I went to her because my eyes were terribly irritated. Her office scheduled me the same day I called, and Dr. Chan was wonderful. She diagnosed the problem and prescribed drops that took care of it. I had to email her over a weekend with a question, and she responded the same day. Today I went for a follow up and annual eye exam, including contacts. She had ordered a new type of contacts for me, after listening to my issues with the ones I'd been using. The new lenses are great, and my vision is 20/20 with them. Dr. Chan is friendly, knowledgeable, empathetic, explains everything thoroughly, and she listens. It's clear that she loves her work. The technician, Maria, is also extremely nice and competent. The women at the front desk are kind, welcoming, and friendly. I honestly could not have asked for a better experience, and highly recommend Dr. Chan.

Traveling on the road is rewarding but challenging. Many times the challenge comes down to "what…read morehappens when things don't go as planned". It's story time: Unbeknownst to me my glasses fell off the nightstand at the hotel during the night. This morning when I got out of bed I heard a CRUUUNCH and realized that I stepped on my glasses and they are bent and broken. You can imagine my panic. I took the broken frames and lens and went looking for an optometrist. The first place I ran to, that was recommended by the hotel front desk, was closed, (this is the third recommendation by the same front desk person that utterly SUCKED, but I digress), and I realized the lens is now missing! So I ran back to the hotel, found the lens (yes!) and looked for another spot. I found one on yelp (5 stars), close to the hotel, and ran there. In the meantime I called the other person working with me, to give her a heads up that I may miss the first meeting today trying to fix the problem. The lab was in this run down building, non-descript entrance, down the hall on a confusing second floor. I entered, still panicked, and showed them what happened. "Let me see what I can do" was the response (with a big disarming smile behind the mask). And with that I handed over my bent frames, lens and all. Long story short; we struck a conversation (he wants to retire in San Diego) and about 15 minutes later the frames were fixed "not perfect but that's the best I can do!" was what Yong, the optometrist said. I couldn't thank him enough! I really couldn't thank them enough for saving the day. I'm thinking of going back to buy a spare set of glasses to give them some of my business. The practice was unkept, cluttered, disorganized, and covered in dust. The trash in the exam room was full, yet I was the first patient seen that morning. Nothing about the environment felt clean or sanitary. During my exam, a bottle of solution with no cap was used and then put directly into my eyes. I was also handed a used, dirty contact case to store my contacts afterward. I felt so uncomfortable with the cleanliness standards that I didn't even feel safe putting my contacts back in when I left. To make matters worse, when I requested an itemized receipt because I believed I had been overcharged, I was handed a piece of paper with long division math written in pen instead of a computerized breakdown of charges. As a fellow healthcare worker, I was appalled. I would absolutely not recommend this office to anyone looking for a professional or hygienic eye care experience.

And felt as if we were at a "5 star hotel" for a private office compared to MEEI's 2.5 star hotel rating... Parking is tight at one of their office location (West Roxbury), but the medical center in Norwood and other place had parking which was helpful! And was free. After deciding to go with this specialist due to their experiences, knowledge, and care (unlike MEEI's), they were responsive to our questions and calls. We appreciated that a great deal.
