2 stars out of respect for the front desk staff and the hygienist. Horrible experience with the dentists. Unfortunately still dealing with the damage this place caused and now paying out of pocket at a new dentist to get it fixed because I dont trust the doctors here whatsoever. Needed to get a crown and saw Dr. Rama. He recommended a porcelain crown instead of the regular one covered by my insurance. They said it was $900 but theres a "deal" of $400 off when you sign up for the dental care plan or whatever through County Dental that can be cancelled at anytime. I told him Im a college student and thats pretty pricey for me and Im okay with the insurance covered crown. He insisted the porcelain one was a better option and essentially pressured me into getting that one and said (yes, he really said this to me) "it's a no brainer. Unless upgrading this crown will make you go hungry you should really get this one". I told my mom what happened and she called the office telling them to cancel that $500 crown and give me the regular one. Dr. Rama called me after hours on his personal number to assure me he never pressured me and that "there must have been a misunderstanding". Whatever. I went back to get the permanent crown and he made a big show of generosity that they went ahead and made me the porcelain crown at no charge bc of "the misunderstanding". Cool. He put it in and for a couple weeks afterwards I started tasting a rotten taste near the tooth and I scheduled another appointment bc I was concerned. Dr. Rama took a look and said he was "quite proud of this work" and thought it was a perfect crown and said the taste must be due to my hygiene routine. I got a second opinion at my new dental office where the doctor saw the crown was ill fitting within 5 mins of me sitting in his chair. He said if I had been his patient he would have fixed it the moment I came back. Unfortunately because I wasnt his patient I had to go back to OCD bc I didnt want to pay out of pocket for their mistake. I requested to see a different doctor and saw Dr. Mack who agreed with my new dentist's opinion and "fixed" the crown. However, 2 months later Im experiencing pain, extreme sensitivity and overall issues with that crown. I went back to Dr. Mack to see what was up and was never seen by the doctor. I made an appointment during my lunch break at work and sat in the waiting for for 30 minutes before I had to tell them I need to go back to work. The front desk was always helpful and kind, after waiting 10mins I asked if I was here at the right time and she went to ask the doctor what was taking so long and she let me know they said a few more minutes. I waited 20 more minutes and had to go. Dr. Mack called me on the office number and claimed he "squeezed [me] in" (this is not the case, I made an appointment based on his openings and he was not consulted). Brief conversation in which he evaded any responsibility for my delayed appointment. Im reasonable and understand things dont always go as planned and ideally I wouldnt have had work but thats not realistic for me or a lot of others. I let him know I wont be using that office anymore and feel others should know about this experience. read more

I saw Dr. Bonelli for a dental emergency. I needed a root canal and I was in tremendous pain. During the first visit, Dr. Bonelli, "killed the nerve" and told me I should be "fine" and experience less pain. I was scheduled to come back the next day to complete the procedure. On the way home, after five or more shots of Novocain, I was in MORE pain then when I had arrived. I could not eat anything solid, I was unable to sleep more than 30 minutes and I was taking tylenol and Advil every three hours. When I went back the next day, I explained to Dr. Bonelli about the increased pain. He stated that he would call in a prescription for Ibruprofen and a stronger antibiotic. Dr. Bonelli stated that I would need to be seen by an Endontist, as he could not help me. He patted me on the shoulder and said "good luck" and then the receptionist gave me a manila folder with a paper copy of my X-rays and the information for an endontist. It was after 4PM by this time. The endontist I was referred to was closed, Dr. Bonelli did not send in the medicine that evening, in fact, I had to call the next day to ask again. The medicine was not received by the pharmacy until after 1PM. This dentist does not care about his patients and should retire as it seems as though he is rushing the process and forgetting key elements, such as calling in prescriptions. The receptionist called me today asking about an appointment for a cleaning next week, no mention of the previous incident and I informed them I would not be coming back to that dentist. My wife and I had cleanings and xrays done. The hygienist stated the cost for me was $ 220. For my wife it was $260. I questioned why so hi for my wife as she is 88 years old and only has a few teeth. I got a BS response. When I went to check out my cost went from $ 220 to $ 380 and that was with their discount plan. I questioned why but never received a good answer. They then informed me that my wife's cost was not $ 275 and not $260. Then they told me my cost was $ 325. In total the bill was $ 600.00 and they didn't polish my teeth or used the fluoride treatment. I then asked what the cost would be if I didn't have their discount program and she stated it would have been $ 565 for each of us. Two simple cleanings and a few xrays. They gave us new appointments which I quickly cancelled. If you're looking to get ripped off I highly recommend Orange County Dental. You can have my appointments because I will never walk in their doors again. read more

Had a negative experience here last week. I had an appointment, and the day before I got this voice message: "Good afternoon. This message is for Jacqueline. We're calling to see if you would like to come in tomorrow at 2:00 instead of 2:30. Please give us a call and let us know. 845-344-1003. Thank you and have a nice day." When I heard the message, I tried to call them back to let them know I could not come in earlier. But the line was busy, busy, busy (as it normally is). Hence, I DID NOT AGREE TO COME IN AT 2:00. I had made this appointment more than a month in advance, and had to take time off from work. I could not get there before 2:30. So, the next day, I'm driving to my appointment and someone from County Dental leaves the following message: "Good Afternoon. This is County Dental calling for Jacqueline. Jacqueline, you had an appointment today for 2:00. Ummm... It is now 2:18. Ummm... If you want, we do have a 3:30 open and available. Just give us a call. Ummm... the number here is 845-344-1003. Thank you and have a good day." Well, when I arrived, I waited more than a half hour. They ended up seeing me at 3:00. It lis clear that County Dental values their own time much more than that of their patients. Not only is this disrespectful, but it is also a very poor business model. read more

I have been going for 15 years and on at least 3 occasions, I showed up for my appointment only to find out that they cancelled on me earlier that day. I work in Albany and have to take 1/2 day off from my employment so that I can make the last appointment. Then they have the nerve to ask me to wait on standby in case someone cancels. I've been coming here for over a year now & never had a bad experience. They get me in usually as soon as I walk in or within a 5-10 minute window after. They do a great job with cleanings, fillings, & X-Ray. I got a few fillings done with them & my bite was messed up on one of them which I noticed after the numbing wore off. So I called & they saw me the next day to fix it for free. I think it's great here & I don't know why they have such awful reviews. read more

So where do I start with orange county dental..... hmmm 1st couple of visits was ok then after that I got switched to a different hygienist Stephanie and she was very unprofessional and pushy about upselling my insurance did not cover i went in for a cleaning which I've done there for the past 2 yrs with a different hygienist never an issue never unprofessional or pushy either but this girl is something else when I said no to the option that the insurance didn't cover she refused to do the regular cleaning which the insurance does cover every six months so because she wanted to make more money with them out of pocket expense she refused I NO longer will be a patient and neither will my entire family smdh thanks for wasting my time read more

I have been a patient here for many years . The staff is great. I used to see Cindy as my hygienist but i see Tara now and I love Tara she is a wonderful hygienist , she is very friendly and informative i'm always laughing and have a great experience with her. Dr. Maclaga is wonderful and easy on the eyes as well! I used to see Dr Sussman but he retired . i do believe management needs work bc i've seen a bunch of different people manage the office throughout the years. I have seen so many assistants in and out of the office as well. The assistant Stacey is my favorite , she is quick with my x-rays and is good with my kids. i had an assistant once by the name of Luz and she was very rude . The girls at the front desk are pretty good. i do recommend this dental office . read more

I have been a patient for a long time. Only 2 places take my insurance and I went to the other one. I have decided to drive to Rockland County for dental work and will complain to the insurance company about them. I was told by my daughter in law how horrible they are and I should have listened to her. My whole top is almost crowns. I recently had a bridge done. I had a problem with a tooth and they sent me to the surgeon in the back. I went back in the front and my dentist took me to a chair and started doing something so I immediately know he made a mistake. She said don't worry I will not bill the insurance company. I should have questioned it more. Well they did bill the insurance company but I didn't read it right away and let it go. I laid out a lot of money because it was less than the allowable time to get new crowns. Another thing I didn't question. Eveything I eat gets stuck in the bridge. Then a week after getting it my front tooth broke. The dr who fixes bridges wasn't there so my dentist fixed it and it lasted less than a week. When I went back and said isn't there any guarantee and her response"you get married and there are no guarantees it's going to last". I said that's crazy. I should have gone to whoever is in charge or made a scene. Another thing the hygenist that I had talked me into getting some procedure where she put this stuff on all my teeth. I was so nauseous from it and the taste was so disgusting I can't even tell you. Every time I see the hygenist she tries to sell me something. My hygenist in Queens worked on my teeth for 45 minutes. County dental 15 minutes. I wouldn't recommend this Dental place to anyone. read more

Had an appointment at 9:50, waited until 10:15 to only be approached by a front desk receptionist asking if I could come back at 12 because the hygienist Stephanie is running late. I obviously said no I cannot do that and she said "okay we can take you at 11:40" I told her again I can't do that. She comes back and says "we can actually take you at 11" at this point I should've just left and rescheduled, but I wanted my teeth cleaned so I waited until 11. After waiting an extra hour, I'm finally seen just to be told my insurance didn't cover my cleaning because I would need an "EXTRA DEEP" cleaning today for $300 dollars which apparently my insurance didn't cover. I asked if there's any way I can get my teeth cleaned today and they Hygienist said no. I came here for no reason basically. I should've got nasty but I didn't. Wasted my time and I will not be coming back to this office. More than annoyed and upset but happy to see other reviews that experienced the same exact thing should've read them before I scheduled. read more

Front desk is horrendous. Horribly disorganized and both me and my husband experience major headaches showing up for appointments that are cancelled. BUT - the service providers are excellent. I can't say enough about how great the hygienists and dental services are. They have the best technology and excellent training. Too bad they can't seem to get their front desk in better order. I saw Dr. MacLaga and he was nothing less than wonderful. He mentioned to me that my smile would be brighter if he took care of some old discolored fillings. No hard sell, just a suggestion. Very nice looking office but I won't be going back. Went in for tooth pain, had to get xrays and the tech kept taking the thing out of my mouth and hitting my tooth with the pain! I asked her 3x to stop, and she still didn't get it. The hygienist was a sweetheart but I have never had a cleaning last 20 minutes. I didn't get fully flossed and the polishing seemed rushed. After everything was done I fully expected her to go over my teeth to check for any minor holes or something like that, and nothing! If I could rate 1/2 I would, I have been a patient from day one with Orange County Dental. Throughout the years I have seen good staff come and go. Along with the staff changes the atmosphere at this dental office has changed for the worst. I also recommend that you check your billing statement from your insurance company. I discovered that I was billed for care that I DID NOT receive., then 3 month later they tried to force the service on me because the year was ending. Unfortunately for them I was not able to keep the appointment scheduled before 2021 ended. This means that they owe my insurance company a refund. There is also a new hygienist who is very aggressive causing me to behave in the same manner.Also Manager Jennifer is truly a piece of work (SMH) . Before you ask me not to return, I am letting you know that my entire family will be seeking services elsewhere and I will be share my experience with my work peers along with all the wonderful Yelp comments . read more

Been going here for a few years and was never overly impressed - the hygienist I typically see is lovely but my cleanings never lasted more than 15 minutes and weren't very thorough. However, I haven't had any issues or cavities so I kept going back, even after moving an hour away, rather than switching dentists. However, after my most recent experience I won't be going back anymore. I went for a regular cleaning and prior to the cleaning, tried to pay with a check which they informed me they no longer take. I gave them a $20 bill to cover my $15 co pay and the receptionist walked away without saying a word and was gone for a good 15 minutes - I inferred that she didn't have change for my $20 and was correct. Anyway, after waiting and making the hygienist wait, I went in for my typical 15 minute cleaning and x-rays. I was informed that I had 2 cavities - one which should be taken care of immediately. They also told me that I needed to replace my crown that I had done 5 years ago. When I asked them why, as it isn't bothering me and I haven't had any issues with it, their response was "we always replace them after five years." So the real answer is just because they want $ from my insurance company which conveniently will cover a new crown every five years. I scheduled an appointment to get one of the cavities filled a few weeks later. The day of the appointment I drove an hour to get there on time at 4:30, only to get a message left at 4:10 from the office telling me that the appointment had to be canceled because the doctor had an emergency. I called back 5 minutes later and the office was already closed - I find it curious that a busy office with multiple dentists and hygienists always present all had to leave because one dentist had an emergency. I also thought it was very inconsiderate and unprofessional to cancel an appointment twenty minutes before it was scheduled. I wasted an hour driving there and then an hour driving back all for nothing. I will be going to another dentist to have my fillings done. When I called to ask for my records to be forwarded, I asked to speak to the office manager about my experience. They told me they would transfer me and then promptly hung up. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because as mentioned, the hygienist I typically saw was very nice. However, the entire place is like a mill and they are only out to get money. It's a shame they don't have more concern for the time and comfort of their patients. read more

After having to get work that they did redone by another dentists several times to adding on unnecessary services that conveniently were not covered by insurance to poor office policies I can no longer go there. I have been a patient for years but will never go back. After having work done I was informed that I needed to have several extractions done so that,according to them,will not cause problems later. Me being a trusting person I allowed the extractions to be done but was always wondering if it was the correct thing to do. After requesting my records and going to another dentist I was curious to find out some things.My new dentist viewed my previous x-rays,done by County Dental,and I was told that the teeth that were extracted were healthy and there was never a need to have them extracted. They also billed my insurance for services that were never done, like panels of x-rays for a full set of teeth when I no longer have a full set of teeth because of the extractions and partials I have to wear. Scheduling an appointment is a night-mare especially if you're in pain,they can't see you for several weeks! I was able to schedule an appointment with my dentist for the next day on an emergency basis! DO NOT GO TO COUNTY DENTAL FOR YOUR DENTAL NEEDS!!!! read more

Serious ethics issues here. I did not intend to use this office..... I went there when I had a temporary filling fall out which I had done with Ident, the office that is attached to County Dental. The Dentist who helped me was mostly concerned with selling me other procedures, particularly the removal of my wisdom teeth. Because I have moved around a lot over the last 15 years, I have had a handful of different dentists. They have all, always said that my wisdom teeth are in good shape and placed well. When I told her this she suggested that I removed them because they are difficult to brush and that may cause problems later. Maybe this is a new school of thought regarding wisdom teeth, but I think it's suspect. I'm disappointed that this was the focus of the visit, rather then the problem at hand. I felt that she was solely concerned about up-selling. They also charged me for the visit, which seems silly considering it was fixing something that was not done correctly the first time. If they have an agreement with Ident, that should not effect the quality of work and the guarantee of work done. I have heard similar stories about this Dentist, though I am not at liberty to relate those stories. In addition to the questionable ethics of this office, I found that the front desk support was flakey and irresponsible. I was told to come in at a time when the dentists were out of the office and had to wait an hour for them to return. The front desk pointed the finger at me; they took no responsibility. read more

This is a textbook Dental Mill. With six or more locations, was nine at one time, unfortunately there is no one steering the ship. Front desks are mismanaged by youthful personnel that can't discern the difference between a patient on government assistance and a person of means. Their customer service especially billing is horrible. I was being charged $50 for not cancelling an appointment 48 hours in advance. They did not believe me when I said I did call and cancel. Was forced to pay $50 or they were going to refuse to see my 2 daughters and myself for our cleanings. I looked at my past phone records and have proof that I called on March 14th to cancel my March 24th appointments. So now I have to waste my time to fight with them to get reimbursed my $50. It amaze that they are willing to lose 3 customers over $50. The billing guy France's was accusing me of lying about cAncelling the appointments. I felt coerced into paying $50 or they wouldn't see myself And my 2 daughters for our appointments that day. He has no customer service skills whAt so ever. Also when my daughters have been seen for cleanings there have been times the dentist didn't check on them after. They seem very into pushing having wisdom teeth removed. I am in my 40's. Why are they asking me about my wisdom teeth. They scared my daughter when she was 15 by sending her to An oral surgeon about her wisdom teeth. The oral surgeon looked at her in 5 minutes and said they wisdom teeth weren't in enough to be removed. If the dentists there were competent they should be able to look at her X-rays and her and know that and not waste our time and get her all worried about oral surgery unnecessarily. They need to focus more on there customers and doing right by them then pushing services that are not needed especially to a 15 year old. And concern themselves over losing 3 patients over $50. I and my daughters leave they will loss a lot more than $50. Plus the negative reviews I am giving them. Only went there because not many dentists in the area took my insurance. read more

I hate this place. Every time I go there they try to sell me something. The hygienists are rather lovely and very personable. However, Dr. Sussman is rude. I had a number of cavities after the dental office failed to give me an X-Ray for 3 years. Keep in mind that I make a dentist appointment for every 6 months and attend them without issue. Each time I am told my teeth were fine except this visit, where I was chastised for having so many cavities. Now I admit that I am not without blame in that department. I don't floss (I often forget), but these issues would've been caught sooner had they done X-Rays and it's not MY job to remind the staff to take them. He was so cruel and flippant about it, talking about the state of teeth as if I weren't there before adopting a rather condescending attitude. This is not the first time I've had a run-in with the rude staff at County Dental, but I can assure you that it will be my last. I will be searching for another dentist in the area that takes my insurance. Don't waste your time here. read more

Horrid service. I had a crown fall out that they had put it. When I called to have it taken care of they gave me the "earliest" appointment they had well over a month away. I waited and when I went in they told me I had waited to long and now needed to have the tooth extracted. I was so upset I made an appointment with another dentist as soon as I left. The new dentist got me the VERY next day. The new dentist said there was no reason to have the tooth extracted at all. He put the crown back in and set me up to have a bridge put in. Over all they are not considerate of the patient, they are only open mon-fri 9-5... ya know when you are actually working yourself, they treat you like a second rate citizen. I felt like it was a training ground for new people who are still learning themselves. they are simply about moving people through in volume. I suspect since they don't actually do the major procedures themselves they refer you to ident for that work they more than likely are getting some kind of referral kickback from them. My daughters had an appointment today that was scheduled two months ago. Prior to making the appointment I informed this office that my sister would be taking them, with that being said what I was told was they only needed a letter giving her permission to take them. I was trying to make everyone's lives easier day of the appointment and called at 9:30am to have the paperwork faxed to me not only did these morons not know how to fax but after all morning and all afternoon speaking with them they tell my husband 20mins prior to their appointment that they can't be seen because a parent wasn't going to be present. I have to say that all of this could have been prevented if the front desk had inform me of the office policy. I call the office and I'm put on hold so that they can find the office manager which apparently takes five minutes and a hang up to do, when I call back the idiot that puts me on hold tells me oh I'm still trying to find her really how big is that office. The office manager which was a women that I spoke to comes on 2 seconds later and wants to yes me to death and tell me there is nothing they can do it was a communication problem. I believe it is a training problem I have worked the front desk at healthcare offices, corporate offices and retail offices and one thing that is always enforced is that you never give out wrong information and you train whomever is picking up the phones until they are aware or at least have the sense to put the person on hold to give the correct information. I have never dealt with a bunch of incompetent individuals in my life and I have dealt with many individuals. Now my sister goes to the office to find that the office manager may be a transgender because it was a man that came out to speak with her... read more
