and saw Dr. Rama. He recommended a porcelain crown instead of the regular one covered by my insurance. They said it was $900 but theres a "deal" of $400 off when you sign up for the dental care plan or whatever through County Dental that can be cancelled at anytime. I told him Im a college student and thats pretty pricey for me and Im okay with the insurance covered crown. He insisted the porcelain one was a better option and essentially pressured me into getting that one and said (yes, he really said this to me) "it's a no brainer. Unless upgrading this crown will make you go hungry you should really get this one". I told my mom what happened and she called the office telling them to cancel that $500 crown and give me the regular one. Dr. Rama called me after hours on his personal number to assure me he never pressured me and that "there must have been a misunderstanding". Whatever. I went back to get the permanent crown and he made a big show of generosity that they went ahead and made me the porcelain crown at no charge bc of "the misunderstanding". Cool. He put it in and for a couple weeks afterwards I started tasting a rotten taste near the tooth and I scheduled another appointment bc I was concerned. Dr. Rama took a look and said he was "quite proud of this work" and thought it was a perfect crown and said the taste must be due to my hygiene routine. I got a second opinion at my new dental office where the doctor saw the crown was ill fitting within 5 mins of me sitting in his chair. He said if I had been his patient he would have fixed it the moment I came back. Unfortunately because I wasnt his patient I had to go back to OCD bc I didnt want to pay out of pocket for their mistake. I requested to see a different doctor and saw Dr. Mack who agreed with my new dentist's opinion and "fixed" the crown. However, 2 months later Im experiencing pain, extreme sensitivity and overall issues with that crown. I went back to Dr. Mack to see what was up and was never seen by the doctor. I made an appointment during my lunch break at work and sat in the waiting for for 30 minutes before I had to tell them I need to go back to work. The front desk was always helpful and kind, after waiting 10mins I asked if I was here at the right time and she went to ask the doctor what was taking so long and she let me know they said a few more minutes. I waited 20 more minutes and had to go. Dr. Mack called me on the office number and claimed he "squeezed [me] in" (this is not the case, I made an appointment based on his openings and he was not consulted). Brief conversation in which he evaded any responsibility for my delayed appointment. Im reasonable and understand things dont always go as planned and ideally I wouldnt have had work but thats not realistic for me or a lot of others. I let him know I wont be using that office anymore and feel others should know about this experience.

Brilliant Technical Care, Undermined by Toxic Office Culture and Shocking Dismissal…read moreOverall Rating: (2 out of 5 Stars) This is a complicated review, spanning several years of specialized care. I must separate the technical expertise of Dr. Rothstein from the administrative and cultural environment of The Smile Place. The 5-Star Dentist: Dr. Rothstein is exceptionally talented and kind. I came to him needing complex work done on a failed permanent bridge after a high school trauma left me without my front teeth. This is a very vulnerable situation, and Dr. Rothstein showed genuine compassion and the highest level of skill, successfully recreating my smile where others could not. If you are looking for cosmetic dentistry or complex restorative work, he is, without question, a genius and one of the best. The 1-Star Staff and Culture: The reason I am compelled to write this is the pervasive atmosphere created by the rest of the staff, from the front desk to the hygienists. While under Dr. Rothstein's care, I overlooked numerous instances of textbook passive-aggressive comments and behaviors directed toward me. As a patient, you quickly learn that getting in to see the doctor, who is truly excellent, takes priority over the unpleasant--and unnecessary--staff drama. It was always clear the office lacked soft skills and professional empathy. The Shocking Dismissal: The relationship ended abruptly and disrespectfully. I had scheduled cleaning appointments for my daughters in May to ensure they were seen before an insurance transition. When my daughters had an unexpected, time-sensitive conflict, I emailed the office the morning of the appointments to apologize for the inconvenience and cancel, and I immediately offered to pay the full cost of the missed slots. (By the way they are both young adults) Two weeks later, I received a certified letter formally dismissing me as a patient from the entire practice. After putting up with years of unnecessary passive-aggressive tension from the office staff, the ultimate irony is being fired as a patient via certified mail because my daughters missed their cleaning appointments--an inconvenience I offered to fully rectify financially. Attempts to reason with the front office post-firing were met with being ghosted. Final Verdict: Dr. Rothstein's talent is 5/5. The patient experience, from the day-to-day interactions to the final, shockingly cold dismissal, is 1/5. If you need great, cosmetic work and are prepared to tolerate a hostile atmosphere and risk being arbitrarily dismissed over a scheduling error, go here. If you value a warm, friendly, and professional environment where you won't be met with passive aggression or an immediate firing over an honest mistake, this is not the place for you.

This was, without question, the worst dental experience I've ever had…read more I had a filling done on one of my back molars, and shortly afterward the tooth developed a crack. When I returned for an emergency visit because I was in pain, I expected the problem to be fixed. Instead, the dentist only looked at the tooth and told me I needed to schedule yet another evaluation before any treatment would be done. It felt like unnecessary delays when I was already dealing with an issue that appeared to have resulted from the previous dental work. I ultimately sought a second opinion from another dentist, who treated me during the first visit and explained that the crack was consistent with problems related to the previous filling. That dentist addressed the issue immediately instead of requiring multiple appointments. In my opinion, the repeated office visits felt unnecessary and left me questioning whether patient care was the priority. I lost confidence in this practice and will not be returning. If you're looking for a dentist who stands behind their work and promptly addresses problems when they arise, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

I was called the next morning and offered a same day appointment. I do not have insurance and was told what would be done at the visit and what the cost would be. The assistant Jess took me into a room and asked why I was there. She listened and took an x-ray. Dr. Adam reviewed the x-ray and it was decided that I needed a new filling. I was told what the cost would be and asked if I wished to have the procedure done. i had the procedure completed. Dr. Adam and Jess were very professional, kind and courteous. They answered all of my questions. The office staff was friendly. I left the office confident that my problem had been resolved. I would recommend this office for a quick response to my emergency and for future dental needs.

I wish I had known about them earlier. all the staff starting from the front desk to the dental assistants are all so wonderful and accommodating. You can tell they all get along well and are like a well oiled machine. I hated going to the dentist but their technique as well as equipment make the dental experience so much comfortable and calming. I like the mouthpiece they use during the procedure. its actually calming white noise and drowns out the drilling. it also doesnt dry out your mouth and doesnt feel like you are drowning on your own saliva. I also appreciate that they explain in detail the plan of care so everyones on the same page. I recommend them 100%!! I also was impressed for my very young daughter. every single time she went to the dentist to get a simple cleaning, she would cry and end up throwing up. it was awful but when i brought her to middletown dental associates, she was actually able to get a FULL cleaning done and said she loves the dentist. I was shocked (in a good way). Thank you Middletown dental associates!
