We had some significant mold on the joists under our home and during the winter months with the heat pump running our floors were ice cold. We received an estimate from Nicole Luzak, and she was our point of contact through the process. They sent a crew of five personnel, Matt-Melvin-Yorman-Zach-Mark, that worked under our home for three days. The crew cleaned all the debris and other materials from under the house, abated all the mold underneath with a cleaner and fungicide, sealed the space, insulated the space, put down a vapor barrier, and installed a dehumidifier. The crew worked diligently each day, kept their worksite clean, and communicated well with us each day regarding their progress. The crew boss, Matt, reached out to me about our Wifi for the dehumidifier and let me know that we needed to contact our internet provider to split the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz service so that we could connect up; it was quite helpful. We received a follow up email from Nicole after the work was completed to give us the service manuals and materials relevant to the install. Great communication and high-quality service. C&B never intended to do the restoration, and they left me with half my floor ripped up. These folks are dishonest and manipulative. Do not hire them if they say they'll do the entire job. They only want to do mitigation - they won't do the restoration. They also left my walls in rough shape according to other contractors, appear to have cracked an HVAC drain pipe, and generally made a huge mess that I've had to live with. They've repeatedly trash talked my insurance company, terrifying me by implying that my house is going to sit in disrepair and be unlivable like another house nearby. They neglected to mention that the house they are referring to has structural damage and isn't at all like my house. They're just fear mongering and trying to whip me into a panic. It's awful to do that to a single parent who is just trying to get back to normal. Use another company if you want a job well done by people you can trust.

My next-door neighbor, (fortunately), spotted water running from my front door. To make a long story short, my condo manager recommended United Restoration; they used them before and were well pleased. From what I understand, United Restoration came out almost immediately and started the mitigation process. I arrived to see my home 2 days later. I cried when I saw it but according to my neighbors it looked good compared to what it was. United Restoration packed up my stuff efficiently and I easily found what I needed. They dried out the house very quickly - still in the drying process - and because they got there so quickly it appears there will be no mold problems. They are still in the drying/packing process. I met with Joe Pino, the Manager and estimator, the next business day. He explained clearly the damages and what will be needed; he is dealing with the Insurance company as well. They are a full-service company, so I won't be worrying about contractors, etc. They also are dealing with the insurance company. I cannot tell you how pleased and greatful for the work they are doing.

We figured out that our county's website has a record of all of the permitted work done in the county in the last 3.5 months, and you can sort by project. It also lists the sq footage of the project and the cost. We could see that Kefficient had done the most permitted projects in our county and they had a fair and competitive price compared to other companies who got their work permitted. We ended up deciding to work with Kefficient. What a world of difference! They quickly got a permit and did the work and had it inspected and it looks great. It necessitated tearing down the wet, damaged drywall ceiling and walls, and working in difficult areas to access- around the water heater and A/C unit. They treated it with the same respect, care and service that they would for a job that would cost thousands of dollars. My French drain was clogged so water was seeping into the basement. Todd came out, evaluated the…read moresituation, and provided a very reasonable estimate to clear the drain. He then said they were quite busy and could not do the job for 5-6 days. However, he thought another customer may be postponing a job and if so, he could be here in 2 days. Sure enough, he called the next day to tell me he could be at my home the following day. Once he got here, Todd did a number of things to clear the blockage. It must have been quite a large clog because it took some time and effort but he did not stop until he was absolutely certain that the drain was clear. He then cleaned up the basement floor of any dirt and water before he left. I could not be happier with Todd and Basement Pros. If I ever have any other issues with water, mold, or cracks in my basement, I will definitely call them first.
