If you want the work done to the bare minimum of competency than Paul Davis is the company for you. If you want it done well, or fast, or up to any kind of the high standard then go somewhere else. They will wine and dine you at the beginning to get you to sign on but then you get tossed to the back of the queue while they troll for new business. Here are some of the issues I experienced: 1. Awful communication. We requested they notify us the day before they would show up so that we could shower in peace without running into a stranger and to also put our dog (who loves to escape) behind a gate. Received notification maybe twice 2. Promised an electrical survey of appliances for the water mitigation part but was never completed 3. Failed to paint an entire room and the baseboards in another that the work order called for until I pointed it out 4. I had to constantly call them for updates and time estimates since they would not provide them (how hard is it to send a text message????) 5. Waited until the END to fix flooded ductwork which means my thermostat was running double-time to heat the house during this period 6. Delayed working on the project because they were waiting for payment for the water mitigation (this was their responsibility to submit the claim to the insurance company but they screwed it up and I had to fix it for them) 7. Did NOT offer a final walkthrough though it was specified on their closing paperwork. Ron Hudson and Frank Willing came to our home on 1/19/26 for an inspection of water damage to our ceiling. We received the Repair Contract dated 4/30/26 signed by Joey indicating the Target Start Week date of 6/1/26 and a Target Completion Date for the week of 6/8/26. Spoke with Joey on 6/5/26 to find out the status, as we had not received a call to let us know dates/times to start this job. Joey could not find the Repair Contract that was signed by us and him, which I was holding in my hand at the time of this call. We paid the $250.00 initial inspection, which was supposed to be credited to us with the work in the Repair Contract. Joey could not agree on the telephone about our status and bailed out of the job "I'm closing your case".... This is a shit company. All the horrible reviews are true. Wish I had seen them sooner. We have been trying to get this company to fix a leak THAT HAS EXISTED SINCE THE DAY THEY FINISHED OUR SUN ROOM for more than a YEAR AND HALF. This has been the single worst experience I have ever had with a contractor. DO NOT HIRE! * Brian sent the wrong plans for approval (4 windows when 6 were requested). When fixing the error, they just added windows on the drawing but did not update the measurements. Their carpentry subs had to figure it all on-the-build, with phone conversations with project managers: the dimensions provided would not fit 6 windows. Modified on the run. *Project managers were changed like underwear throughout the project, resulting in windows being ordered incorrectly 2 times in a row, for instance - and zero control over sub contractors. *They rarely call when they say they will. The subs would mostly not show up when they were scheduled -and not call to let anyone know. I had to call the company to let them know their workers did not show. They NEVER check on their own people. When they did show, it was often on unscheduled days with no notice. One dude evidently opened our house to set supplies inside - we were never even made aware he was here. *One of the interchangeable PMs told me they couldn't control their sub-contractors. I then asked why exactly we were paying them - as the whole point is to have them managing the job. He said "Good question." *One crew showed up a day early, no announcement, no notice, no knock on the door...just started working on the house. When I asked if the materials had been delivered to finish the job (as I was told they were going to be delivered the next day and it was predicted to rain all night), they packed up and reported to their boss that 'I didn't want them there'! WTAF? *Once the checks have been cashed, they don't give a crap about you. The number of promised dates to fix the leak that were cancelled due to weather, family crisis, over scheduling, subs not showing up...I mean the excuses are legion. *The electrician left folded over cardboard wedged in our breaker box, evidently to get the breakers to seat completely. A definite fire hazard. My father was an electrician and I was able to fix the breakers myself and remove the cardboard. But, again, WTAF? *You can have repeated conversations about lack of communication, their inability to manage their subs, all of it... nothing changes. I have been beyond patient with these asses. WE STILL DO NOT HAVE A WEATHER TIGHT ADDITION - nearly TWO YEARS after start of the project - and they DID NOT SHOW UP THIS MORNING AGAIN (3/18). No call. No information. I'm sure they were unaware their own subs didn't bother to show until I called and left a message. They don't care. I am angry enough about this and other crap experiences with crap contractors that I am motivated to start lobbying for changes in Delaware law re contractors/builders. Lawyers tell us that most the relevant laws are written in favor of builders and you spend more money trying to get justice than homeowners ever recover. As far as I'm concerned this company owes us a complete refund - simply for the 'pain and suffering' of fighting with them for years to just finish the damned job. 0 stars, my insurance company sent them out after a roof leak into my house. They came took pics and did nothing. A week later it was going to rain Ins. Company as well so they tarped my whole roof , needless to say 7 days after they tarped it the roof leaked again. Insurance claim is still open and paul davis sends me a bill for 2311 dollars for tarping the roof after it leaked with it tarped. They're rude when you call. I wanted my pics they sent to my insurance company and they won't even call me back. My house is 1100 sqft they suck . Very unprofessional company do not hire them. read more

They were responsive, very helpful, and timely with the kitchen renovation they recently did on my home in Sussex County, DE. I appreciated their attention to detail. So many contractors fail to follow up. It was refreshing working with them my experience was five stars. We had some water damage to our kitchen and laundry room from a hot water leak in our crawlspace. We decided to hire Paul Davis to handle the repair work which consisted of replacing some insulation, some minor drywall work, replacing some base kitchen cabinets, replacing the floor and trim work in the laundry room, and some other minor stuff. Nothing at all complicated, unless you're Paul Davis! What should have taken three weeks(which is what they told us) to complete, took NINE weeks, and STILL counting. The project manager assigned to the job was incompetent, had ZERO communication skills, and had no idea what was most important to the customer. We went days without having a working kitchen at times, which the PM thought we should accept until he "figured out the schedule" as he put it. The people who replaced the floor in the laundry room drained the hot water heater without turning off the power, thereby frying the heating elements. It resulted in being without hot water for two days(they thought it was ok to be without hot water until they could get someone out to fix it). The Project Manager was fired sometime in the middle of this nightmare, but we didn't find out until I contacted him and he told us(he said he quit). Nobody from Paul Davis called us to explain what happened or to see if we were happy with the work, I had to call to find out. Even after a change to a "new" PM, nothing really changed, still took another three weeks to complete the work. The kitchen sink plumbing had to be redone THREE times due to sloppy work. The drywall work in the laundry room had to be redone because of sloppy work. Work was completed on April 12th, and we are still waiting on a final review of our contract. They keep sending a final invoice saying we owe them the final balance, which in reality, based on work that didn't need to be done, Paul Davis appears to owe us money back. Haven't heard a pip from them since I sent this information to them! Stay far away from this dumpster fire of a company and don't waste one second considering them for your house repair needs. We were so happy to entrust our work to this company: everyone we spoke with was friendly and helpful. But the work was a disappointment: poorly vetted painters who had to be replaced. Little in-person oversight by our project manager, who asked us to critique the work and take measurements. Within a week after final payment, we noticed a small cracked area in the paint - and the bathroom vanity plumbing they installed was leaking, ruining contents of the cabinet. No call back when we left a message with their office staff. No response to the customer satisfaction survey. Our job cost over 30k, we hoped for better. We tipped every single worker at the end of each week, they worked hard - but supervision seems spread too thin. Now we need a new vanity and more paint, hope that is all. read more

My condo in Ocean City suffered water damage from the unit upstairs. My insurance company sent Paul Davis Restoration to dry the wet walls and inside the cabinets. Then Insurance company recommended them for the restoration. I signed a contract on 12/29/23 for a starting date week of 1/22/24 and ending date week of 2/12/24. It is now April 11, 2024 and the work is not completed. Some if it had to be redone because of errors. Several items unrelated to the claim were damaged in my condo during the painting. The employees keep promising completion next week, and then next week, and so on. I have been unable to use my condo since 1/22/24. The employees are not concerned about the delay even though the company has breached their contract related to the completion date. Be careful. I would not recommend this company for any repairs on your home if you want repairs completed according to your contract. read more

It was easy to set up an appointment. Put my info into the website and got a call a couple of days later. Unfortunately the gentleman who came out to do the estimate, which I never got, did not inspire confidence. He looked at the room, fairly small and only needing the drop ceiling replaced, for quite some time. He said he couldn't go into a lot of detail beyond the ceiling because he had 20 appointments a week. They must have more business than they can handle because more than 3 weeks have passed and nobody has called with an estimate. Based on his lack of knowledge and their inability to follow up I would not want to take a chance on having them in my home attempting to do work. We had such a great experience with Paul Davis out of Salisbury on a recent bathroom project, which included repairs and restoration after a bad shower leak. It is rare to get such amazing customer service, and a quality product, in this day an age of the pandemic and supply shortages. Everyone on the Paul Davis team, from the estimators who worked with the insurance company, to the outstanding Project Manager Jerimiah, to the folks who showed up to do the work, were professional, responsive, and paid extreme attention to detail in restoring our bathroom. horrible experience with this company. Insulation not properly replaced, sheet rock not finished very well , the mud actually bubbled. But worst of all the electrician completed intense electricial work without pulling a permit from the county as his license had expired. Got license after the work was done, and then claimed it had received a rough in inspection, which it had not, and then hung drywall over it. they lied to our faces about this, then the company got indigent when we discovered this and held them accountable. What a nightmare, please investigate any company before you sign on the line. Unfortunately they were recommended by our insurance company but now they too see this company is only out for the money. No professionalism or intergrity, especially when the owner has the nerve to laugh in the clients face and curse at them when he is caught red handed. I could go on and on and on . read more
