I love Patti's! Have been going here for years. Something just feels so different about a woman-owned shop. Patti saw me at short notice last week, got my car in and out by the next day so I could make my camping trip as planned, AND she didn't even charge me because the issue ended up being due to a problem with the key fob not transmitting correctly, not anything to do with the car. In the past when I've taken my car there she's always shown genuine concern for me and my kids, and making sure we are all safe on the road and getting to where we need to be. Plus, her pets are the cutest addition to the experience! I plan to pass my 2012 Honda down to my daughter in two years and I feel very confident that Patti will keep that car, and and future ones I own, in great shape for years to come. read more

More than anything I feel so much safer driving it due to all the hits my car got from these dang potholes damages with the rain a few months ago. Patti first stood out in that she was the only place I called who told me what she thought the problem was even before I took the car in. None of the other 5 places I called did that. Upon assessing the car after I took it in, she presented me with multiple solutions and the pros and cons of each which allowed me to choose an option which worked for my needs and budget/ resources. Toyota of Berkeley told me I needed more than $2,500 of repairs for my 2010 Prius, including new brake pads and a reseal of my timing chain case. When I called around to find quotes for a cheaper deal, I talked to Patti who said "You should have me look at it first." (She gave a firm "Hmmm..." when I told her my car was evaluated at the dealership.) Turns out the brake pads were fine, as awas the timing case. All that was needed was an O-ring repair for less than $300! read more

Patti was professional, knowledgeable and was able to take my car immediately when all the other local shops were booked a week out. She replaced the battery. Yet the very next day, the check engine light went on, prompting another $350 in repairs. Repairs that were not found when the first computer diagnostic was run before the battery replacement. My 99 Honda fairly quickly began to feel hot and uncomfortable and humid while driving on warm days. I suspected the Air Conditioning so checked out the temperature coming from the ducts, etc. and the A/C had failed. I got a recommendation from a friend who manages a transmission business and is my neighbor, so I got a couple of estimates between one and two thousand dollars, and went to Patti's. They told me they thought it was most likely under 1200 but they'd be more exact after having a look at it. Somehow, they knew what to look for, some pipe inside another pipe, and I got a call saying it was fixed and they apologized that it would be $240 total. I was ecstatic, and my A/C has been great since the repair, 2+ years ago. Thank you, a very tight budget was really protected by Patti's. read more

Just a shout out to Patti for her kindness. Our old car broke down on 80 and we had it towed to her garage. It turned it is was not worth repairing and we ended up donating it. She was very helpful and responsive as we decided what to do even though it was parked at a meter in front of her shop. I picked this place completely at random--I'm glad I ended up coming here. Patti is a breath of fresh air and both caring and hilarious. You can tell she's a no nonsense individual who is looking out for her clients and her community.The doggos and the kitty in the waiting room are just fantastic. My alignment was done super quickly. She had her people diagnose my car and let me know what's up, suffice to say, I got tires from her and had them installed the next day. They even explain WHY the part broke I have a 2007 Mazda 5, which is a fairly rare vehicle (even the dealers don't fix it). This time, my wife smelled gas in the car. I checked under the car, the hood, the gas filler, and could not find a leak. Online, Patti's mentioned Mazdas and had good reviews, I called and Patti scheduled me in. She explained what it could be and what it might take, but just charged a minimum fee to look at it. She got back to me in the day that she had not found it but needed another day. The next day she got back to me that the fuel pump was leaking due to impact and I agreed to the estimate. No mechanic had ever explained WHY to me since I was the service manager for an auto center. When I picked up the car, the mechanic that did the work actually showed me what he did and how to prevent this again. read more

I have been taking my car here for about 7 years and love them!!! They are honest and their pricing is super reasonable. Here's an embarrassing story... I ran out of oil and had to get my car towed here. They ended up charging me for an oil change. That's it! That's how honest they are. Patti has been a complete angel in my search for a new car. She's advised me to purchase cars I wouldn't have considered and to stay away from some cute cars I wanted but in the end would cost me too much in maintenance. She is a life saver. Nicole C's car didn't pass smog. So she entrusted our 02 Honda Accord to Patti's. After charging me $50 to troubleshoot the problem they said they knew what was wrong and it would cost me $200 to fix. Well it failed a second time. Now they say they are not sure what is wrong. They even blamed it on someone may have previously installed a cheapie Catalytic converter or fraudulently rig the test to pass. Sorry Patti that did not happen! They offered to try different things to see if they could get it to pass smog but we would have to pay for each even if the accord still did not pass. So let me get this right, we paid $50 for you to troubleshoot and you still got it wrong. Now you want me to pay while you experiment with our car, on the chance that you will get it right before I go bankrupt? No thanks. I brought the Accord to our mechanic here in the So. Cal. They fixed it - loose connection to the O2 sensor. Bam passed smog - no charge for the fix. Next time? No thanks. read more

A lot of other places try to make you pay for needless things but that definitely wasn't the case here. The prices were reasonable and the work is great! We have an a Chevy Volt that has been behaving oddly. Another shop quoted us what seemed to be a high price which included changing the cabin filter. We were referred to Patti's fr anther shop I trust who does not work on Volts for se one opinion. Patti charged us $75 for a diagnostic and told us the cabin filter was new. Although they were not able to fix the problem, they were honest, did not charge for things that did not need replacing and recommended a path forward. I will take my other car there in the future. I've had Jeffrey work on my car a few times now and he not only know's his stuff but is fair and reliable and is patient in explaining what's wrong with the car. I highly recommend this auto shop anything from small to big to big jobs like changing out a timing belt. Jeffrey will go the extra mile and has been in the business for a long time. Also, I was on my way to an important conference and called the shop at 8 in the morning, told Jeffrey what was going on with my car and he wisely advised me to pull over and have the car towed...as it was unsafe to operate.
